Mass Effect 3 - - - - - Part 14

I played quite a bit of the MP last year, came back for that last MP dlc pack and messed around with the Geth Juggernaut and had a good time with that. I think the last class I wanted to get was the female Turian classes.

ME3 MP & Minecraft was basically all I played last summer. Good stuff

Cabal Vangaurd. I'm decent with her but i've seen people Platinum Solo with that character.

Right now I'm really digging the Quarian Male Engineer. Tech Bursts and Fire Explosions galore plus the best debuffing skill imo, Tactical Scan.

Platinum solo? Wow!

Concept Art – Behind the Scenes

The role of a Concept Artist is the role of an explorer, tasked with charting a world without sunlight. Bear with me here:

You start off with your reference and research. These are well established base camps. They’re well lit, highly populated and safe. The better your reference the better your bearings will be. The artist’s job is to start at base camp with a bag of torches and run furiously out into the darkness. Every doodle, sketch, painting and storyboard is a torch lit somewhere out in the black. You mostly find weeds and rocks out there. But if you keep pushing you sometimes find a rich landscape that can hopefully become a new basecamp.

I was inspired by my friend Hethe Srodawa, who recently posted his most nitty-gritty of concept work: his paintovers (http://hethesrodawa.blogspot.ca/2013/05/local-watering-hole_21.html). We can tend to keep our less pretty, less refined work hidden away on our drives but I think it paints a disingenuous image of the role of concept artists. There’s a lot more to the job than the few polished portfolio pieces that get released. Hethe pulled his pants down and it has inspired me to do the same.

What follows is a smattering of rag-tag concepts.
Some saw the light of day, some were changed dramatically, some were scrapped entirely.

All were necessary.

Only Tali concept I like was the one with the hair. I like there being another race that has hair

That Shepard/Reaper stuff looked crazy

Also I would love to see this come back:

Please, some tell me I'm not the only one that saw this picture and the first idea I jumped on my mind

that Yasutora Sado from Bleach

I just found out that the Citadel dlc has the Ark of Covenant in it. That's pretty cool.

I guess I'm in the minority..I simply wanted Tali to be a Space Elf.. Now what they did with her was a COMPLETE copout..but that fan art from a while back? Yeah, I would have been good with that.

Man, concept art is always a bummer. The final versions almost never look as cool as the concepts. :/

How exactly do you "hijack an atlas mech"? I've climbed into empty ones during several ME3 playthroughs but never got an achievement for it. Am I supposed to get in one while a Cerberus mook is in it, or what am I doing wrong?

You have to kill it's pilot then get in. A sniper or shotgun is recommended, so as to break through the glass quicker.

I know there as an instance during Grissom Academy where you can just get in one but that doesn't count.

I know. I've done that several times, as well as get in one during the final assault on the Illusive Man's space station. Always fun to shoot the Cerberus guys with those missiles and blow them to bloody bits. :woot:

Armor piercing weapons and mods also make it easier to kill the pilot without outright destroying the mech.

Omega is free on PS3 right now. Must be purchased from the console

In regards to the concept art.. I'm one if the guys that wanted Tali to look like a humanoid space elf.. And while I think the way they showed her face was BS.. I'm beyond glad she wasn't super alien gross thing.

I wanted her to look like one of those Kaminoans from Star wars Episide 2

There are a number of designs, that I would have preferred over what we ultimately got.

What's weird is that Bioware made a couple of those. I think Kavasin from Gamespot was right when he speculated the pic was a placeholder that they didn't get around to removing.
