just curious......who here is kind of sick of the current ME set of games and is ready to move on to ME 4 and beyond, with a new protagonist and new storyline?
I know I am. I'm not even that excited for the Trilogy Pack ( although it would be nice to get all the games in one pack, + ME 1 for the PS3 ).

Not sick, because I'm definitely up for Omega and the other DLC they've got coming up but I would go so far as to say I feel like they've wrung out pretty much everything they could out of the whole Alliance Navy/Specter motif. I think Omega's shaping up to be awesome but I do agree with you that I am ready for a totally new character and story. I would have been disappointed if ME4 had ended up starring a Shepard stand-in so I'm glad that they've said they're going to go for an all new protagonist that won't slot into those things.
so, according to this, Mass Effect 4 will start a new experience with a character who is not going to be "Shepard 2."

if this is true, I am glad they're moving on from the original trilogy to start something new, with a new main character.
I would welcome a new character, simply because my Shepard was already a custom Shepard to begin with. I don't care about him as the face of the franchise, because I like to create my own character.
Well if it's done in a similar way to Xcom I can see that working. Kinda funny now seeing that X-com the shooter went third person and is/ will be borrowing element from Mass effect to a degree for that ip. A new spin on things from Biowares pov. If it's done that is .I wouldn't mind an RTS game that explores the First Contact War.
Good point. Not that more Shepherd would be the end of the world but damn EA & damn Bioware for giving EA enough rope to hang them with!To be perfectly honest, I just don't buy it. EA is going to be micromanaging the hell out of ME4, especially after the ME3 backlash. EA is not going to flush a marketable character down the drain. Shepard is in many ways the face of the franchise. Sure, we nerds would like to see the galaxy expand or play as a Turian or whatever. But IMO, EA isn't going to have it. They are going to play it safe and use their marketable character, whether Bioware likes it or not. I hope I'm wrong, but this feels like deja vu. Remember when Bungie said that Master Chief would never star in another Halo game?
I suppose I am in the minority but I don't think Shepard's story should be over. I finally got around to playing Leviathan.....I really think that after the DLC, there needs to be one final expansion. People can say that the Reapers cannot be beaten without the Catalyst all they want, but after seeing the power of the Leviathan....BW is considerably changing the amount of power that the allied forces have. After Omega I assume Shepard will either have more of Aria's forces and/or some of that Cerberus technology at his disposal. They really need to consider creating a final DLC that can give the player the OPTION of refusing the catalyst and winning the war through traditional means with all of the strength they acquired through the DLC.
