Mass Effect 3

I honestly can't imagine the creators actually having our hero be indoctrinated, but I guess they DID give players enough evidence to at least make an argument.

I honestly think they just tried to get way too artsy with the dreams/nightmares and ultimately never even explained them.

Hahah yeah it is a dreadful, cruel thing to throw at a player but that's what makes it so awesome.

If ME4 does take place in the future, the Yahg could make a pretty good bad guy.

All of this would have been good.

See...

ME3 has almost no consequences for NOT doing your War Asset recruiting. As long as you hit the "minimum" bar, you get the same three outcomes as everyone else.

I killed the Rachni queen in ME1 and it legitimately never affected my story. I just got to see a big ugly black bug instead.

And yeah, the Squadmates legit just disappearing on you (and apparently winding up back on the Normandy even after they were part of the death charge at the Citadel beam) was pretty weak. All we needed was a cutscene.

So many of the ending inconsistencies can be explained by indoctrination. It would make so much sense. I seriously hope they go that route.

This isn't an Academy Award winning movie, it's a sci-fi video game. I'm not asking for it just lay out this nice clean ending... I'm just asking for an ending at all. Did anything after the laser blast happen? Did Shepard actually stop the Reapers? Did my team survive? Did anyone survive? Did Shepard survive? These are all legitimate questions about the "ending" offered. I'd honestly take just about any explanation/epilogue... as long as we got one.

Even the game notes that were leaked back in November (which were almost spot on with the game... I didn't review them until after I'd played it, and they're accurate... couldn't seem to decide if Earth was leveled in the final battle or if it escaped unscathed.

I don't need a tidy little package, but I'd like something more than the muddled mess of conjecture we have now.

And some other stuff from the leaked script (since I just saw it recently, take it for what its worth)... the original London mission apparently called for at least one appearance by the Normandy as air support, and you allegedly made a last-second call just before the death charge about whether or not you wanted your companions to risk coming with you.

I don't think it is that hard to figure out. No matter what you pick, Shepard dies (unless he merges with the Reapers in which case Shepard as we know him dies). There's your closure. Dead Shepard. As for your crew, make of it what you want.

Some how they got on the Normandy which got caught in the explosion and crash landed on a planet. Could've been Shepard's fantasy. Could be real. Where is the planet? Does it really matter? Does it hold any relevance at that point?

As for the old man and the child....there is more closure....humanity survives, the cycle is broken, Shepard simply becomes a legend.

And regarding the perfect ending....Shepard wasn't the only N7. It was a designation, kind of like the Navy SEALs. If I'm not mistaken, the dog tag only says N7. That could be almost anyone. I think it is just further reflection that life goes on, on Earth. Humanity lived, cycle broken.

The ending isn't really as ambiguous as people seem to think.

I couldn't help but notice how ridiculously low the user scores for this game are on metacritic, did that many people truly hate the game (seemingly based on the ending and day one dlc issue) or do people really spam low scores just to make a point? I mean even if you hated the ending, the other 99% of the game was amazing, I don't get that at all

Backlash to the ending.

I REALLY hope Bioware doesn't change the ending. I don't want DLC where Shepard wakes up after the laser/final charge and says...."Just a dream! Here is DLC of what REALLY happened." That is cheap....Let's not turn Mass Effect into Dallas, please. And if do that and then have the nerve to charge money for the 'real ending,' then shame on EA and Bioware. It would be the day that video games jump the shark.

Took me about 32 hours, that's how long it takes me to get through Bioware games lol and I do everything I possibly can. In ME3 I even went around the ship after every mission to talk to everybody and took a lot of trips to the Citadel.

Hmm. Then I might be walking slow. I'm 35 hours in, and it doesn't look like I'm that close to the end (just got Ash back onboard). I'm trying to do everything, but I wind up on the Citadel alot.

these ME3 threads have more spoiler tags than any thread ive seen

Tell me about it. I think there might be a page or two on this thread that is nothing but spoiler tags.

Thank God for Spoiler tags.

People are spamming to make a point. Most people agree that everything up until the very end was near perfect.

That happens.

I'd heard that Metacritic had to take down some, for another game, because it had gotten ridiculously ****ed up how the scores were bringing down some Indie game.

For a game like Mass Effect, those scores mean nothing. But, for a smaller game...those scores could literally cost people jobs.

Which, in and of itself, is just ****ing weird to me.

I think the spamming of bad scores is pretty much all because of EA. The Day One DLC, and just a ton of EA hate.

What exactly is the [blackout]indoctrination theory[/blackout]?

I just Booted up my me3 and was met with an patch, hopefully they fixed some of the bugs/glitches

Exactly Matt, completely agreed with you.

They don't have to change anything. Just make more endings possible. I don't really see the issue in them doing that. The point of ME was to craft your own journey. Adding more endings would help further that.

yea it sucks with the spoiler tags, bc i want to be part of the convo, but at the same time i dont know what spoilers are what hahah

If you have more story to tell, tell it from the beginning. I'm trying to think of how to word this....DLC should not be an addition to the game but rather an expansion. Does that make sense? Adding endings on....that is unfair to every game who eagerly waited for and bought the game on day one. If there was more story to be told, tell it on the disc. Releasing new endings sets a very dangerous precedent. DLC should expand the game but not add onto it. Does my point make sense? Like I said, I'm trying to think of how to word it....but I can't see to say it in a way that makes sense. :funny:

I'm jealous that you're not even close to being finished lol so it evens out. :o

The M-99 Sabre is a BEASTLY assault rifle. It's like a mini cannon of sorts. A perfect blend of sniper rifle, and assault rifle.

The ending isn't really as ambiguous as people seem to think. I mean hell, I'd like to even be able to say for certain that yes, the Reapers were stopped one way or another. But a lot of ME fans aren't even sure of that.

For YOU it's not ambiguous, but being that there are massive debates going on in Mass Effect forums throughout the 'net, I'm going to have to go ahead and say yeah, the ending remains completely debatable.

And yes, when you spend 3 games telling the stories of these characters, people want to know what happens. "Ah well they landed on some planet somewhere and, well, that was it." is not an ending. It's a "we don't have an ending, here's an escape route."

And lets be real - you only get the "Perfect" ending with an insane amount of time invested and nearly some very specific choices. And it cuts to a guy in wreckage suddenly coming back to life. IT'S SHEPARD.

What does it ultimately mean? Who knows. But there's no doubt it's the Commander. They wouldn't bury an easter egg about some completely nameless N7.

As for the final scene...

While I got the point of the old man and the child, did anyone else think that was poorly written and voice-acted by all parts around? I mean it fits... just poorly produced.

ok I'm putting this up from Gameinformer. if it's been posted already my apologies

Yeah, its pretty silly to think it is anyone other than [BLACKOUT]Shepard.[/BLACKOUT]

Ha, and the fact that the [BLACKOUT]model used for the child is just a miniature version of the Stargazer himself? Just laziness all around on Bioware's part, especially since they had a model made for a child (the boy) already. [/BLACKOUT]

There was a day 1 patch to fix a face import issue, I believe. Then again, my default Shep save didn't import the face correctly even after I downloaded whatever it had me download, so maybe that patch is a lie. :ninja:

btw chief I'm fallowing your lead on my play through s I want my galactic readiness high so I can get the best out come I'm still gonna be holding back a bit on the ending just to see what comes in dlc wise. but I feel it's the best play for me, to do.
