I personally loved the ending and don't find it half assed. I must be wrong though because so many people are complaining.

I am currently on my second play through using a vanguard and shotgun-melee in normal mode. After that I will use a second and third play through to beat it in Hard-core and Insanity.

This is what someone wrote on Facebook as they defend the ending.

Even though it seems like the guy's rationale is complex, it's actually stupidly over simplified. Nobody is crying because every little moment didn't show up in a cutscene. Many are crying because not a single damn option showed up in ANY final cutscene.

Also, I find that rationale to be a little silly considering how the miniscule choices throughout the franchise repeatedly result in chance encounters and stuff. You're telling me it would've been too difficult to do that in an end custcene or epilogue? Lol come on.

Well I'm screwed either way, cuz I'm buying whatever they put out. New ending, withheld ending, it doesnt matter. I want MOREZ MASS EFFECT.

Im actually looking forward to some new MP maps. I generally dislike Horde type game modes as i find them to be dull, but dammit this is fun. LOVING my Drell.

Hahaha me too. I'm surprised at how much I love the MP, actually. I got bored of Horde really quick in Gears, but for some reason this one is just fun. Probably because I frickin' love Mass Effect. And the unlockables are actually cool rather than redundant.

I was thinking about it more and as much as I loathe the ending as is, I would be ok (not happy, but ok) with how it ended if it weren't for this one little thing:

It seems like at the end, when 3 of your crew exit the Normandy, one of those 3 is somebody you took with you on that suicidal run down to the beam. Can anyone else confirm that happened to them as well?

There is no way the Normandy could have picked them up. Of all the mind-boggling s**t in the end this bothers me the most. I can't overlook this because it's deliberate, and it seems to be an extra "WTF" moment for everybody.

And I know I said that one thing but the catalyst speaking being a mixture of 3 voices... I listened to it on YouTubes and I'm gonna crank up the volume when I'm done with my insane playthrough: You'll hear Jennifer Hale in your left ear, Mark Meer in your right. The middle is the child's voice. The whole thing is just too f**king weird.

From what I've gathered according to what people have dug up and from what I've personally inferred, it looks like a couple of different endings got smashed together into one at some point.

It sounds like the Normandy was supposed to show up and attack Harbinger during the charge on the conduit dragging him away from the battle.

My personal guess is that this would have led to Harbinger chasing the Normandy and Joker attempting to escape via the mass relay.

Also your squad/Anderson could die during the charge sequence depending on your war assets.

lol Doubt Bioware will pull an evangelion on us. beside look if you haven't heard there are recent new movies that person did and caved due to that kind of thing and made new movies with recently redone ending in those new movies too . lol I doubt Bioware wants to be doing that for the rest of their lives them selves too.

If Shepard was undergoing indoctrination why didn't the Prothean VI identify him as so? If Vega was indoctrinated why didn't the VI identify him as such? It certainly didn't have any qualms about letting you know Kai Leng and Illusive Man were drinking the Reaper kool-aid.

Why do all the endings include the stargazer stinger if only Destroy is the right one and Shepard wakes up before the stargazer scene which then proceeds to play?

Also some of that is reading way too much into things, like Shepard's gun and ammo.

Elements of the end were just badly put together, people need to deal with it.

Dude, you are not grasping the premise of the theory.

The theory is saying Harbinger is TRYING to indoctrinate him.

Kai Leng and The Illusive Man ARE indoctrinated.
Shepard is NOT indoctrinated because the reapers haven't penetrated his mind, which is what the Catalyst is TRYING to do.

Everything after Shepard gets wrecked is an INDOCTRINATION ATTEMPT, a final push after his defences have been worn down throughout the game.

Read up on indoctrination because you clearly don't know what you're talking about. I'm not trying to be elitist but if you're really criticizing something without understanding it you shouldn't bother. Get to know the process, the symptoms of indoctrination and you will see how this speculation fits into place so snugly. It makes a lot more sense than, "Bioware was lazy lol u mad?"

The stargazer scene is to show that he's retelling the classic story of how the legendary Commander Shepard defeated the reapers once upon a time. As far as I'm concerned, we haven't seen the real ending yet, evidenced by Shepard waking up in rubble.

I'll deal with it when something official is announced, coz I believe Bioware have more in them.

I can just imagine after Bioware declares completion of the game the last words were
