Mass Effect 3

Shepard's dreams get worse and worse as time goes on. Approach the shadows that start showing up in his dreams after Tuchunka and the whispers get louder. Again, they're not indoctrinating him simply at the very moment, they've finally broken him down to the point where they can try forcefully entering his mind.

So if the dreams are a sign of indoctrination then why didn't the Prothean VI detect that Shepard was being indoctrinated since those happen prior that?

Otherwise what do the Reapers have to do with Shepard's dreams?

Because the Prothean VI probably didn't know? If there were an example of the VI pointing out that someone was being indoctrinated I'd give you the point here.

As a Bioware fanboy who finished the game last night, I have to admit that that was the singularly most disappointing moment I've ever had regarding a work of fiction. It was Spider-man 3, X-Men 3, and the Matrix Sequels all rolled up into 1.

It points out Kai Leng and Cerberus are indoctrinated.

The VI says "Indoctrinated presence detected" when Kai Lang shows up on Thessia.

So the VI can detect there are Reapers on Thessia. It can detect indoctrinated agents... But it can't detect somebody undergoing indoctrination? Sure, that's logical.

:wow:

Oh my! Was it really that bad? Please don't spoil the end for me I haven't yet gotten a chance to purchase ME3, but can you describe what you didn't like about it?

so for those who bought the Collector's Edition, was the extra stuff really worth it?

same with all the Preorder bonus weapons. are they really worth it?

Hey, at least it's more logical than a personal figure to Shepard appearing as an ancient Catalyst.

And it's even more logical than the Normandy picking up your crew that are scattered around Earth just so they can jump through a relay.

The artbook and the tin case is nice and of course you get the DLC, but I think you'd honestly be fine getting the regular version and just buying From Ashes.

thanks!

but why is that a spoiler?? lol  :oldrazz:

Eh, if you're a big fan yeah. I like the art book and the digital soundtrack is awesome. The N7 patch is velcro and the comic is just the first issue of Invasion, a 4 part series about how Cerberus took over Omega. From Ashes isn't worth $10 but it's worth playing through if you're a fan. The tin case isn't as good as the one from ME2 but the art is nice. I got a code for the Argus rifle but I've never used it in-game.

You could always wait until there's a price drop.

I don't really see how jumping from one pile of problems into another is really a solution. With a re-write and revision of the Catalyst ending and an actual epilogue of substance what we have now can be salvaged.

Yea. For me it was that bad. Those were movies I only had to give up a few hours of my life for. I've dedicated so much time to the Mass Effect franchise it isn't even funny. And it was all basically negated in 15 minutes.

Why did I think it was that bad? Oh there are so many reasons. Aside from the crazy plot holes, it completely negates basically every choice you've made throughout the series, alienates crucial themes and achievements. Basically nothing you did matters in the end.

And it's a shame because the rest of the game is an achievement.

I've never understood how not liking an ending can somehow "negate" everything a person liked up to that point. It doesn't change the fact that you played and enjoyed a fantastic game.

It also does none of those other things, but it's exceedingly difficult to make angry people see reason. :P

in that case, I think I'll just wait till the regular edition goes on sale.

that will give me time to actually play through ME 2 ( on my PS3)!!

for some people, a "bad" ending ( or less than satisfactory one ) can potentially ruin the entire experience. it just makes it all the more frustrating if you loved everything leading up to the ending.

I'm one of those people......lol

It's not a problem. Reapers have a signal that can be detected and they're linked with the people they have indoctrinated. It's not a plot hole that the VI wouldn't mention there was Reaper influence upon Shepard because there wasn't any at that time.

Dude...I seriously don't see what's so hard to understand about the "theory." It's been explained a billion times that
Shep wasn't actually indoctrinated; he was BEING indoctrinated. So WTF are you guys bringing up Prothean VI and all that garbage for?

NOBODY is saying "OMG SHEP WAS INDOCTRINATED FOR THE WHOLE GAMEZ!!!1" If they were, you'd have a point...but they aren't, so you don't.

And if your whole point is "Well the VI could probably detect someone in threat of indoctrination" then that's a joke and a half, because that's JUST as speculative as every single thing that SUPPORTS the indoctrination theory that you guys just dismiss as fan wank.

The real problem is that there's no way to prove or disprove the theory; there's events in the game that support it and events that derail it, but it's not as black and white as some people make it out to be. Plain and simple, we have to wait for what Bioware says.

The VI would have detected the presence of Reaper indoctrination in Shepard's mind because it can do so, it identifies two very different sources of Reaper presence on two very different scales, one physical and one mental.

To say 'Oh well it can't detect this one because uh....' Is forcing the game to fit the indoctrination theory and not the other way around.

And if we try and say Shepard gets indoctrinated at the END when he meets the Catalyst, then I'm sorry - you don't understand how indoctrination works.

It doesn't negate what I liked about the series and the things I liked about Mass Effect 3. It was a terrific game aside from the last 15 terrible, terrible minutes.

And it does none of those other things? Okay...

So then when did I just spend 3 hours trying to rectify the centuries long Geth-Quarian War if in the end it doesn't matter because synthetic life will always kill biological? Or why do I have to kill the Geth I just rectified just because Ziggy Starchild tells me to?

Why did I save the Quarian homeworld only to have their fleet help me and end up stuck at Earth in the end?

Why did I save the Krogan from the Genophage to have their males end up stuck on earth?

Why throw out the whole idea of being a paragon of peace and understanding and uniting the galaxy when in the end the entire galaxy is cut off from one another?

No matter what you do. Everything ends up more or less the same. The entire galaxy is cut off from each other. The Reapers are defeated one way or another. You're dead. None of the painstaking actions you went through, none of the peace negotiations, none of the rest. Because one way or another, it's all gonna turn out basically the same.

As for the "theory" it's possible. no doubt. But it still pisses me off, because it shows I payed 60 bucks for an incomplete game.
