If Reeves ends up doing a trilogy, I feel like Kodi smit-mcphee will definitely end up in one of them. He’s been in two movies directed by Reeves.

He’s 22 now and looking real Jonathan Crane like :funny:

Perfect casting!

You’re disappointed that it seems to be doing well?
That’s childish :funny:

If the Batman solo really is set in the past, he won’t be running into those characters.
What’s the problem?
What exactly is so childish about not being interested in Aquaman and being worried how it's success will affect future Batman films?

outofboose has been pessimistic since the day Suicide Squad arrived

and that is over 2 years ago.

Probably another 5+ years to go because we still have Aquaman 2, 3, Shazam possibly 2, 3/BA, WW3 and beyond...and apparently Harley movies every year for 5 years from 2020

This will be Old Man Hype by the end of it

Jake Gyllenhaal would have been a wonderful Riddler.

I'm thinking now maybe that kid from "Call Me By Your Name". Lanky frame and has incredible range.

James Wan wants to do a horror themed Batman

Reeves wasn’t even on my list of directors I wanted for The Batman. I’m really not that hyped about him directing, I’m just hoping for the best.

Wan would be so much better. It’s taking Reeves forever too. I would rather they scrap Reeves’ Batman and let Wan do a horror influenced Batman. He could do wonders for the character. Just imagine Wan’s Joker... damn

I wanted Wan to direct before Reeves was chosen.

I’m thinking less about Wan’s work on the Fast franchise and Aquaman, and more his Conjuring/Insidious work.

Batman + horror is something that should’ve been done a long time ago. It just makes too much sense. Let Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth be your blueprint, and run wild with it

I’m up for Reeves Batman but otherwise totally on board with this post. I was thinking of Conjuring/Insidious too. I really hope Wan becomes a mainstay of the DCEU. He’ll definitely get the chance to do what he wants in that case and it’ll be a matter of time and timing.

I don't think Aquaman potentially being successful will affect Batman in any way.

Well, it shouldn't but WB...
One day we won’t have to say “but WB” with everything any more. I believe!

Wan wants to do dark he should convince them to get JL dark back up.
Good point. I wonder if he has any interest in that. I would like an Aquaman trilogy but outside of that, give him anything he wants.

Matt Reeves should just do a Flash vs Grodd movie
Wan should do a horror Batman movie. Even just a one off would be amazing

I think Wan will be locked with Aquaman for a while.

I couldn’t be happier that Reeves is the one doing Batman.
What we’ve heard him say about his influences and goals with Batman just have me beyond hyped.

I think Reeves will knock batman out of the park, he wasnt on anyone's list and now people are getting impatient. But the man can direct, and batman could be perfect for him.

I like that he’s wanting to do a noir/detective angle. That’s exciting. It’s still taking forever.

Rian Johnson is on my ****list for a while after Star Wars. But I loved what he did with Brick and thought he would be good for a noir/detective Batman story. Now that I’ve seen how he handles beloved franchises, I definitely don’t want to see that. Dude can stick to original stories from now on....

I kinda would rather see a horror influenced Batman. Something completely different from what we’ve seen before. Something that 100% couldn’t possibly exist in our reality. Something with a fantastical visual flair

James wan would be suited for the take on Spawn that they're trying to get going. Or even sonys original plans for venom which they claimed they wanted to go in a horror direction with. Maybe even morbius or blade. Not saying batman wouldn't or couldn't work with horror. I'm just rooting for Matt Reeves batman to be a success.

That and what he said about Hitchcock.
I was already on the Reeves train but He really got me hooked with all of that. :funny:

Definitely taking forever though.

James Wan is the right guy for the job. Why can't we have a blend of horror and noir? A detective story with strong horror elements? Think Se7en! James Wan is the guy. I'm sure of it.

I've always wanted a Batman movie that was visually inspired by ASHOSE.

Just imagine his take on Joker.

I get that people are growing impatient with Reeves, but the way some people make it sound it's as if Batman hasn't been on the big screen in years. We just came off of a successful Batman trilogy six years ago, and we just saw Batman on film last year with Justice League. It's not as if we are starved for this character. The Batman coming out in 2020 or even 2021 isn't exactly the end of the world. Just sucks we have to wait.

I'd love to see a horror-bent Batman someday, but for now I am very excited at the prospect of Reeves giving us a noir/detective Batman. I've wanted to see it for a long time, and seeing that aspect of the character given its proper due is much more important to me.

It depends on what was the last Batman film that made you happy. Some will say JL had a great Batman. Other will say BB was the last great Batman film.

Also the fact we are approaching the two year anniversary of Reeve's being on board for the film. No matter how you slice it this has taken exceptionally long.

Nolan signed on for Begins in January 2003, and was filming by March 2004. I think if they had an A+ script like they did with Begins, then The Batman would probably be filming right now.

Something is off with Reeves’ Batman. I’m really not trying to be pessimistic, just realistic.

It might not be Reeves’ fault at all. Perhaps WB is waiting for the reception to Birds of Prey and Joker to pull the trigger on The Batman. The situation surrounding Batman is actually really weird right now, I bet WB doesn’t know what to do.

I kinda just wish that they would commit to The Batman being set in the same universe as Joker. Reeves is probably uncomfortable with the idea that Harley and Joker as characters are being developed by different filmmakers. He doesn’t really have free reign.

Or maybe his script just isn’t that good and it’s taking a really long time to get it up to par? I’m not really sure. It’s a shame that we have three disparate Batman verse films. If BOP and/or Joker are uber successful, that leaves The Batman in a weird spot.

Or maybe it is none of that. Jesus you sound like a clickbaiter with all that wild speculation based on nothing...
