The problem is a vicious fighter can't last more than 30 seconds in a fight against Batman. Even in Killing Joke Batman and the animated series Batman pretty much outmatched him rapidly. What's the point on making them have a fight if Batman is gonna take the upper hand very fast anyway?

Joker is a lover, not a fighter. That's why every Joker action figure comes with a flower :o

It's ironic that Deathstroke seems to be one of the few hasn't who HASN'T been rumored for this film, when he was the only thing that was confirmed when Affleck was attached to the project.

But if you want to bring in a physical threat at some point that's not Bane or Ra's, he could still be a viable option.
I do hope we still get Deathstroke somewhere along the line. I want to see Batman’s 1 on 1 combat skills properly tested.

Oh. I forgot Deathstroke. Lol.

Eh... Id much rather see Deathstroke vs Nightwing

I’m still so happy Deathstroke isn’t the villain in The Batman

Agree with deathstroke and nightwing being paired up instead I of batman. I feel like if we get some kind great hand to hand combat fight it should be with a newly rejuvenated and youthful ras al ghul. Only after a throw down with his loyal body guard ubu.

Agreed. I mean I wouldn't be totally against Deathstroke but there's so many other villains to see honestly. And much more deserving.

Deathstroke wouldn’t need to be a main villain. He could be a henchman. So rather than fighting a bunch of goons, you fight a bunch of goons with a boss character. You still have Riddler as main villain with Two Face and Penguin as gang leaders or whatever.

I’m not surprised Deathstroke isn’t anywhere near this thing. I’m guessing Matt reeves wants total creative ownership of this movie and doesn’t want to give the impression that anything from affleck’s script Is being carried over.

I don't want to see Deathstroke either, leave room for more Batman villains.
Yeah this recent push for Deathstroke to be a Batman villain isn’t really working for me. Like really? Batman doesn’t have enough great villains? Deathstroke is a Titans villain through and through. His nemesis is Dick Grayson. He can get into skirmishes with Bruce, but his beef is with Dick and the Titans.

The 2003 animated Titans series solidified that dynamic in my mind. I’ve read Marv Wolfman’s Titans run which introduced Deathstroke and established the Slade/Dick rivalry, and I still think the 2003 Teen Titans show did the best job of establishing the Slade/Dick dynamic. Slade and Dick are so much more interesting than Bruce and Slade because Slade represents a dark mirror to Dick’s own father figure (Bruce Wayne). He represents that temptation to stray towards the dark side. Thematically, Slade Wilson is necessary to Dick Grayson’s growth as a character, which will always make him more of a Robin/Nightwing/Titans villain than yet another Batman villain.

A $50m Deathstroke movie from Gareth Evans would have been incredible. Him as the main villain in Batman never sat well with me though, didn't seem like a good fit for Bruce considering most of his antagonists are pretty psychologically complex

We should’ve known it would be Riddler and Penguin. They were the obvious choices. They’re the two biggest villains that haven’t been given a modern film reintroduction.

You just know Mister Freeze and Poison Ivy are coming soon...

yup, and a mobster, which is the version we haven't seen on film yet.
The Chechen should’ve been PSH as Oswald Cobblepot. With a little rewrite that would beef up his character, we could’ve easily gotten a Nolan Penguin

So we are probably getting a Penguin who is a contemporary of Batman. Nice twist.

Makes more sense that way if you’re going to play up the differences between the Cobblepot and Wayne families. Now that i think about it, The Batman (2004) did a really great job at highlighting those differences.

Is anyone against seeing the Kabuki Twins?

We might not be hearing casting news very soon after all.
