FINALLY a final on my Sentinel/Rogue/Magneto picture.

The idea I hope is clear, but in explanation Rogue is using Magneto's power to force the Sentinel to trap him in its hand, AND at the same time tear its head off...

i actually disagree... certainly it would not be in reality a particularly comfortable position, but i think it's fully in keeping with the way you stylize your characters' anatomies. i think it looks fine.

the pic as a whole, on the other hand, looks crap! :P

Well... I took in all of this and here's the thing. I'd already decided to fix this based on the same gripe in my WIP (Work In Progress) thread, but forgot to once I got into shading.

SADLY, I lost the file with all the background updates, so to fix it I had to go back and redo the clouds, the footprints, etc... AND fix the leg and redo a lot of the shading and lighting stuff on Rogue... So it was more work than it would seem...

BUT I finally got through my week, and fixed it.. posting shortly. Thanks for the kind words, and helpful critiques, as always.

Well I guess it's lost in execution, but I was never really trying to imply a hook-up. I was going more for Rogue absorbing Mag's powers and using them and the sentinel as tools to trap him... The kiss was just a cocky way to absorb the powers.

I can completely see it not reading that way, but that was the intention.

Looks fantastic Matt. I'm glad you went back to fix the leg, because it was really holding this piece back. As any image with an obvious flaw, it draws the eye in. With that corrected, it can definitely be enjoyed to it's full potential.

Why I oughta.... I was TRYING to make it look like he was being hit by the bright light of the energy ball, but now that you say it, it does look a little pink doesn't it? Opps.

Rav, my hero! I appreciate you having my back, but I really want criticism to flow liberally in this thread, as long as it's constructive.

I have thick-ish skin, so no need to worry about me curled in the fetal position based someone's comments. Plus, in a very real way I rely on critiques to get better. I haven't spent day 1 in an art class since jr. high so criticisms can be very helpful.

As for those specific critiques, you'll notice nothing has changed in my picture as a result of them... Not because the the lighting concept or the general 'story' of the picture couldn't have been executed in a stronger way, but because I listened and thought, 'ya know, I'm happy enough with what I achieved this time'.

So I guess what I'm saying is, keep the critiques coming. I won't always change things, but all comments DEFINITELY inform new stuff I work on so they're invaluable to me.

Lol... yeah I totally get the criticism/improvement thing, and I wasnt actually picturing you as a weepy, snotty mess... although I might be a little bit now.

I really wasn't suggesting that you were taking the comments personally, but rather that they arent always right - personally I know that sometimes I need to stand by the visual spawn I've created. It's always good to hear the critiques and comments, but sometimes it's also perfectly acceptable to point at them and laugh!

As for the Joker/Batman pic... it's not ALL good. I do find the pic slightly revolting. But then thats nothing to do with you, more to do with the fact that old people creep me the-eff out.

UPDATE!

Final!

This is the currently-referred-to-as final version of my Ivy Falling picture I've been working on.
I was trying to get more depth, once again, and this time trying for a more dynamic pose...

There was some issue of the water @ the bottom looking like the sky. I added some rocks in the water, spray, haze, and light reflections of the rocks to make it look as much like water as I can pull off.

Also threw some birds in the sunrise sky at the top to make it sell more as the sky.

Hope it helps.

PS: her a$$ is a subtle/not-so-subtle shout-out to blksuperman2's stuff because it always amazes me how he can make a billion different brilliant compositions where women's a$$es face the viewer. Hope I did you proud, blksuperman2!
