Marvel Films MCU Phase IV!

But in all seriousness, this SCREAMS one and done. I would be very surprised if Natalie is hanging around for Avengers 5.

As others have stated, putting the blame on Dr. Manhattan while keeping the same global unity ending didn't make a lick of sense. I would have preferred the cephalopod.

1. Then whats the point of making her Thor ? Yes nothing related to story or character... just PC , marketing and mandates.

2. People who think the space squid would be great for a movie should not be able to judge Watchmen or even talk about it imho.

This is extremely silly. Disney is a cold, bloodless multi-billion dollar media organization. They are not making movies just to cause people like you discomfort (though that is a delightful side effect). They are trying to make a buck. And as we've seen with Black Panther and Captain Marvel (and the F&F franchise) diversity and inclusion sells. Regardless of all the pearl clutching it generates in certain types of people.

The point of making Jane Thor is that the comic book source material is terrific - you should try reading it! - and an extremely talented director who delivered a very profitable film for your company is interested in translating that story for the big screen. So you give Mr. Waititi the green light and figure out where you are going to park the couple of hundred million in profits the film will generate. The only concern is whether or not people will be able to stomach watching the hideous, elderly hag Natalie Portman on screen for an extended period. Time to bring out the de-aging CGI!

So.........people that read, love and actually understand the source material upon which the disappointing movie was based?

It’s not really that confusing. Characters like Flash and Green Lantern have mantles that can be adopted by other characters, agreed. In the case of Thor it is just his name. But his name happens to be badass, as is the character himself, and he doesn’t have a dedicated alias. So it wouldn’t be surprising if people inheriting his power set want to turn his name into a mantle and use it in his honour. They certainly aren’t going to do that with the less badass sounding Donald Blake name!

Re:Watchmen, I’m 52 years old, suffered through all the delays of that series when it first came out. I also took some film classes as a film buff, never majored in it as my degree was in Biology and I had to focus on other sciences. That said I couldn’t care less if someone thinks I should not be able to talk about Watchmen be it series or film. Alan Moore himself couldn’t stop me and actually in the interviews I’ve read with him when he’s talked about the film and the comic he wrote, we agree on a good 80% of it at least.

Also, Thor has flown in the films at various points.

1. I dont agree with the Jane/Thor direction and im not excited about Shang-Chi because he is 4th tier. Whats the problem here ? You re gonna change my mind ? Nope.
There is nothing more to discuss really. You can still like or love all that. I just dont. Simple. No further analysis required.

2. People need to understand that some ridiculus moronic stuff in comic book PAGES cannot be translated to screen. Same goes for some cringy animated stuff. Watchmen is a cult movie and a giant space squid would have made it worse. Loving the source material doesnt change anything btw.

The D23 lineup has been posted and right now it doesn't appear as though there will be any major MCU reveals or announcements.

The D23 Expo 2019 Announcement Round-Up!

Yeah. I think Marvel might wait until the have more things squared away before they share, like casting at least. Them pulling a F4 cast onstage would be a huge deal and maybe by D23 they are still too early? I dunno.

One thing though is by making the phases smaller they could pop something out next SDCC.

True but having Foster/Portman done the Thor thing instead of Thompson/Valkyrie is a bad call.

Maybe they should cast a 5 foot 5 inch guy for the next Thor.
That would be amazing without special camera work to trick people.

Look its Thor. Just look down.

Valkyrie captured people and sold them as slaves. Who knows how many hundreds of people she got killed in the Grandmaster's arena.

She's not worthy of Mjolnir.

Val's got a flying horse! I wouldn't feel too bad for her.

Wow, how's the view from up there?

Pretty bad.

Valkyrie captured people and sold them as slaves. Who knows how many hundreds of people she got killed in the Grandmaster's arena.

She's not worthy of Mjolnir.

You kinda ignore the fact that past actions dont matter. She wasnt worthy then but can be worthy now.
Im pretty sure mjolnir evaluates your current worthiness.

People really need to know how the mantle of “Thor” is passed down, like they didn’t show how that would/could happen in the first movie?

Are we really that dense or are we just picking nits for the sake of it?

It feels short but we're getting, what, ten projects in 2 years? This is clearly a sort of transitional phase and I think that's the right approach.

There was a surprising amount of people who walked away from SDCC feeling somewhat disappointed. Phase 4 isn't as earth-shattering as Phase 3 was, but I'd argue it's going to be just as important in the long-run. People could easily start to drift away after End Game and I think Phase 4 is centered around re-building hype and buzz around the MCU's future.

I do get the disappointment.

After the Fox deal went through, and with the resounding thud made by Dark Phoenix, you can bet the majority of the fans in attendance were hoping for X-Men and Fantastic Four news.

What they got was -- 'we haven't even had the chance to tell you our plans for Fantastic Four and Mutants'.

They didn't even get a status of Deadpool, though in a post-presentation interview, Feige did say Deadpool was lumped in with the mutants.

Pretty sure they weren’t allowed to officially start pre-production on any Fox property until the ink had dried on those contracts. Meaning any sort of forward motion (developing a script, commence casting, etc, let alone securing release dates) did not happen until relatively recently, so if you were looking forward to an official announcement you were setting yourself up for disappointment.

But in Valkyrie's case her "past actions" are depriving people of their freedom and sending them to their almost certain death for money. That's really bad. Has she ever expressed remorse for it? It's gonna take a bit more than helping defeat two giant *****es like Thanos and Hela to redeem her.

Jane as the next Thor makes much more sense. I'm not a huge fan of her (as a matter of fact I like Valkyrie more) but at least her worst crime is being boring. :o

When I saw that hideous old crone Portman shuffle across the stage I was thinking "Have they cast Agatha Harkness for WandaVision?"

Natalie Portman for the next iteration of Aunt May! :o

Beta Ray Bill needs to appear in the MCU asap.

I'm excited for all of them. But I definitely agree with Doctor Strange being number 1. This movie is going to be crazy.
