Marvel Films MCU Phase IV!

Might be a fun post of a future thread, guess the roster of the next Avengers film, although I can think of at the very least 3-4 who will be part of it for sure, any new members might not even be introduced yet.

Face facts, there is no Avengers movie in Phase 4, more than likely there won’t be one in Phase 5 either, because they cost too much. Besides, who wants to see an Avengers without Tony and Steve? I know I don’t.
You realize everyone here is on tour whole stunt, right? You aint fooling anyone.

Disney's stock is down. They missed projections because they spent too much money on IW and EG. :funny:

Wut ?

You re mistaken big time. There will be a new Avengers film before 2025 either A5 or New A or Young A whatever it is.

About the profitability of the Avengers films you re mistaken once again.

Lets take a look.

Highest grossing solo MCU films vs Avengers films.

Black Panther
Box office $1346,9 mil (~50% goes to cinema owners)
BO Profit $665 mil
Total cost $300 mil (production & marketing) = $365 mil profit.

Iron Man 3
Box office $1214,8 mil
BO Profit $600 mil
Total cost $350 mil = $250 mil profit

CA 3 Civil War
Box office $1153,3 mil
BO Profit $565 mil
Total cost $350 mil = $215 mil profit

Captain Marvel
Box office $1128,3 mil
BO Profit $555 mil
Total cost $290 mil = $265 mil profit

Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Box office $863,8 mil
BO Profit $430 mil
Total cost $320 mil = $110 mil profit

Thor Ragnarok
Box office $854 mil
BO Profit $425 mil
Total cost $290 mil = $135 mil profit

Guardians of the Galaxy
Box office $773,3 mil
BO Profit $380 mil
Total cost $290 mil = $90 mil profit

CA 2 The Winter Soldier
Box office $714,3 mil
BO Profit $350 mil
Total cost $290 mil = $60 mil profit

Now lets look at the Avengers films.

Avengers 1
Box office $1518,8 mil
BO Profit $750 mil
Total cost $375 mil = $375 mil profit

Avengers AoU
Box office $1405,4 mil
BO Profit $680 mil
Total cost $410 mil = $270 mil profit

Avengers IW
Box office $2048,4 mil
BO Profit $975 mil
Total cost $475 mil = $500 mil profit

Avengers EG
Box office $2797 mil
BO Profit $1300 mil
Total cost $525 mil = $775 mil profit

As you clearly see you dont know what you re talking about.

The Avengers films are the most profitable by far and the only solo movies that come even close are Black Panther and Captain Marvel and both will have an increased budget for their sequel with limited room for box office improvement.

So yes. You re wrong.

One should note that these are all very conservative estimates, since those budget values are almost certainly much higher than reality. The actual profits for all the aforementioned films are almost certainly significantly higher, even just at the box office.

To certain someone here, opinions you disagree with are not “trolling”, and frivolous abuse of the report button is itself against forum rules.

Exactly. I'm not interested in seeing the same line up of characters forever.
As a comic fan that's always been the fun of all star groups. What kind of mixture of characters can you get? The JLA and the Avengers have in the comics always had periods of funky but interesting line ups and if you think some baseline fealty to comics is a reason to laud a film or studio for its output then this would be part and parcel of that.

So bring on the line up that brings back Vision and Scarlet Witch and Black Panther and Capt. Marvel but also puts Shang Chi, Photon, Kate Bishop and Gilgamesh on the team. I'm open to that kind if thing.

That sounds amazing! I love X-Men, Avengers and JL comics because of the rotating rosters. So much variety you get over the years and then you have issues where everyone turns up old and new.

Face facts
Why? You never do. :D:

Why did they make the high-cost IW and EG at all? They could have stopped after the first 2 Avengers disasters. Did they forget that they have to pay for stuff?

Because IW and EG was already planned before Disney forked over a ridiculous $71Billion for Fox.
Remember the original price was $52 billion, but the Comcast’s bid increased the price.
So Disney now has less cash on hand than they originally planned. They have to make that up by cutting something.

Ice,

Don't you understand that Disney would have bailed on those 2 movies that grossed almost $5B if only they'd known that Disney was going to buy Fox for more than they originally planned? You obviously don't understand how things work. Next thing I know, you're going to think Disney shouldn't buy the Tap Dancing Jesus figures so they can afford these travesties.

One of my big disappointments with Age of Ultron is that we didn't get the Kooky Quartet standoff pose. It was right there, Whedon!

And I completely agree that line up flexibility is a major strength of Superhero All Star Squads. I'd love to see Korg & Miek on the team. And if Gemma Chan is playing Sersi, the awkward meeting with Carol might be worth giving her a spot on the squad.

Plenty of names on the roster to carry on the Avengers without Steve & Tony, without even having to worry about Thor or Hulk too.

One of the interesting aspects of the news that Gemma Chan may be "recycled" in the MCU with (presumably) her natural skin tone is that this may open up the door for additional returns. Could other blue folks like Lee Pace and Michael Rooker come back paler? What about Michael B. Jordan, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johannson, or RDJ rejoining the MCU with alien skin tones and/or facial prosthetics? I'm interested in seeing if this is unique for Ms. Chan or recasting folks in different roles will be something we will see more often going forward.

I think it would only happen with actors who were on the rise and were underutilized by Marvel in their first appearance

I could've seen Idris Elba coming back in a different form if he hadn't shown up in 5 of the films
Natalie Dormer maybe, Ty Burrell I could see, people like that, who've become more famous since their first, small MCU role
not quite related, but I'd love to see Stanley Tucci be an alien, maybe another brother to Collector and Grandmaster

^Don't even remember Dormer in one of these movies, lol. Which one was it?

Rupert Murdoch and Comcast is laughing their a** off. Disney has lost $170 million in the third quarter alone, wiping out any gains by the Endgame, Aladdin, Toy Story etc...
The problem is the Fox acquisition and performance. The Fox films are underperforming, particularly Dark Phoenix. Thanks to Comcast, Disney overpaid for Fox. The Fox studio wasn’t worth $71.3 billion. Iger talked shareholders into buying Fox anyway, he needs to be fired.
Comcast had no intention on buying Fox, they only made a bid to make Disney overpay for Fox. This hurts Disney bottom line and Iger fell into that trap.

I see the poster has piled on additional gobbledygook to the word salad of easily disproven nonsense. But I remain strong and will not engage!

Yeah, you don’t need to. Seriously just sit back and laugh, it’s much more fun.

The MCU still has Thor, Black Panther, Dr. Strange, Captain Marvel and Spider-Man......they will be fine.
