MCU X-Men - Part 3

Eh. She's not completely evil and she does care about her children, but I don't know about deeply. She's been known to disregard their well being if it's in conflict with her agenda... And I'm not even talking about her relationship with Graydon.

Well we know unless you have the X-gene, she could give a damn about you, but I disagree a little. She may not show it as much with Nightcrawler, but I think what makes her intriguing is how much she loves Rogue.

For some reason I always found their dynamic and how they came to be a family very interesting.

Speaking of Graydon, he’d be too good to pass up as a MCU X-Men antagonist. The unwanted human son of two of the world’s most dangerous mutants, spearheading a crusade against them.

He could be in cahoots with Thunderbolt Ross and Senator Kelly for the Mutant Registration Act.

His most significant story was God Loves, Man Kills, and that was done in a good film. I see people's arguments for Dark Phoenix but this story doesnt need to be repeated

I agree. Enough of Stryker. And God Loves, Man Kills doesn't need to be adapted again. However, I would like to see anti-mutant hate explored through religion, which FOX never did. And I'd like to see something like this onscreen eventually:

But it doesn't have to be with Stryker, neither in a reboot of God Loves, Man Kills.

Mystique always looks out for number one. Some of her actions might benefit her kids but that’s never her primary objective.

And that’s why fans love (to hate) her.

Yep. I like comics Mystique and also the interpretation of the early X-films. I look forward to the eventual MCU version of Mystique too, just not for a while.

Yes please. All good examples of new directions outside of getting more Magneto, Mystique and Stryker. I want all those characters eventually too, but there are many villains out there after all these decades of comics.

Plus I think fans still want to see a really good Sentinel storyline and I'd like a true to comics attempt at adaprlting Nimrod's design.

The real Raven Darkholme is just a misunderstood mother who cares deeply for her mutant children. She's just a more lethal Selina Kyle.

Wow. That's some peak 80's art right there. I can't unsee Borat Mankini Nightcrawler. :hehe:

Another idea for human to use for the anti-mutant hate rhetoric is Cameron Hodge. The dude was nuts and his villian design was downright creepy

Exactly. He'd be an easy one to adapt

which is why I suggested Graydon Creed and an amagalm of the Friends and Church of Humanity. They can fufill a similar role that Stryker did but Creed has the added layer of being a child of 2 mutants and "brother" to two X-men. There's dynamics there they can play with, which Stryker lacks

You realize the character isn't a teenager so why does of all people Logan have to be a twentysomething?
Also this Jack O'Connell guy has the most baby face compared to all the actors I suggested and you know... the character of Wolverine. I mean this guy is 32 he's not ancient.

Either way it's not about my choices being best just that that guy looks nothing like the character. I mean have any of you guys actually seen Logan?
This is arguably the most iconic image of Logan does Jack look anything like this character?

Say what you will about Hugh but he did look like this character outside the height.
I think O'Connell's looks feels distinctly not traditionally handsome and pretty boyish. He may not be sporting a beard, but I think he doesn't look cutesy or like a bad boy that needs a good woman to make him a better man or like a gruff man with a heart of gold like Hugh felt like most of the time, and I liked Hugh in the role, but I think trying something different will help the transition and not encourage comparisons and allow the audience's perception of the character to be questioned. It's the same reason why I would like Xavier to be played by Ralph Fiennes, to have a more weird, detached version instead of the soft spoken kind man Stewart had. Also I'd like an actor in his 20's so the character doesn't age as noticeably.

Yesss

.. And HELL YES.

I could see them both used in the same movie. With Creed being the face of the anti-mutant movement and Hodge being the behind the scenes guy that eventually becomes the mechanized monster.

I've never seen Jack OConnel in anything, so I don't know about acting skills, but I don't think he looks "boyish" at all.

Out of all the young actors suggested for Logan, Alex Hogh Andersen is still my favorite.

Any choices for Magneto? There seems to be a major lack of fan casting for a potential Erik.

I could see Norman Reedus as a more comic accurate Magneto:

Oded Fehr I think could work. Or if we can't get any jewish actors, I think you could just play it however. Though Denzel Washington is an intriguing idea to me.

Oh man, that could work really well

I was actually thinking Daniel Dae Kim would be a good choice if they decided to change his origin. Navid Negahban too.

If any walking dead alum were to be considered for magneto I see David Morrissey or even Andrew Lincoln. I dont see Reedus as Mags imo. But he'd make a kickass avalanche or pyro.

A good number of people really want Denzel to be Erik Lensherr, when he’s the real En Sabah Nur.

Liam Neeson would make a good Mags.

No reason not to have Grayson in there, and he could also hang around rather than be a one and done.

Daniel Dae Kim would’ve made an excellent Iron Fist but that’s another thread topic.

My choice is still Navid Negahban. They've got to update Magneto's backstory. Making him a victim of Middle East violence would be a great way to keep his story relevant.

Oded Fehr has the luxury of actually being Jewish AND looking exactly like Jim Lee Magneto:

He's also much bulkier and physically intimidating compared to McKellen and Fassbender. Perfectly encapsulates what i want out of a comic accurate Magneto in the MCU.

Navid has been my choice for a middle-eastern Erik ever since you suggested him last December. Guy is a phenomenal actor and he would perfectly fit a modern, politically relevant take on Magneto

Only thing that sours that piece of casting is that he’s already the Shadow King on Legion. But I like that hook of Magnus being from the Middle East, it is different and relevant.

I never really paid attention to Fehr outside of those Mummy movies when I was a kid. I had no clue he is actually Israeli. He does have the look for a Jim Lee Magneto.

Denzel would never take the role and I find it really disappointing and insulting to take away one underrepresented group to give to another. It's like pitting them against each other to see who is more culturally important. Oded is fantastic choice I really hope they go for him.

Darn, I had completely forgotten that he was in Legion. (Still haven't actually gotten time to watch it) It wouldn't be the first time they've overlapped with other medium, but that does kind of put a damper on his potential. I still think that placing his origin in the middle east is the best way to update him.

I would've preferred the cleaner look he had when he was a little younger and I don't know what his physical body structure is these days, but I think he has an intense vibe and commanding voice for the role, he's jewish, is in his late 40's-could pass for early 50's I think like I'd prefer and looking at that comic image I can see the resemblance neatly. He works for me.

He's completely unrecognizable in Legion and it's not in the MCU
