He'd have inflatable man boobs for when he get's tired

Which would be all the time. :o

Seriously though, he'd burn so much fat. When have you ever seen an Olympic swimmer who is overweight?

And I don't understand why they're always worth to be villains, but not to be heroes.
If it’s someone super active it’s just as hard to believe for me whether they are a hero or villain. That makes no difference. The only exception would be someone whose ability is related to their size like Blob, but you could have a hero like that too. I wouldn’t mind seeing someone like Goldballs, anyone who starts as a regular mutant and then joins the team.

Portly villains tend to be evil mastermind types who have minions to handle fighting and other physically tasking stuff. You don't see Penguin duking it out with Batman for obvious reasons.

Kingpin and Blob would be exceptions. For Blob it's his mutant power, and for Kingpin he is a freak of nature (not that far removed being a mutant too). While he looks morbidly obese he has a freakish anatomy so all that flab is actually muscle.

Most heroes though, while there are many with big brains, have physically active roles too. Fighting, jumping, running, and let's face it, looking good in action too.

And this isn't a trope exclusive to comics. Action film heroes are usually played by fit actors & actresses too, and in some cases they have to work out like crazy to get in shape for it.

Out of curiosity, how so? What didn't you like about her most recent roles?

To put it bluntly, she’s a bird.

I was looking at some radio show she did maybe a year ago and I was just surprised by how ignorant she sounded. Then she was in that ‘slave play’ theater production that romanticized and made a comedy out of slavery that was just too much.

I don’t quite understand this debate. You wouldn’t generally have plus size X-Men because of how much activity they are doing per day. You don’t have any plus size marathon world record holders or 100m record holders as the training involved to get to that stage makes it difficult to remain plus size even if you started that way.

You’d have plus size regular mutants, just not the guys who are in the field all the time on life and death missions, and otherwise training in the danger room.

Yeah this is getting ridiculous. They don't have to look like Jim Lee drawings but X-Men on the field should naturally be fit.

To play devil's advocate-- the X-Men themselves would be fit for obvious reasons. But that doesn't apply to a random mutant civilian, or a freshman student who has had no formal Danger Room training. That's where you would logically find body diversity and I think this is why Kitty in particular was mentioned since she'd fall into the former two categories

I thought Kitty was rather novel when she first showed up being younger, slim and comparatively flat chested. In a medium where the heroines at that time were drawn to pretty much all have idealised curvy hour glass figures and ample breasts, she was quite different as originally presented.

After getting Robert Pattinson as Batman, I kinda hope we also get an unconventional choice for Wolverine. Someone like Daniel Radcliffe, Zac Efron or Shia LaBeouf would be a nice surprise because all 3 of them are infamous in pop culture but they've all proven themselves immensely as actors since they've stepped out of the spotlight. Shia LaBeouf in particular would go method for Wolverine

I wouldn't mind some body diversity among the X-Men provided that it made sense.

For example, I wouldn't be against a thicc Emma Frost. Her main powers are telepathy and turning into diamond, nothing that requires her to be in peak shape.

"But Emma is supposed to be attractive!", someone will object. To which I respond... exactly. :sly:

Christina Hendricks would nail it. ;)

But I want Emma not to be white this time.

Changing the subject, I'm still processing that FFH twist. But I appreciate they want to take the character to new places and surprise everybody.

With that said, I'm curious about what kind of game changing twist they could come up for the X-Men.

In regards to the body type debate, ignoring characters like Emma or Goldballs who aren't physicaI fighters, I would also just like to point out that being physically fit and having a traditional superhero physique are not irrevocably tied...

Daniel Radcliffe? Zac Efron? Shia LaBeouf?
Yea give conventional leading men-type franchise actors who Hollywood considers conventionally good-looking more mainstream roles. They surely need it.

Xavier (Moore) and Logan are two characters who shouldn't be played by hunks.

They could have Rebel Wilson or Amy Schumer play Emma Frost. :o

I wouldn't consider any of those 3 hunks besides maybe Efron. Radcliffe and LaBeouf are definitely not your stereotypical 6'4 square jawed leading man in the same way Hugh Jackman is. But maybe I didn't make myself clear enough the first time, I mean an unconventional choice for Wolverine himself the same way Robert "Edward" Pattinson is now Batman -- that somehow works. Radcliffe in particular is a pretty popular fancast since Boss Logic vouched for him. Efron is still known by many as the pretty boy from High-school musical and Leboeuf's reputation does need to be stated.

But I'd be interested in having the element of unpredictability in a Wolverine because of the casting

If "unpredictability" gives me bad to terrible actors like Efron to LaBeouf, two middling actors who I would never want in a Marvel--much less an X-men--movie then Please...for the love of god...Give Me Safe.

Efron proved himself in a masterful performance as Ted Bundy. And I don't know what world LaBeouf is a terrible actor, all hes been doing since he disappeared from the spotlight are character-driven indie films, not unlike Robert Pattinson.

This is exactly why I'd want someone like them in the role because your reaction to the mere idea of it echoes how people felt about Heath Ledger when he was cast and Pattinson last month.

This is usually a telltale sign that we are going to get something really special.

That you think those two have analogous body shapes says everything.
Yeah, that poster once tried to explain that Selena Gomez was "too fat" to play MJ, so...
I think Radcliffe lacks the grit that I’m looking for when thinking about an actor who can play Wolverine in the MCU.

Wolverine will definitely be a hard role to recast.
I think Radcliffe in Woman in Black definitely gave off Wolverine vibes. Now, the "tough guy" side of the character I don't know if he's ever fully dived into yet, but I would have faith in him to pull it off. I would say that "acting tough" is honestly not very hard. If you can act well in general, typically you can act convincingly tough, no matter how mild-mannered you are in real life.

I want someone tall for Scott Summers like much taller than James Marsden.

Someone taller than the guy playing Logan, that's for sure.
