Supergirl Melissa Benoist IS Supergirl/Kara - Part 1

She did it for her niece, who is apparently a huge Minecraft fan...

Folks get set for your hearts to melt. From Arrow/Supergirl's great stunt Man James "Bam Bam" Bamford comes two of the cutest pictures you'll ever see. They are of his little daughter Jade wanting to meet Melissa Benoist. Well leave it to "Bam Bam" to see to it that it happens, and then some.

In picture one, Melissa does the shirt rip (in STAR Labs by the way, so this is from the Crossover) and was done after a take where Kara is about to become Supergirl. And looking on is little Jade.

”Daddy can I come to your work and meet Supergirl? She can teach me how to fly.” And that she did. ?? @melissabenoist made her dream come true.....and then Jade called “action” , and I realized what we were really in store for.

As if that wasn't enough, he put up this picture which combines two iconic Superman/Supergirl poses in one...the shirt rip and the power pose.

I think I like this one just as much.

Leave it to Melissa to make a little girl's dream come true. This is super cuteness.

This place is surprisingly quiet after that amazing Overgirl personality played by Melissa. I'm wondering how many Supergirl versions we can be treated to before the series end. That split screen scene was awesome. They were entirely different people.

I love that she sang a mellow Runnin' home to you for Barry and Iris Wedding. Again, I was hoping to get a gang together to bombard the producers into getting out a full proper studio version with the original tempo for purchase. I've seen a lot of youtubers want a full version.

And kudos to Kelly. weren't you the first to say that Kara was singing.

Anyway, I loved it and repeated that at least 20 times before I moved on from that scene LOL.

Two Melissas for the price of one.

Why would those scenes be painful?

I'm glad that Melissa got to sing again.

Although why didn't Barry ask her to sing "I'm your super friend" instead when Iris walked down the aisle? :oldrazz:

Because they have a lot of Melissa talking to herself, without masks or other ways to easily disguise the double presence.

I wouldn't call that painful per say.... knackering maybe, but not painful

If you were around for season one we got two Melissas in the Bizarro and the Blood Bonds episodes also.

Yeah, just watch some of the behind the scenes interviews with Tatiana Maslany about Orphan Black to get an understanding of how tedious these can by.

Even though it isn't quite as much as Orphan Black, they still have to shoot the scene twice as many times.

Yeah, and there's no one to act off. Actually, that's also true of the green screen action scenes, which I'd imagine to be quite difficult. I'm betting we'd all feel quite silly but actors, the good ones, manage to make it realistic.

Yeah I wouldn't say those scenes were painful. Just tedious and time consuming. But she probably would've acted opposite a double for one version and then against the same double in the other position for the other version.

O, I have. I've been a fan of Melissa's work since before Glee when I noticed her in this creepy Criminal Intent episode where she was a teenage ballet dancer being stalked. I started to watch Glee regularly because of her, even though I'd only seen Glee on and off before that. Totally fell for her voice, and then fell in love with her acting after Whiplash. So off course, I followed her to Supergirl. :yay:

I did drop the series from same day viewing in latter part of season 2 though. But now this season has me hooked.

Come to think of it, I actually thought Bizarro girl ended on a sad melancholy note for both characters and I wouldn't mind knowing what became of her. Probably not likely, but isn't she in some kind of coma waiting for a cure that the DEO said they would work on.

True, but she also probably got some great nap time in there as well....lol

Melissa was in Criminal Intent? :wow: I don't remember her in that.

Also, I have to say I was glad to see her without the tattoo.

Supergirl has a great split-screen scenes when MB is doing dual roles. It's on par with Star Trek: The Next Generation, which is known for great FX.

I hated a lot of the dialogue they gave Overgirl, but Melissa did well with it when she had something decent to say, imo.

I loved the dialogue about their hearts. That was well played.

Yeah, that was one bit I liked. It was mostly the scenes she had with other characters where she's basically spouting the most clichéd mustache-twirling villain dialogue ever ("save your strength for those heroes! When we find them we will kill every last one of them!" "No Kara, you're the perversion!" "You dare question your führer?!" "Kill her for the Fatherland!" etc.). Even her first scene with her hubby - "Do you trust me?" "Yes. With all of my heart." No one talks like that, lol. It's like they were trying extra hard to make her sound all proper, sophisticated and "superior," they just made her sound ridiculous.

They should've just given Overgirl Kara a German accent. Why didn't she and Oliver have one for that matter? It would've set them apart and not made them seem just like the regular versions.

Also, they should've given Nazi Oliver an eyepatch as an ironic nod to what he did to Deathstroke. Maybe a more heroic Earth X version of Slade could've done that to him.

Oh god, that is the last thing I want majority of these actors to try and accomplish lol.

The acting and writing for them already wasnt up to par. Adding in fake accents would have only made it worse
