I wasn't originally going to see this, because I actually hadn't seen Mission Impossible 2 or 3. Is that fine?

I thought it was pretty dang good. A lot of great set pieces and good action. I thought the fight scenes were kind of weak. Not the fights themselves, just the way they were put together, they didn't seem to have the same gravity as some of the fights from previous movies.

I still think M:I3 is my favorite of the franchise.

Its pretty great. I just saw it again and I take back everything I said about Renner. He is actually really good. First time I saw it, I didn't really like him because he doesn't look he is having as much fun as the other 3 but I didn't realize that he really isn't suppose to be, he's suppose to be that fish outta water.

This movie was breathtaking! I loved every minute of it and I knew that Bird wouldn't disappoint... I haven't had that much fun in a movie since Rise of the Planet of the Apes! Saw it in IMAX and had a huge crowd, everyone seemed to enjoy it. MI:Ghost Protocol really was a fantastic way to end 2011, now bring on 2012!

9/10

I agree, this is without a doubt the best action film of the year not too mention it has the best gadgets of any spy movie ever.

At first I didn't like the wall mirror (what if the guard decided to stroll in their direction?) but it was a really fun scene.

That's fine. All you need to know is Ethan got married and worked with Simon Pegg's character previously ( who's now been promoted to the field).

Kinda.

Ethan gets little development here. If you don't know his character, it would be hard to...root for him.

He's not that great of a character, but he's definatly cool.

You should just watch some of 2, and all of 3.

2 is mostly worthless. The first hour is ok, Anthony Hopkins is cool, ... But man it just gets so over dramatic & lame after a certain point. It literally would've been better if they took Ben Stiller's idea in the parody & turned to the camera at the moment they're flying through the air at each other & said..."This Mission... Just got a hell of a lot more....IMPOSSIBLE!" haha. Somehow that would actually improve it.

The second one has some cool action. But this series tends to need a good plot to work. If this was it's own movie, it would've been awesome.

I do love the scene when Ethan "dies"...except it was all a ruse.

I'm 20 now, so I was probably 9 when it came out. That scene really bothered me.

Ethan's jaw broke....:csad:

And then got GUNNED DOWN..and I was all like

And then Ethan was all like "IM IN YO HENCHMEN, STEALIN YER VIRUSS"

And then I was all like. :awesome:

I saw MI:4 for a third time today and I was shocked to see TDKR trailer on it. What a surprise. I knew it was attached to Sherlock Holmes, but I didn't expect to see it on MI:4 as well.

Best in the series...i feel like they perfected all the best parts about previous films in the franchise and made an ultimate action flick. This thing was non-stop and suspenseful and fun!
MI4 9/10
MI3 8.5/10 (loved what Abrams did, the ending was a little underwhelming)
MI2 5/10 (Kung-fu Cruise...i hated this one except the action near the end kinda saved it for me)
MI1 7.5/10 (if only it weren't so dated, still love it though!)

I also think the third one was very good and entertaining. I don't remember much of it since I only saw it once when it came out in theaters, but I remember liking it.

MI3 got it on the right track, MI4 brought it where it needs to be.

Does anyone think Brad Bird would come back and do MI5

I think you nailed it.

Only went to see this in hopes of catching the dark knight rises prologue in IMAX. Of course my theater didn't show it. But I gotta say, I enjoyed the film. My buddies didn't really like it, but I found it quite enjoyable. The Dubai building scene and the final fight in the automated parking facility were my favorite parts. Unlike a lot of action movies these days, each fight scene was very easy to follow, the punches had some real weight to them, and the moves didn't feel like choreographed dance numbers. Brad Bird did a great job with them, I thought.

Brad Bird has the fluidity of fight scenes down like no other.

I'd be nice to not totally rely on only Bay for the spectacle. (I still like the man's work! :o)

The great thing about this movie is it wasn't just the action that was so great. The gadgets and mission ideas were so cool. The cloaking/viewpoint projector screen, the train car safe house, the blinking contacts/suitcase printer. They put a lot of thought into it, and it was all great.

I also loved all the little Brad Bird touches. Just the humor points during the movie, like Ethan getting caught while trying to escape or when the glove stops working and then sticks to the building again. Those little moments are just littered throughout the movie and you know Bird had something to do with them being there. Plus he even got his A113 reference in.
