moments in movies that made your jaw drop

God there are so many moments i can't remember all of them.
But i'll give it a shot

The matrix moments i'll never forget :
Áll the Bullet Time shots in The Matrix
The last part of the burly brawl where everything is CG
The attack of Zion with the fist of God reveal as the best scene
The Superbrawl

Other moments :
The first tripod reveal in WOTW
The whole 17 minute opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan
Sauron's first reveals himself in the begining of the FOTR proloque. That was really awesome.
The balrog in FOTR ( this along with sauron's scene in FOTR made me watch the movie 15 times)
The first time i saw the trailer for Two Towers at the end of FOTR

And yes : That fight between Borat and Azamat.........

Yeah... some of the WOTW's remake was pretty damn good... I loved the tense bits.

Definately. If there's one thing Spielberg can capture , it's realism.
I mean look at movies like Schindler's List , Saving Private Ryan , Jurassic Park and WOTW.

Mmhmm... he's the master.

the first time we meet seabiscuit

Rudy's firs tackle

the end of Shawshank

Another moment that made my jaw drop - watching the little girl get shot in the original "Assault on Precinct 13".

My jaw dropped when [blackout]just about every main character just died.[/blackout]

Collateral.

"Yo homie. That my briefcase?"

Pop pop, pop pop pop.

Less than 3 seconds.

Insane.

Did I mention the ear cutter scene in "Reservoir Dogs"?

Yeah, when I saw that for the first time, it was pretty damn shocking.

1. Batman Begins- When Batman descends down the stairwell through the bats and him landing on the ground. Beautiful moment and made me proud to be a Batman fan.

The Tumbler Chase Sequence along with his first appearance at the Docks and the ending with Gordon the rooftop made my jaw drop and made me smile.

2. Saw- When it's revealed Jigsaw was in the room with Adam and Dr. Gordon the entire time.

3. Oldboy- When he cuts off his own tongue. :wow: :wow:

4. Superman Returns-
Lex Luthor and his henchmen beating Superman on the new Krypton, which culminates with him stabbing Superman in the back with the Kryptonite knife.

5. Terminator- The T-800 Exo-Skeleton rises from the fire after Reese blew up the truck.

6. Amityville Horror(Original)-
The priest encountering the hordes of flies and being told to get out by the demonic voice.

7. Lord of the Rings Trilogy- Sauron's first appearance in FOTR, Balrog along with Gandalf's final stand, Helms Deep, Shelobs Lair, and so on and so forth. Best moment of the film was when Sam is holding Frodo on Mount Doom and he says, "Come on Mr. Frodo, I can't carry it for you. But I can carry you!"

8. Spider-Man- The final fight sequence with Green Goblin. Very brutal, gritty, and realistic.

9. Texas Chainsaw Massacre(Original)- Leatherface's first appearance as he takes out his first victim.

10. Starman- When he revives Jenny after she is shot in the face by the cops.

11. Philadelphia- The way Andrew is treated at the library.

12. Rocky- The training montage and Rocky vs. Apollo with Rocky going the distance.

13. Casino Royale-
The bathroom fight at the beginning. The torture scene, the chase at the beginning, James trying to save Vesper at the end, and the fight in the hallway which appeared to be so brutal, realistic, and painful as well.

14. X2- Nightcrawler's attack in the White House, Logan's rampage in the Mansion, Cyclops fighting the guards, Cyclops and Jean briefly battling it out, Pyro going nuts on the cops, Colossus metaling up during the Mansion Raid, Nightcrawler saving Rogue, and of course Jean dying at the end with Cyclops watching helplessly and breaking down in Logans arms.

Vertigo- The whole ending
Out of the Past- "Baby, I don't care" and the whole scene at the cabin
Double Indemnity- The whole murder sequence
Rebel Without A Cause- The explosive finale to the drag racing scene
Rear Window- The murderer looking directly into the camera

oooOOoOo very nice including the classics, especially ol' hitchcock

I remember I was pretty awe struck during Superman Returns when Superman first appears to save the plane. Gave me chills. :o

1 Magneto tearing off and moving
a section of the golden gate bridge. That was wow moment.

2 Sauron in the prolog sequence compared to the elf and human soldiers. Him swating them like flies was a great scene.

3 The Return Of Barbossa did not make my mouth drop but it braught as smile to my face. It was like yes i knew he was dead.

4 When Obi Wan first cut Darth Maul in half. Not the split part falling but the inital cutting him in half.

5 When Constantine went to hell by looking through the cats eyes. Totally wicked.

6 Moses Parting The Red Sea and later retracting it.

7 The scene how Voldemort return was a grinning moment. Just because you had been waiting for it since the first movie.

8 The sequence in The Mummy with Evi reading from the book of the dead. The effect of her mistake with the locasts and the waking of Imotep was great.

I just watch Crank on dvd and the public sex scene shocked me.

I mean it was definitely awesome to see a movie go that extreme because I do feel that the majority of the movies are holding back these days just to get a PG-13 rating but it was seriously just like a big budget porn scene...haha. :wow:

What the **** is WOTW?

EDIT: Nevermind, figured it out. War of the Worlds.

Sometimes I wish people would just take the extra few seconds to type out the whole title. I know, I'm a grumpy old man :(

I remember reading Statham saying when he read the script he was like 'How the hell are they going to be able to do that?'

1) The Matrix

The opening shots of the first Matrix film were amazing as nothing like it had really been done properly on the big screen. Slow-mo, bullet time and even the martial arts manoeuvres used were completely new - now they're almost the norm in films like this. Whilst I loved both of the sequels, neither of them had the 'wow' factor of seeing that for the first time.

2) Superman 1

Perhaps my jaw didn't drop, but the hairs on my neck certainly stood up. The part where Superman realises Lois has just died and flies up into the sky in a fit of rage was the first real expression of anger/denial that we had seen from Big Blue in the whole film. After being charmed by his bumbling Clark Kent and his smiling goody-goody Superman, Christopher Reeves was very convincing in showing a distraught Superman ... the expression on his face spoke volumes.

3) Butterfly Effect

The whole film did it for me. Each time he time-travels and realises the new consequences of his actions .......... particularly the last jump at the end. That gave me goosebumps.

4) Back To The Future

Everyone has seen this film so many times now that few of us remember the shock value at the ending of the first one ............. just when we thought the story was over and Marty had saved his family from a dismal life, the Doc suddenly appears in a hovering Delorean........ from the future!? wow!

Can't think of any more at the moment though I'm sure there's tons...

Gaz

If we're talking goosebumps moments...

X-Men 2

When they're in the White House at the end, as Xavier says something like 'we have lost people' and the camera cuts to Cyclops/Scott Summers and oh my god! The movement he gives his jaw gives me goosebumps every time! Amazing acting!

The last 10-15 minutes of Casino had a few shockers, specifically
Pesci's death.
