Moments of "breaking the fourth wall"

Just figured this deserved a pic. (so does all of these 4th wall moments though)

I loved that moment. That looking at the reader just made that hilarious.

Thats the reason I love Deadpool. He says so many inside jokes that you have to laugh. He references things he can't possibly know and everyone else thinks he's totally nuts.

all the "toby doe-eyed" comments he made to justify why spider-man was more popular than him despite his rep as a menace were brilliant. spider-man had just totally lost his sense of humour and was telling him he was mad and told him to shut-up etc. But it's so true...

yes, tobey maguire plays spider-man in the movie and deadpool said thats why SM was more popular than him in the comic. it was funny.

NO character is written as well breaking the 4th wall as Deadpool.

doesnt she-hulk use comics as legal documents *shudders at prospect* Sounds.. wrong

Yes, it is breaking the fourth wall, since only the reader is actually capable of seeing the all-caps speech.

True. I'm just saying, it could be written off as simply being a joke. But probably not. I'm lame. :(

What does Purple Man do and say to break the fourth wall?

That's hilarious! He must be the easiest character in the world to write! Why have I never bought Deadpool??

Hey guys, can you recommend some Deadpool books? I saw an image where he did a "shroyoken" while yelling it, what issue is that?

LOL, I can't tell but I love this moment Deadpool pulling a Street Fighter move on that smart-mouth Kitty Pryde ! Funny as Hell ! :D

Breaking the 4th wall, well, John Byrne did that a lot with She-Hulk but alos on FF when he was taken by Johnny Strom to testify before the Shi'ar or something.

There's also this cool moment in the Infinity Gauntlet serie when Thanos snuffs half the living creatures in the universe and there's 2 panels showing someone's pov holding the very same issue we're reading disappearing. :)

Not sure if this counts, but in issue 5 (I think) of Infinite Crisis, Alex Luthor is searching for earth prime - earth prime being of course our earth, i.e. the real world. He tries to reach into our world to combine it with another. It was a pretty neat panel, of Luthor's eyes and his hands reaching towards the reader.

The reason i'm not sure if it counts is because while reaching into our world, Luthor never acknowledges that he's reaching into our world - as far as he's concerned, this is just one more earth amount contless others.

I believe it was in the "Adventures of Superman" in which one issue had Mr. Mxypltk disscussing the actual issue and breaking out of the story to go talk to the creators of the book. It was weird.

I think that was just an artistic trick. Earth-Prime isn't our world, by the way, since there's no maniacal Superboy or any other for that matter.

But you could attribute a 4th wall break to Alex, albeit a minor one, when he first turns it on and says that he doesn't know why, but "Everything comes from Superman."

He is referring to E2 Superman, who first appeared in Action Comics #1, and would therefore be the beginning of the DCU and the Superhero age. It was a cool little thing.

earth prime is based on our world. its like a what if? there were no superheroes, then superboy showed up. so i guess earth prime is closer to like the movies and series where he's the only superhero

Greg Rucka is the ****ing MAN for writing that. Best representation of Mxy ever, IMO. :o

That sounds awesome.

I wanna know about the Purple Man.

Deadpool owns the fourth wall, he's constantly refering to actual story arcs or artists (Oh snap! Gil Kane reference!) and constantly mocking his low sales("The editor has told me your the only reader left"), and of course nobody in the MU actually pays attention to what the guy is saying, even when he's somehow watched the Spider-Man movies . He also has a recap at the begining of each issue where, the other characters can break fourth wall.

Rucka's Superman was, in my opinion, the best run on Superman I've ever read. The thing about John Byrne is that he's great at coming up with concepts and plots, but his writing overall is hit or miss (although his She-Hulk rocked). Rucka basically took Byrne's concepts, and, being a better writer, made them kick major ass. The only thing I didn't like was how he handled The Parasite. Replacing him instead of bringing him back when there was a perfect window of opourtunity to do so.

out of interest does cable rule rumekistan now?
and cables powers -- his virus is gone and so he has full use of his telekinesis right? just no telepathic powers? and he has technokesis or something right? so basically he can perfectly search the web or any network in his head? but he can't control machinery?

i've only read a few issues on and off of late so thought i'd ask. thanx!

Actually he was breaking the fourth wall as it wasnt Earth Prime but our reality he was looking into.

Back in the 70' Marvel talent regularly broke the 4th wall
Writers and artists were always making cameos
