Superman shows up in Brokeback Mountain.

In a scene at the supermarket, Heath Ledger arrives with his two little daughters for his wife to look after. There's a small rack of comic books where some issues of "Betty and Veronica" and "Superman" are visible. But there's an anachronism: this scene is supposed to take place in the 1960s, but the Superman mags feature the black-and-white DC bullet logo, which was not created until way later. Still, props to the art department.

Maximus' armor cuirass kept evolving, as his personal batles went on, somewhat reflecting the scene/situation he was in:

As first given to him by Proximo (has no horses or tree)

Then when he first meets Lucius and first faces Commodus it has added the two horses and tree (emblematic of his lost home) .

Then for his second meeting with Commodus (the Tigris battle) it has added the icons of his wife and son. (where Commodus brutally taunts him specifically about them)

Then for the third and final battle with Commodus, and his own death, it now has added an angel.

Pixar gets a lot of s*** about making sequels over originals but Inside Out 2 is the first sequel since 2019's Toy Story 4.
Since then they had Onward, Soul, Luca, Turning Red, Lightyear and Elemental.

There were more complaints about it about some years back when it was more common for them, which was at least valid since in the whole 2010s decade, they released a sequel every year except for 2012, 2014 and 2015 even though they were mostly well received. The bigger concern is that they're now pivoting towards making more sequels rather than original movies.

I think they are worried and they need to have more sure-hits after so many of their movies underperformed like, severely. Partially because of Covid and partially because things like Lightyear was such a misfire.

Inside Out 2 is hours away from becoming their highest grossing movie ever. So it's paying off.

Inside Out 3 is definitely happening and to be honest that makes sense as a viable franchise because there's actually potential there exploring new emotions, etc. I also know I'm not the only one who'd welcome an Incredibles 3. It's when we get to Toy Story that things start to get a little sloppy. Will Toy Story 5 make a lot of money? Absolutely, but it only further undoes how well Toy Story 3 initially wrapped up the story and the surviving cast isn't getting any younger either. Woody and Buzz sounding like old men is just a sad prospect.

This is more a happy coincidence that happened in my personal life:
Yesterday I watched for the first time The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. That also includes the deleted scene showing the flashback with the main character's mother, played by a young Jamie Lee Curtis.

The same evening I watched the much-talked about Season 2 Episode 6 Christmas episode of 'The Bear' which features--oh hey, look at that--the main character's mother, played by Jamie Lee Curtis.

speaking of Star Trek I just saw last starfighter and Marc Alaimo (gul dukat) and Wil Wheaton (wesley crusher) had small blink and you will miss them scenes in the movie.

I thought that Paul Reiner did as well, but now that I look it up, I was wrong.

Man I hated part 3. I felt betrayed by how hyper I was for that movie and then how let down I felt in the theater watching it.
