My nephew physically assaulted me.

I have not seen Man-Thing or you make any effort to be the leading Christian men around here. None. You can sit there and justify your behaviour by saying your are not perfect...but are you making any effort? I mean why is a Christian man going to SUE his cousin? Is that would Jesus would do if his cousin flipped out on him? Drop it into litigation?

There is nothing wrong with suing somebody who has failed you financially. Seeking redress through the courts is perfectly legit. If his cousin sincerely offered to pay Man-thing back, Man-thing would be free to drop the suit.

I don't know what the situation is and I don't need to know, but if Man-thing has done everything reasonable to get his cousin to pay him back and failed, suing his cousin to get re-dress is fair.

Forgiveness, from the Christian viewpoint can only be given if the other person has repented of his actions, otherwise there is nothing to forgive.

hey Stewie,

you made me feel bad, I'm asking you to delete that quote, but it's your choice.

You're just covering your ass for when Dew comes in here and wreaks havok on us

Bull*****. TURN THE OTHER CHEEK.

TURN THE OTHER CHEEK.

What else you got, Jonty?

"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you." (Matthew 5:38-42, NIV)

So how does a LAWSUIT fit into that scripture right there? Tell me?

and your just like me, instigating arguments.

That was a joke. Would it have helped you if I added a "GIT-R-DONE" to the end?

I wouldn't sue anyone, why are people saying I'm suing my cousin?

Notice the "us" part. I think that was meant to be lighthearted ;)

I was talking about Jonty pressing charges against his cousin for assult. I do not know why he brought you in.

Damnit! You responded before I editted in my super witty rip on your southern heritage

It's his nephew Stewie...his nephew (which makes it kinda worse I think)

I think you all should give it a rest, I mean you are all from the party that says we should all be tolerant right? Well, jonty did just that and what happens?

He gets ridiculed for it.

What Christ is saying and it's very clear from the words, if you read it, is basically go the extra mile, not fail to hold the person accountable for his actions. It's really about patience and grace when dealing with another person and his actions, not about forgiveness.

In Man-thing's case, an example of how this would apply would be a willingness to give the person a longer period to pay him back or to not expect payment for a month or two, if the person is in dire straits.

I have never voted Dem in my life, for the record. I am independent.

I thought that Stewie was referring to you, sorry.

Jonty wasn't tolerant at all. He has already called his nephew a waste of life bum (Lest Judge, lest thee be judged...I think that's the quote from the bible...if its wrong, what do you expect? I'm Catholic). Then he called the police, despite the fact that no harm was done to him (at least according to him). The police on his own family member. And keep in mind, Jonty is constantly lecturing the rest of us about family values.

I'm not pressing charges against my cousin.

I was talking about you dropping charges on your nephew. That is wrong. No christian should be suing their nephews over a silly assult case. I tend to think I am Christian... a very bad one... but I would never sue anyone. God takes care of those people seek to do others harm.

If communist means independent, then I guess so. :D

anyway, I'm sure you would agree that he done the right thing by not hitting him back, and I really wasn't addressing that to you, but to those that are saying he should've retaliated with physical force.

So calling the police on your nephew is patience and grace?

Lest ye judge is not about not judging, if you'd only read the scripture after it.

I was mistaken, I meant to say your nephew.

War Lord said:

War Lord said:
The fact that he's got the punching power of wet spaghetti is beside the point.

I asked him to help me move a freezer outside and he refused. As a result, I had to do it myself (it's a small freezer) and his indoor cat got outside because I had to keep the door open for the freezer. I told him his cat got outside and I went to my room.

He couldn't get the cat inside, so he came to my room and started physically assaulting me. I didn't hit him, just defended myself. I called the cops and I am planning to charge him with assault if the cops see warrant to do so.

Nobody should have to tolerate physical abuse, ever.

Jonty, I think you have seriously misunderstood the message of the Gospel, my friend.

If he called him a bum, that's one thing, it still doesn't give credince to his nephews actions. Jonty isn't perfect, and I'm sure you can agree it's easy for someone to result to name calling. ("Man-Thing is a tool")

I don't think you should take as what he says as lectures, unless you see him as an authority figure over you.
