Anita will post a more detailed review of todays panel with Wally Pfister, but some interesting things he said were:

no more quick edited fight sequences.
As Wally put it, Heath had "enough balls" to do this shot. During the Hospital explosion the joker is seen walking out of the hospital with a detonator in his hand. As he's walking away he presses the trigger a bunch of times, some small propane tanks can be seen blowing up, but the building does not explode. He seems confused and keeps pressing it over and over. until he gets on to the bus, then it explodes. All this is done in the nurse outfit and wig. shot on Imax in one take and Heath nails it.
Anita took notes so she will have more details soon.

Sweet. Awesome that Heath did that shot, especially such an important one that can't be filmed again.

Also Wally saw the (as of now) final Imax version of the film in the universal Imax theatre before the panel.

really this movie is shaping up to be the most amazing, just mind blowing movie ever! In 2 hours will be 25 Days away people! OMFG! and...if Heath doesnt win that Oscar...may God help the Academy.

SPOILER********

wouldnt he have more than 1 take if the explosion happens after hes on the bus.....????:brucebat:

its in the process of exploding. and then it fully explodes as soon as the bus door closes

Im glad he uses the bus more than once in the movie.
It sounds great! Heath never ceases to amaze me.

No, just the trailer.

Dammit, Ashkong, you had to make a new thread! :cmad:

Here's my more-detailed description. :oldrazz:

Right before the building goes down (in the film and in real life), Heath walks out of it in a nurse's outfit and wig, pushes a trigger button, and it beeps but nothing happens. He tries several more times, and small propane explosions occur behind him. It's not the building going down, they rigged separate small explosions.

Finally, he gets pissed off and goes into a school bus, and RIGHT as he closes the door, the demolition starts, and they got this all in one shot. Wally described how the camera tracked with Heath, etc etc, but I wasn't exactly paying attention as I was writing all of this down. But yeah, he said, "It wasn't JUST a first take for the building, it was a first take with Heath too!" They had to reinforce the glass in the bus and everything, to make sure Heath wouldn't get hurt. Wally also gushed about Heath's performance, and his ability to do this scene (expressions and all) in one take, cause there were no second chances.

i want to hear about the fighting. no fast edits huh?

^So you're the Anita this guy's talking so much about?

Sounds amazing.

I really am anticipating that whole hospital sequence, if only to see Mr J in the nurse's outfit :hoboj:
