New Mutants New Mutants News and Discussion - Part 2

The Shatterstar suit is clearly tongue-in-cheek and a brainchild of the filmmakers.

This "FOX narrative" will never end, will it? People need to understand that the studio (thankfully) does NOT work like Marvel Studios, where they have a suit and concept art ready even before there's even a director on board. They also need to understand that the current 20th Century FOX regime is way different than the one which was at the helm when the original X-Men films and the Wolverine spin-off were made.

It may be a different regime but a lot of the same mistakes are still being made:

1) Stuffing movies with mutant cameos, some of whom are classic A-list characters who should be developed better

2) Duplicate characters who have already appeared in another movie

3) Killing off characters just for comedy or just because reasons

These are things the MCU does not do. It's called respecting the source material. If someone doesn't know the material, then they shouldn't be making movies based on it.

At this point, WB and Fox are just doing whatever.

Thankfully Fox's sketchy history with the X-Men is coming to an end.

It appears to me that Ryan Reynolds and the writers know the comics very well (actually, as a fan, I can confirm that they do -- they nailed Deadpool and his world in a way in which even some comic book writers and so-called 'comic fans' struggle to do). And the X-Force joke worked perfectly: people were laughing their asses off, and it's a great scene.

It was a storytelling choice, and it upsetting you is a whole different story. Doesn't mean it was a mistake.

There are many things the MCU does not do (aside from pandering to their audience), which is often one of the reasons I tend to gravitate towards other comic book adaptations (even though the MCU does have its fair share of movies I really like/love, Avengers: Infinity War was actually pretty good, and I'm REALLY looking forward to Ant-Man and the Wasp).

Well, that was my two cents. Y'all can go back to hating FOX now. Have fun.

Ryan may know the comics pretty well, but apparently he forgot Colossus is a human looking mutant, that later turns metal when using his power. oops

maybe he'll read more X-Men comics next year

He won't have to, Feige can educate him on anything he needs or wants to know regarding the comics.

It'll be all over soon for the X-Men, and we can all sleep tight.

Going by whats happening recently you may be waiting abit longer for Disney to get X-Men as stuff with Comcast may push things back and thats only depending on if the result still goes in Disney favor.

cant wait for the day 90% of us get real hope and hype back. It will be a great time for most of us, no doubt about it. Just hope it doesnt take us 5 years.

You never even posted in the speculation based Marvel X-MEN Threads unless its to complain about FOX or Kinberg.

Any news on New Mutants? Charlie Heaton said that they were doing reshoots at either the end of the year or the beginning of next year. OTOH, Josh Boone posted on IG that he was hanging out with NM crew members, but he didn’t like any of the posts that asked him about New Mutants. Is it pretty much dead?

Sadly yes, it's pretty much dead. Everyone is still contractually obligated to finish whatever reshoots are deemed necessary. And yet most people involved know they're working on a project that will most likely not see release. The production is moving forward extremely slowly, with the feeling being that fox hopes to drag things out as long as they can, and pass the blame for the films demise from Boone, Kinberg & Fox on to Disney.

Well according to you some time ago Disney were the reason it probably wasn't gonna get released because they didn't want it to be released.

There were a wide variety of really bad problems before Disney got involved. Believe me, JB, SK, etc all knew what they had made was awful. Disney just put the movie out of it's misery. But Fox would like ALL of the blame for the fate of the movie to be on Disney, which is categorically false. JB & Fox killed this thing.

Can you give us a full breakdown of the plot and Easter eggs/cameos if you don't mind? We might not ever see this so...

Hollywood politics can be just as bad as actual politics at times.

Well it is complicated given the implications of everything thats going on.

I can only imagine Comcast don't stand a chance of getting Fox at all otherwise it just gets even more complex after FOX have played ball with Disney already. Which does go against alot of the buy out politics reported with getting this deal complete.

FOX and Disney/Marvel have been intimately involved with each other since 2009, with the FOX-Marvel relationship dating back to the 90s. The idea that these two studios were suddenly going to have an arms length relationship after being up in each other's business for decades never made sense to me.
