BvS new Zack Snyder quote implies WB forced Batman/Superman movie instead of MOS2???

Even if Nolan is just an exec Producer I think it would be borderline moronic of Goyer/Snyder if they didn't chat with Chris as well.

Nolan for storytelling, Snyder for general faithfulness, and Goyer for ideas.

Imagine if Nolan wasn't busy for TDKR and could devote his full time to perfecting Goyer's script. Just imagine

I dunno if Nolan is the way to go either. He's also guilty of bloated story in his movies.

Wow, you're TOTALLY missing the point. It's not about what's best for the story, it's about what's best for the studio. Even the animated series World's Finest arc flirted with the same love triangle.

Cliches? In summer blockbusters? You're right, there's just no room for them. Not at all.

:: cue completely unearned kiss scene in MOS ::

I could see Clark kissing Lois for just choosing to not publish his story. She has not only turned down another Pulitzer by not publishing his story, she has been taken prisoner by the FBI, sat through a military interrogation, willingly gone into danger so he would not be alone, saved him by using the key, been saved twice by him, and much more. The amazing thing is that they do not kiss in the desert before Zod's agents come to take Kal-el away. Come to think of it, I am under counting the number of times Lois's life was saved by Clark.

The producers and executive producers control the money, and with the budget for sure to exceed $200 million again, they are for sure going to chat with them, lots, at all the stages.

MOS wasn't bloated enough. It had no shortage of action, but many of its cast was underdeveloped, and the plot itself would be simplistic if not for the overcomplicated mechanics of the Codex.

What we need is an older, mature writer to give MOS2 a classical character-driven quality. I am sure there's one out there.

But then you would also need someone who could direct a character driven movie.

Go indie on MOS2. Ditch Snyder (but bring him back if the sequel is more plot-driven and OTT) and let a smart, independent director who handles warm, human interaction to direct it.

All this talk makes me wonder what Affleck could've done with MoS.

But honestly, with the direction WB seems to be going (pursuing a "DC" franchise moreso than a Superman franchise), Snyder is probably a good fit for it. Things are going to get more and more over the top and comic booky. That's the way I see it going now.

I'm curious to know what MOS might have looked like without Nolan's involvement.

I might have liked a more mythical looking Superman movie. God knows Zach has the vision for it.

I don't see this quote anywhere on Superman Homepage so I'm not buying it....

well that still doesn't mean anything....people just need to calm down

Well it's not really fair to compare MOS to the previous installments of all of those films mentioned above because they all had several films and years to build off of.

If we were to base the box office earnings from all of their "starter/origin" films, then MOS would have a better footing against them since Iron Man 1, which was the start of the MCU only made about 585 million dollars, while Pirates 1 only made about 654 million, which is a number I think MOS can still reach up to by the end of its run.

It is not fair. But this is business. And the business of it is that it did not live up to expectations, despite doing well for a new film.

And guess what? The last two Batman movies did a billion. So, why are we surprised he is in the next Superman movie?

Sad but true.

The Krypton stuff was pretty mythical to me. It all felt very Zack Snyder.

It takes a better movie than the one we got. I don't see why thinking that both Superman Returns and Man of Steel aren't very good movies is unreasonable.

You can think MOS isn't good all you want and its not unreasonable
but I disagree with it not being a good movie and I'll raise you most critics are less coherent and observant than most of this crowd. So many complaints are about things that are missing that a blind man could see are in there and I think done well.

I honestly think Superman is on such a pedestal that no movie would have cut the mustard. their might have been one better received but I personally would most likely have liked it less.

For me MOS is my favorite comic movie behind Avengers.

Snyder's Krypton was scientific. DONNER'S Krypton was mythical.

Donner's was more magic-based, Snyder's was sci-fi. I think both were mythological in their own way though. It was otherworldly and strange.

I mean, Jor-El riding a dragon-like creature. 'Nuff said.

Bats brings in the cash folks. Deal with it.

Honestly Snyder hasn't yet earned the right to dictate where a film series can and will go. That's a privilege reserved for only a few directors out there and he's for sure not one of them.

So overall this isn't surprising at all.

I think you get a much worse off film.

I don't get how MOS wasn't mythical enough.

I don't get how MOS wasn't mythical enough.

What I mean is that the story and it's components are grounded in some sense of earthly type plausibility. It was more sci-fi than fantasy.

And overall just the way the film looks, the way it was shot, it's visual elements... I didn't think any of it was very "magical".

Sounds like they brought in Batman just to push up the $$$, worrying IF true.

But then it was always going to happen at some point the two together.

This is going to be interesting to see how it develops.
