That's probably part of the reason Deadpool is on hold.

If they keep any continuity with Deadpool from Origins, the fans will kill them. That wont happen and no one will be bothered by it being left out. It will be on the same deal with how Emmas handled. No one will complain for getting it right or messing with the continuity of Origins only.

I think the producers and Reynolds have said, if/when Deadpool gets made it'll involve fourth wall breaking stuff, and they'll reference Origins and how terrible it was.

Yeah. They may be trying to tie him in more into this new shared universe Fox is creating, but other then being a joke they will keep Origins far from Deadpools solo film.

I guess they will recon It so that wasn't deadpool In Origins. That Is only way
to keep origins in countiuty with rest of films and have deadpool be part of
X-Men film series.

The leaked script has them mocking Origins so they could say that wasn't really deadpool and they can break the fourthwall to mock the fake deadpool.

Yeah that should work fine with him. Shares the feeling of the X fans as well haha.

I guess they could just retcon Origins as a whole, though I dont think they would admit to it.

My anticipation for this film just left me, even with the new picture.

I'd rather it be a start of a new timeline, like DC are using Superman to start there universe.
The Wolverine can be the start of the new modern timeline that might link upto the retro X-films.

That was never going to happen.Hugh Jackman Is not playing wolverine In new timeline.
Days of future past has already been said to connect first class and earlier X films.

Noone has been claiming the Wolverine would be start of new timeline

I doubt they will keep continuity with the other Deadpool, even though we have exactly the same actor set to play the 'correct' version.

But they are probably aiming to slot it into the timeline, especially as it included Colossus (and Xavier?) in the script.

Yeah they mention Xavier, I forget if its worded in a way that hes still alive though. Its another joke, which I think works for Deappool regardless if its past or current tense. Colossos shouldnt add problems. Always thought putting Domino in that role as the one monitoring Deadpools activity would make more sense, but its a pretty funny interaction.

Picture looks great.

I'm already 100% sure Aronofsky's draft was completely retooled & Jackman's "85% the same" comments were misleading, but I'm still happy with the notion of a post-X3 flick.

This isn't at all what I wanted, but its something I'll be watching opening night, July 25th.

The continuity is already shot to hell. Hopefully they just ignore it for the most part. They're gonna do a "soft" reboot via time travel (similar to Star Trek I would guess) in Days of Future Past, so a retcon is coming regardless.

And yeah wouldnt it be great if X-3 just ceased to exist somehow? oh well.

Im not a twelve year old, so I dont stress out over continuity "errors" and changes in actors or mis-en-scene from one film to the next. And I certainly wouldnt waste mental energy trying to rationalize inconsistencies between x-movies. pointless. maybe they'll do a better job going forward, for those who obsess over such things.

Personally ill be satisfied - surprised actually - if the Wolverine is simply a good movie. Deeply skeptical at this point, despite Jackman's veininess and the quality director.

X3's not going anywhere.

Its Origins that has now ceased to exist.

well apparently not as he has bone claws in one of the pictures released, which the general public will see as a link to origins

even if its a flashback, or a nightmare of wolverines its still there and if they were trying to ignore origins surely they would make sure there is no link or confusion

Maybe the director wants to link origins to a sequel to X3?

i think possibly the director thinks he is linking origins to a sequel to X3?

The bone claws are from the comic first and foremost.

The scene in the picture could fit into Gavin Hood's opening montage at some point, but not the rest of the film.

In Hood's film, Wolverine goes to Japan after losing his memory in the 70s. In this film, Wolverine goes to Japan after X3.

Add to that the fact that Wolverine was sitting in a bar out of uniform in the early 60s during First Class.

They're clearly ignoring Origins. Aronofsky said they were doing that back when he was directing.

The Wolverine being post X3 has been getting more and more likely the latest months, really didn't expect that a year ago. Now that it's confirmed I feel, well quite content with it. I don't think it will hinder the story or make it lose any impact (if done well), it's a story that could be set anywhere in time really.

While I'm not huge on X3, I rather The Wolverine be closer connected to that, than the disaster that is Origins. I guess it seems more and more like Origins is pretty much non-canon from here on out. At least now the post-credit Japan scene doesn't really mean anything at all.

The most interesting thing is what this will mean for the more cohesive and shared universe that Fox/Millar is building. And how this will tie in to DOFP.

I find it very intriguing to say the least.

Has it been said they are trying too create a shared universe? i didn't think FOX cared about continuity and were basicly like if it works stick with it and if it doesn't ignore it

I think that's why they brought in Millar, to make things more cohesive and better planned.

Its weird because in some ways I've always wanted it the other way around hehe... however I can understand why Origins would be erased continuity-wise with the whole Xavier and Deadpool thing.

I liked Origins more than X3...but maybe I am in the minority on that one.

Yep.

The Fox-verse will combine The X-Men, The Fantastic Four & Wolverine.

Vaughn will still by producing and In all likelyhood Singer will be stepping In to direct.

It's a possibility, I dunno if you could say "in all likelyhood" though
But the date is approaching quickly, so I wouldn't be surprised by a Jackson/Deltoro type switcheroo

Exactly, and its for the better.

Singer's at his best when directing an X-Men film.

I like what I read about The Wolverine taking place after the X-films. Just feels right to me
