Apocalypse Nightcrawler in the Apocalypse Movie

^ Many of the people have been saying for a long time how DoFP "erased" all of the X1-Last Stand and Origins movies, and to a degree, they are correct, but to a different degree, they are wrong.

Yes, none of the stories we saw in X1, X2, last Stand and Origins will now happen in this new timeline, but there are still many different things that stand, even if the story doesn't happen.

A very important piece of this is the ages of characters we have seen. Other than some stupid things, like the Cyclops and the "Emma" we saw in Origins (can we just totally forget that one movie?), the ages of characters matter.

Neither Wolverine nor Xavier will forget about the events of that "one movie'. They're the only one who will remember the original timeline.

Super Jim said:
Someone above mentioned that because we will now have a young Nightcrawler with the X-Men it proves that everything is totally erased, but my counter argument is the fact that they are having a late teen-aged Nightcrawler proves that the ages of characters we've seen, even in stories that are now erased, matter.

In X2 Nightcrawler was what, maybe mid 30's? And that movie was in what year... 2004?

We also know that (assuming the parentage of Kurt) that Mystique gave birth to him in 1963 or 1964 (since Azazel - the likely and per canon father (and again, if they make Kurt's dad Erik or Beast I'm flipping out!) was killed in 1963).

That would make Kurt 19 years old or so in 1986, which would make him around mid to late 30'd during X2. This (somewhat - at least mostly, which is good for these X-movies) matches up.

If Nightcrawler was born in 1963, then he would be 20 years old in Apocalypse and 41 in X2.

I suppose the question is does Nightcrawlers age matter to much when mystique doesn't age normally and being his mother maybe he would age similar?

I hope he's actually mystique and azazels son. They laid tge ground work for it. Might as well capitalize.

From that quote I gather he means that it's Fantastic Four solely as in no X-Men stuff involved in the story, but Easter eggs aren't tied to the plot so I don't take that to mean subtle references or sneaky stuff couldn't be in the background.

Youre right we'll have to see

He's asked directly about Easter eggs, not story or plot elements, and says "this is primarily a fantastic four story", so it's highly doubtful there are any nods.

I get what you mean. I think it's just people interpreting "threw everything out" differently. I think most of us still prefer that the universe be the same (however, diverging now). For example, Rogue or Warren can't suddenly be born earlier to be the same age as the rest of the X-peeps (especially since Rogue was shown at the end of DOFP). But I know some are thinking that, yes, they can do stuff like that now. I think in general most of us (including you and me) are on the same page. :)

:yay:

2. Do a Cable Origins movie that would include his parents, played of course by Famke and James. This one, to me, makes so much sense:

OMG, I want this now! The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix, followed by X-Force with Cable and Deadpool on the team.

Neither Wolverine nor Xavier will forget

I know this is separate from Apocalypse, but that's the reason I think the Wolverine movie will be interesting if Patrick Stewart is in it. How isolated would you feel as Wolverine if everything you knew no longer happened as you remember it? Your history is altered, and there is only one man (Xavier) who can truly understand. What a great story opportunity!

For me, Patrick Stewart would just bring more familiarity to the film, it would feel more X-Men-ish and not just a solo Wolverine film. His cameo in the first two Wolverine films are quite memorable!

I really hope hes sending Wolverine to a field mission or maybe its the catching up session that was teased in Dofp.

It's likely to be catching up on logans past which he doesn't remember with xavier filling in a certain gap in his past since he is one of the only other people to be aware of the time travel thing

It's gonna be similar to the wolverine I think with 40 years of no memory there will be something being revealed that he doesn't remember

That way it will be a personal story

I'm a little surprised they want to get Nightcrawler in the movie.

Another movie with a teleporter (all of them have one!), another version of a character we've seen already.

But they must have a plan to make use of Nightcrawler. Hopefully narrative and not just FX.

I would imagine he's going to be a core member of the team moving forward, into a new trilogy most likely.

Like I've explained earlier, it seems obvious that it's going to be all about the parentage of the main characters.

Mystique being Kurt's mother almost has to make it's way into this story, and the reason for Kurt's existense (meaning because Erik left her) will likely be part of the resolution between Raven and Erik. I'm imagining that we'll find out that they were lovers, and that when he left and didn't come back she felt that he abandoned her. That likely led to her either turning to another (hopefully Azazel) or enabled Azazel to either force himself on her, or trick her into laying with him. Thus Kurt was born, and gives reason for why she abandoned him with (hopefully) Margali at the circus (she went looking for Erik and couldn't bring baby Kurt along).

This is also a chance to give us the Kurt that most of us want, which is the curcus performing, brash, fun-lovng, outgoing, sword weilding, flirt! In other words, the fun Nightcrawler!

I don't know whether I believe they would even explain why she had a thing with azazel because as your ideas make it sound it could be in very bad taste and kinda soap opera-ish for this movie to either say he raped her or that she was hurt she lost eric and slept with azazel as a rebound, also adding the fact she was clearly upset seeing a picture of azazel and angels dead bodies in trasks files and just about beat magneto up just so she could kill trask for it

I doubt the explanation will even be explained that far, it may be hinted that he is the father but it won't go as far as her explaining it to magneto like she cheated on him or that it's anything of his business

I always took that stuff in DOFP with mystique and magneto as if she was attracted to eric as seen in FC and something maybe did happen but that's as far as it went, they didn't become an item or anything

And Mystique had a romantic thing with hank also which I believe was also part of a scene cut from DOFP that was with the rogue stuff, aswell as all her attempt with wolverine In the OT if you wanna count that in too so anything that happened with her and azazel doesn't need Eric's approval really or even be said its his fault

There are plenty of subtle ways of treating the mystique and nightcrawler situation that don't have to require her to scream it to the world, it could be as small as a push on her conscience to see her son grown up, xavier is aware that he is her son but she refuses to talk about it even though deep down it may be effecting her

I feel like its a wasted opportunity if they don't maje it it clear mystique and azazel are his parents.

It actually would be a good time to show a flash back with maybe a cameo from azazel which may also help to explain why she was going after trask in the first place, may help make sense of it but I personally don't think they will, like DOFP it will probably be treated as stuff happened in the past at some point and that's all you need to know

They have been ignoring many characters relations in the movies since the beginning of the franchise. I could see them easily ignore Mystique and Azazel being Kurt's parents.

^ Sure, they can ignore that, but it's such a great story opportunity it would be a shame to forget about it.

My guess is we'll get into the whole Quicksilver and Erik stuff a little. At least Quicksilver will learn who his daddy is.

And then we also have (per canon) this Mystique is Nightcrawler's mom. Maybe they won't get into Azazel that much, but if not, again, what a shame. As far as Beast, they barely had a relationship. They kissed, like one time, and then she left and quite possibly broke Hank's heart. There really isn't any "relationship" for the two of them to resolve, but Erik and Mystique and Charles and Mystique both do have relationships that need to be resolved.

And then we also have Moira in this movie. Why? There's really no reason, unless again, they are going to go with the canoical story of Charles and Moira being the parents of Proteus (or they could go with Legion). Again, really no reason to have her in this otherwise.

So, you catching the theme of this movie (if I'm right?)?

If there is a mothers and fathers theme It will probably be subtle in what it's used for, and If they do something like that with charles it will likely be taking on a more father like role for the x-men otherwise there would be no point them being involved or get any development at all

Nightcrawler is one of my favorite characters, so I am psyched. Singer excels at casting these characters, so I'm optimistic about McPhee. Im just happy that Apocalypse will have my three favorite X-Men: Cyclops, Beast and Nightcrawler. This is gonna rock!

As someone said earlier, there is so much that Singer can touch on. I hope this movie is at least 3 hours. Lol.

Why does everyone feel that every superhero movie needs to be at least 3 hours long? Seriously... every board I go on. It's so arbitrary.
