I haven't seen anything from Boyega that convinces me he's right for Stewart. I haven't seen Moonlight, but I've seen a few clips and Trevante Rhodes may be a strong choice
Lol, Rhodes would be amazing. Sadly, this is what the Hype has done to me. As I was watching the third act of Moonlight, in between holding back tears, I was thinking, "Damn this guy would make a great John Stewart."
In addition to any military stuff I would also like them to focus on his different worldview when compared to Hal's. It'd be an interesting clash of personalities.
It's an amazing piece of writing, not to mention a sad state of affairs, that this scene would still work if you swap John for Simon Baz and Senator Clutcher with any of an alarming number of current politicians.
Just current? They never stopped being that way. This scene is interesting. Especially Hal trying to patronize John for being "irresponsible" when nowadays John is the one who would call Hal out on doing things without thinking them through.
I think that's very cool, not that I like him calling anyone 'whitey'. Degrades him a bit.
Gotta understand the situation, having the moral high ground - but I'd prefer him to be above that now.
Yep. If Green Lantern Corp flops then the actor playing John Stewart won't having anything to worry about because his face was blurred out of the movie and his name wasn't in the credits.
I got Neal Adams to sign my John Stewart Retro Figure at Comic Con. I hope that I can add a 1/6 Hot Toys John Stewart movie figure to my collection in the next few years. Come on, WB, don't let me down!
Thanks. I have my whole GL collection in the "Show Off Your Inner Fanboy/girl" thread in the community section.
One reason, among many, that I'm desperate for at least one GL Corps film is non-Hal Jordan Green Lantern merch. Don't get me wrong, Hal is a huge favorite of mine, but he and Sinestro are the only two characters from the Lantern mythos that have gotten their just representation in figures and statues. John, Kyle, Guy, and Alan have woefully sparse checklists of merch.
