What Disney doesn't lack are franchises with potential, it's a shame they don't do more with Gargoyles, but considering the time they waited to green light the sequel to a Billion grosser such as Alice in Wonderland, i'm not very surprised.

I could go on and on. The truth is 80's cartoons and kids TV aren't as good. What was there really besides a handful of Hasbro cartoons and TMNT?

To be honest, 80s cartoons were actualy some of the worst,not all of them, but in general, modern kids cartoons are far superior, 90s was when they started to realy get better, and some of the best were during that times, even The Simpsons, which was created in the end of the 80s, had its best run during the 90s. Only animes were more badass during the 80s, actualy featuring good animation and some of the coolest intros

Yeah, but on the whole i think nowadays there are more good cartoons than in the 80s, even among some of the trash. The 2000s actualy brought a good portion of quality shows, many of them have even been forgotten, like Dave and the Barbarian and Brandy & Mr.Whiskers.

Conan definitely deserves a good treatment by someone who actualy read the novels, Robert E. Howard was a smart man, it's a shame the films based on his work seem to imply the oposite, though i did the like the first Conan the Barbarian film.

The 80's typically had better blockaders than the 90's and arguably music as well. But in terms of Kids TV and movies the 90's dwarf the 80's. Primetime TV is a toss up though.

Gargoyles for sure. I'm surprised Disney hasn't dived head first into making it to be honest.

As I understand it, they're refusing to do anything with the Gargoyles property out of spite. I heard this second hand, so I don't know how accurate it is, but the way I heard it, Disney and the creator of Gargoyles had a falling out after Season 2 of the series.

After Disney execs ruined the show in Season 3, the creator washed his hands of the series. However, Disney is contractually obligated to give Gargoyles' creator a large percentage of any profits made off of the property. Because of this, they don't want to give him the satisfaction of being paid for any future Gargoyles projects, and he refuses to sell his share of the property to Disney, who are the ones who screwed up the series in the first place.

At least, that's what I heard.

Gotta agree here and I'm just not saying that as a 90's kid. The 90's introduced much better storytelling in their kids shows, especially with the Marvel and DC cartoons however the 2010's brought on the senseless cancellation of Young Justice among others as well as Jeph Loeb taking over Marvel television thus cancelling Avengers: EMH and giving us Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assemble.

Now getting back on topic, as Wheels brought up 90's Cartoon Network Cartoons, I'm now suddenly curious at the idea of a live action Johnny Bravo movie done with a 21 Jump Street tone, and I'd totally get Channing Tatum for Bravo!:

Well, Sixth Sence was aparently heavily inspired by an episode of that show.

Yeah, I heard that too. But I'd kinda like to see a movie about The Midnight Society sitting around a campfire, taking turns telling ghost stories, trying to out do each other. And include some of the classic characters from the show, like the magic shop owner Sardoe (no Mister, accent on the "doe"), and Professor Vink (with a Veh-Veh-Veh). I think that could be very fun.

However, if you're referring to a live action adaptation of the animated series from the 1990's (Conan The Adventurer), then that could make for a very fun movie.

A live action Sailor Moon movie could be fun. I would age her up a bit (14 years old is a little young to be seen as a sex symbol). I'd also make her less whiney, less stupid, and maybe give some reason as to why a blonde haired, blue eyed girl is living in Japan (maybe she's an exchange student, or her dad has a job in a computer software company, something like that).

X-Files had already been done. I'm not too sure about the others.

When has X-Files been rebooted?

I rewatched the Conan the Adventurer cartoon in 2007. It didn't age as badly as Power Rangers or Ninja Turtles, nor as well as Exo Squad and Sailor Moon. I liked the cartoon and the cast of supporting characters they built for Conan. They also had a good narrative format. Conan had many friends, but for each episode he typically only had 1 friend with him, which allowed for more story and fewer action scenes.

I'm fanwanking on sailor moon right now because the cartoon is being re-made. She's one of a dozen or so female heroines I'd be more interested in seeing on the big screen than Wonder Woman. There's no storytelling block, it's just a professional block. Hollywood has not figured out how to do female leads well though it's starting to with Malificent, Hunger Games, Twilight, etc. It's also never had a successful adaptation of a Japanese anime, Dragon Ball Z, The Last Airbender, all are failures. So it will likely never happen. Things might have changed if James Cameron had made Battle Angel Alita, because that would have been good, made money, and then people would have copied it.

Last Airbender was an American Cartoon, not a Japanese Anime. Speed Racer wasn't so bad to be honest.

Dragon Ball Evolution was a travesty, the Dragon Ball franchise has a lot of potential, i hope that the next time they give it a better treatment than what they've done so far.

Yes, but Last Airbender is clearly made in the style of Asian cartoons, it's clearly heavily inspired by them. Adapting Last Airbender would require similar technical and creative skills to adapting an anime, and they failed.

It was a financial failure, yes, but i don't think the show still has the following and extreme fandom stuff like Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon atract, it's also a harder sell in concept, since those other two have a more expansive world and a powers system for different fight scenes.

I would say that Anime/ Manga as a whole may actualy be easier to adapt than American cartoons, as they don't as much of an episodic narrative, but a whole storyline.

Rurouni Kenshin actualy did a decent job, but it had the usual problem that Japanese films adapting animes and mangas usualy have, in that they stick too close to the source material, even in the comedy and cheesiness that works well in animation, but very off in live action. It's not that difficult to acomplish, but studios are right now more interested in adapting American comics.

Edge of Tomorrow has gotten a very positive reception, the source material is a Light novel, and those are usualy in the same spirit as anime/ manga, so there's that.
