Now that Hollywood is seemingly targeting the 90's, what do/don't you want to see?

A Darkwing Duck film could be great (but only if still with Jim Cummings), able to be similar-enough to the series while also spoofing newer superhero films and their styles and what makes them particularly popular.

You can't really do a Darkwing Duck movie unless its animated and Disney isn't going to do that these days.

Just gimme a DBZ film, please.

I think you are better off sticking with the anime versions and the Dragon Ball Super movie. I don't think Dragon Ball translates into live action very well.

Nah man, I think it can work really well. I wouldn't try to modernize it either. Keep the late 80s early 90s aesthetic in tact. Do a film for each of the main sagas. Have the Saiyan Saga be one film, the Frieza Saga be a second film, etc.

There's a moment watching the anime where Vegeta realizes he has to hurry and get to Namek so he can get the Dragon Balls before Frieza, and he jumps into this space pod. In that moment all I could imagine was how dope a 90s space opera with these characters could be.

And cast my Asian brehs as they deserve more love on the big screen.

Carmen Sandiego's roots are in the 1980s ;)
Man I thought they were done with the 80's, GIJoe, Transformers and the crash and burn of Jem and Ghostbusters, so what's left? Thought RP1 was the last hurrah!?
Oh damn He-Man and She-Ra, Night Rider, Highlander? this never ends.
Where is the -What's left for Hollywood to target from the 80's thread?
A least they've finally laid off the 70's, right?

I support the Garygoyles cinematic reboot idea. I don't think Disney would ever go along with it though.

It's kind of weird how everyone's accepted that as the probably case, considering how quickly 90's nostalgia might be coming down the pipeline and the good word of mouth the series still has.

Plus, you could basically write the teaser right now:

Open on a slow pan over a cityscape, with a narrator (Eliza or Goliath) talking about how young America is in it's legends and myths. Start panning up a skyscraper, and have the narrate mentions how there's always stories about something sealed away until the day it's needed. Suddenly have the skyscraper become a castle above th clouds, and cue the start of the theme. Narrator begins to recite the classic intro monologue and we come to the Gargoyles as stones, with the sun setting. End on the sun disappearing, Goliath's eyes opening, and cue the full theme.

It was mentioned a few pages back there might be a legal/royalties issues with getting Gargoyles on the screen. The only other reason Disney haven't done it yet is they might have no confidence in their own live action film division. Like, what was their last genuine hit that wasn't Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar or Disney Animation?

Oh my gosh they should do the magic school bus! A proper live action one I mean not a cartoon

I'm in general agreement there. I guess there's always a chance some huge Gargoyles fan could become President of Production at Disney and get a movie pitch from someone.

I mean do the live-action adaptations of their previous animated hits count? Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, etc?

While you may be right, I think a Dragon Ball movie with tone (and look) in-between classic adventure Star Wars movies and Thor Ragnarok can work (in fact, tone wise Ragnarok reminded me a lot of DB, with it's bizarre blend of comedy, visuals and action).

Live action Gargoyles is too risky for Disney. Making a live action Aladdin and Lion King is a lot less risky. Its safe and its easy money.

My hope is sooner or later they will run out of the popular live action remakes to adapt. Maybe only then will they try to adapt Gargoyles.

I would argue no as they are essentially just remaking their own library of films. The first Pirates movie might very well be the last time Disney brought a new property to the screen. They’ve had a bunch of high profiled failures when it comes to the live action division. No wonder they bought Marvel and Lucasfilm.

Well technically not a new property since it was based on a Disney parks attraction ;) . But I guess it's sort of close to that.

But yeah that's pretty accurate. Buying Marvel and Lucasfilm lets them sort of corner that demographic which they could never really nail down themselves. Tron 2.0 underperformed. And then look at John Carter and Lone Ranger.

Besides Freakazoid and Garfield, the other 1990s thing I'd want to get a big Hollywood reboot is Exo-Squad :D

Doesn't have to be a movie either. It can be an animated TV reboot ala Legendary Defender for Voltron.

You know what would be a fun one? Zoombinis. Remember them?

Oh my God I would KILL to have an Exo-Squad film... in the right hands of course and not some jerk like Michael Bay. Actors... oh man I don't even know where to start...

I know it's an easy and all too predictable choice to throw out there but I might as well say it before someone else does - Idris Elba for Avery Butler.

One choice for a character not listed above, and I know this one's also kinda predictable - Liam Neeson as the space pirate Jonas Simbacca.

I know they'd probably never get him but - Harrison Ford as James Admiral Winfield.

For Maggie Weston... Anne Hathaway or Rebecca Ferguson.

For J.T. Marsh... Henry Cavil, yeah, another one that would never happen.

If they could get series voice actors Gary Chalk and Richard Newman to reprise the roles of Marsala and Phaeton that would be 9 kinds of awesome. And get Scott McNeil back in there to to voice some random Neosapien henchmen, because McNeil's too epic not to have on board.
I'd love to see Exo-Squad make a comeback, one of the few decent 90's cartoon before anime started to take over.

Some cast suggested here, a while back.
They aren't getting any younger.

It should be a 3d animated movie. Also, centurions.

I'd definitely like that, but I'm just not sure a studio would be willing to pay for a theatrical movie. Most CG theatrical features are sort of broader family films rather than action movies aimed at tween demo.

Thomas Jane instead of Jeremy Renner as Bronsky ;)

if it was like 10-15 years ago, it would've been Ron Perlman.

IMO a Boyd Holbrook type as Alec Deleon. Depends on how you want to approach that character and how young you want to go.

Voltron live action movie.

Street Fighter II live action movie that rivals the original animated movie.

RoboTech live action movie.
