It's a fundamental transformation of warfare equivalent to the discovery of gunpowder, and it's only a few years later. That sort of change never resonates immediately.Why don't you think Americans know what drones are?
A few years from now the US military will undergo massive cutbacks in troop size, that will have unbelievably large repercussions on the public consciousness.
People in parts of the rest of the world (middle east, africa) might know better if they have been attacked by drones. Meanwhile, Europe, Russia, Latin America, East Asia often have a more rigorous media when it comes to foreign reporting.
Finally, Americans are renowned for their limited awareness of international affairs.
