Apocalypse Official Apocalypse Blu-Ray/DVD thread

I really like the scene between Xavier, and Mystique since he acknowledges what Wolverine told him in DOFP.

Singer doesn't want the audience to get bored so he tries to keep the story moving which means some things have to go.

And yet the pacing still wasn't right, a lot of people have mentioned that the set-up/build-up was far too long.

I wish they would include on the Blu-ray the original cut before the edits were done, as well as the theatrical cut. Then there wouldn't be all these calls for an extended edition and the director wouldn't have to go back into the studio and play around with the movie all over again.

A Jaunty ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Deleted Scene Proves The Movie Could Have Been Much More Entertaining

Again, while I liked Apocalypse, the general consensus is mixed, which I get. But judging from the reactions to these deleted scenes, people would have appreciated the film more with moments like these or a better tone.

I dont think CBMs have to be "fun" or "kitschy" like the average MCU film. But there should definitely be smaller, lighter moments, especially in serious superhero fare, that reminds the audience what these characters are putting their lives on the line for.

That line of thinking I can agree with. The Safety Dance Mall scene is a fine example of it.

Yes, it would have livened up the movie considerably and given it a less ponderous, portentous tone.

Singer says it is mostly pacing or film was too long.let's remmeber apocalypse was 2 hours and 23 minutes long from logo to post credit scene.

Well he made a huge mistake not including that brief Storm/Xavier moment. It would have added a little something to a character that definitely needed it. That Xavier/Mystique scene should have made the cut as well.

I don't disagree the storm/xavier scene and xavier/mystique scene should have been in film as well as cyclops/beast scene at end but i take unpopular decsion he wasn't wrong to delete the mall sequenze.

I agree. I think the Storm/ Xavier and Mystique/ Xavier scenes were nice, brief developments. The mall scene, while fun & a nice nod to the 80's, would have been too much with Quicksilver's Sweet Dreams sequence.

Seriously, Stryker is too young to be in his 50. they didnt want to make him some grey hair for more realism

I like Raven/Xavier deleted scene, he mentions Storm Scott Jean (future adults x-men in 2000's) but no Kurt. Beast is senior and Wolverine must be recruited in several decades

I agree with all of the above. I would even go as far as saying that I don't think the mall sequence is all that good.

Does anybody know what the song is that is played in the deleted mall scene?

Nah. It's a cute little montage and I like the scene overall (despite full-on hating the Return of the Jedi exchange). But it was wisely cut.

i will defend singer on his cut.to me the star wars exchange was really an in joke commenting on original X-Men trilogy.

Oh, it's a meta comment too because it absolutely applies to Apocalypse as well.:o

The deleted scenes are OKAY not great.

1. I'm glad they cut the Mystique/Professor X dialogue. It repeated lines from DOFP and thats just lazy. I'm still cringing that they are forcing Mystique to be this important figure to the X-Men. Then the scene with Cyclops/Beast, eh. I can understand why it was cut, it was just not written very well. So they were just rebuilding the mansion and Beast already came up with a new glasses for Cyclops. Eh. These two scenes being cut was a good decision.

2. The mall scenes are meh. I kinda like Jubilee's small power of display but not really that exciting. They really made Nightcrawler really dumb and clueless so I don't really like what they did to him. Nightcrawler isn't dumb in the comics for one thing. And these scenes had nothing to do with the rest of the films. Cyclops got bored and decided to invite the other 3 to the mall? Seriously?

3. They should have kept Jubilee's interaction with Nightcrawler at the mansion. Then Moira's scene with Stryker. I guess Havok's scene with Cyclops too though it isn't really good but still, those scenes are a little extra which IMO would have improved the pacing of the film.

They should have never cut those scenes and kept the movie 3 hours long. Maybe if they did that the movie would have got better RT and people wouldn't have complained that much.

Most of the deleted scenes were fundamental to the movie, specially Storm and Xavier talking and Moira arresting Stryker.

They should have left in parts of the mall sequence. Maybe not the whole thing, but enough to make it less choppy like the theatrical release. The mall hallway scene with Jubilee pulling nightcrawler's tail, the arcade scene, and then the food court scene since they discuss seeing a movie.
They could have left in a bit more of the classroom dialogue with Xavier... It actually showed him teaching, and Jubilee stuff to say.
They didn't need to cut out the five seconds of Jubilee telling Beast a lady was waiting for him at the front door... Before Scott met Jean. It makes more sense being included, since without it, Jubilee never would have met Scott prior to saying 'this is Scott, he's new here too...' To Kurt.
Also, the extended dialogue with Jubilee and Kurt flows much better than in the theatrical version. It's all way too choppy and makes people wonder who the girl is in the yellow jacket.

Actually that's the only thing that they should have cut. The lady is supposed to be Mystique and Jubilee telling Beast that there was a lady at the door wouldn't work with the scene where Beast inside the Mansion meets Mystique who apparently let herself in. Notice how Beast was walking around in the mansion and just out of the nothing sees Mystique there. So, keeping Jubilee telling him that there is a lady on the front door wouldn't work with this scene.

the only scene they should have definitely left in is the Storm/Xavier conversation. This would have made the horsemen's motivation so much less absurd...

I disagree.

They should have left many more scenes.

Storm/Xavier conversation is one of them but they should left the Mall Scene, Moira arresting Stryke, Xavier telling Mystique that he needs her, and mentioning the Storm, Scott and Jean name cause it was clearly a reference to DOFP when Logan tells him to pay attention to those names. Magneto saying to Mystique that it's over. The complete fight between Beast and Mystique. Jean and Scott meeting extended. So many good things they kept out. Scott and Havok having more screen time together like brothers. Jesus, the editing for this movie was terrible, I'm thinking that the editing ruined the movie.

Such a shame for poor Lana Condor, she really put her all into this role and was excitedly promoting the movie... only for most of it to be cut.

surely we deserve X-Men: Apocalypse - The Jubilation Edition ?
