I am guessing they aren't going to use any of the snapped folks for the press tours? ( a good decision in my mind).

3 weeks guys...3 ...freaking...weeks

I'm gonna go see Shazam today as an appetizer (BTW myfriends believe the hype it's great, don't be petty marvel or DC dudes support quality), but man I'm so stoked.

I hear ya'! The partisanship over Marvel and DC is enough to drive me crazy some days. I don't enjoy as many DC things as Marvel, but when DC does a good job, I usually go see it! I would be watching Shazam this weekend, but my kids genuinely don't care about the character...and taking a kid to a movie they actively do NOT want to see is an exercise in futility!

Have fun!

I'm sure the snapped actors will be at the LA premiere but I doubt any of them do press. (Which is kind of a shame because so many of my favorites to listen to in interviews were snapped)

Recent efforts? Quite the contrary, their work has been very consistent. Thor: The Dark World is an isolated blip.

As I said, they deserve credit for their work on TWS/CW/IW, but that doesn't mean that they can't be criticised for their past mistakes.

Also, how do you know the weak parts with that film are their contributions?

How do you know that the weak parts (which is basically everything except the Loki scenes btw) weren't written by them?

As you stated, Chris Yost was also a screenwriter on the film.

Yes, and he deserves an equal share of the blame for that movie's bad writing. Difference is, it isn't Yost that's being lionized here.

And Whedon did uncredited re-writes as well.

According to Alan Taylor, Whedon re-wrote a grand total of two scenes, one of which was the argument between Thor and Loki on Svartalfheim, which was arguably the best scene in the entire movie:

The thing he was brought in to help with was not a comedy scene, it was an emotional scene between Thor and Jane. I think he also did a pass with one of my favorite scenes, Thor and Loki talking in the Asgardian skiff at night when the brothers actually have time together to talk. That was one of my favorite scenes and I think he had a pass on that.

What Loki Scenes Were Added to 'Thor: The Dark World' and What Did Joss Whedon Rewrite? – /Film

Blaming Whedon for TDW's mediocrity is really unfair IMO. He was literally parachuted in to fix some scenes that weren't working on short notice.

You are putting way too much emphasis on one film, when they had strong contributions both before and after. They also gave us Agent Carter and the only good Michael Bay movie of the last 20 years, Pain & Gain.

I'm not saying that one misfire invalidates an artist's entire body of work; simply that we should remember people's failures just as much as their successes.

So was I the only unfortunate soul who basically had part of the ending ruined the other night by the most inconsiderate punk of a poster?

I noticed the post was removed. Just hope the poster was banned too. Still pretty irate about it - especially given the lengths I went to keep this movie fresh for me.

He was probably full of s***
I would just ignore the info and assume its wrong
So few people have any info about this movie, I doubt some random newbie knew the ending

How do you know that he told you the actual ending as opposed to just making something up?

I blame:

1. Alan Taylor
2. Old MCU committee that has been disbanded prior to Civil Wars release.

Supposedly what we ended up in TDW was a huge salvage job compared to what was initially done.

Taylor was definitely the biggest villain in Thor: Thor Dark World. The guy showed his true colours with Terminator Genisys.

However, that doesn't mean that Markus and Mcfeely can't be criticised for their role in contributing to the movie's mediocrity.

I also don't see how Perlmutter or the other execs at Marvel can be seen as the main cause of TDW's sub-par quality, either. At the end of the day, this same "committee" didn't ruin Avengers, Winter Soldier or GOTG.

Some people on here just can't tolerate any criticism of their beloved authority figures.

Yeah sure I'll put them in #3
but I just don't know enough about their original script to know if it was bad. Great scripts get turned into garbage tier movies all the time.

Mods removed the post. Supposedly they were at a pre-screening.
