Now.... my question is that IF this JGL rumor is true, how can we be for sure about when this was filmed? How do we even know he is back in LA? Because he said so via twitter? Has he been seen at any events within the area, any JGL sightings in Cali at all since he tweeted? Cause until I had visable proof he is where he says he is, I go under the opinion that he may have done that just to mess with people... cause a star has NEVER lied to keep something quiet for a movie so that it is kept a surprise. Eckhart was locally thought by those following them around Chicago during TDK, to have left the city completely when a scene was being filmed at a local bar as a figure engulfed in a cloak exited the makeup trailer and hauled himself into the bar to film the scene where Two face kills his first victim

If the earthquake rumor is true, then, given all we know so far, one can understand both Wally's befuddlement as to how they were going to shoot this movie, and his amazement at the epic conclusion Nolan had come up with.

I have a massive problem with this earthquake idea... It's like the plot of Die Hard 2... The whole plan is predicated on their ability to somehow cause a snowstorm... Just like if they went with the earthquake it would be like all Bane's plans to take on the batman come down to the luck of there being an earthquake...

the earthquake rumor is very similar to what happens in BB at the end. if you add this on top of Talia then TDKR sounds to much like BB.

The earthquake theory is pretty solid:

1) comic precedent
2) supported by sewer thug costumes (why else would they be there if not to run a device like that?)
3) shot from the teaser that appears to be Batman and Bane in the sewer
4) shot of crumbling city in teaser and poster
5) title of film: Dark Knight Rises. Sky/earth dichotomy.
6) necessity of Batwing
7) Batmobile coming out of hole in the ground.

Guys...why do we all forget with what kind of director we are dealing with?
You guys realize that in 2005 Nolan successfully embedded the rumor that The Intimidation Game was supposed to be the title of Batman Begins.
Plus check out these teasers and trailers...

What does this teaser tell you? That it's about dreams? Everything we are seeing is because Nolan allows it...You guys must know that Nolan is smart enough to let a rumor flourish among actor-stan ins or extras...He knows that we are following this production every step of the way...he knew that in Batman Begins and in The Dark Knight...yes the JGL maybe true...but why? Let's not forget India...and that green screen pit...Liam Neeson apparently being sighted...Syberian prison camp...Anne Hathaway walking down the stars with Bale during a rainy day...a massive fight with SWATS, Mercenaries, Bane and Batman during a snowy weather condition...3 Tumblers...Prisoners with AK 47 4 Actors with unconfirmed roles...we seriously know nothing...even if that stadium shows a massive hole...we know nothing about the story how it will end...but I assure fellow Hypers this movie will go at with a bang...

Plausible though given what they did in Begins.
It could just be tons of subterranean explosives but they've got something pretty nasty.

Some possible relevant things that happen in the Cataclysm story arc:

Catwoman was stealing night-vision binoculars for an up-coming job when the department store was destroyed by the earthquake. After having a young girl die in her arms, she began getting the survivors to safety.[7] Later, she started tracking Poison Ivy and stopped her from spreading super-fertilizer into Gotham City's water supply.[8]

Robin (Tim Drake) performed CPR on Lady Shiva as Dava attacked Dorrance and his men. Shiva was revived by the drug still in Robin's system. Dava was shot in the melee and Shiva went berserk on Dorrance's people. Robin got Dava to her people and left her there. Tim's flight home was diverted to Blüdhaven. On the news, he saw Gotham City on fire.[9] He stole a motorcycle and headed toward his home.

The quake and the ensuing tidal waves hit Blackgate Prison hard. The island and many cells were flooded, and prisoners were set free. A land-bridge formed from the island all the way to mainland Gotham City. Batman, just surfacing in Gotham Harbor, realized what was going on and made his way to the prison. He quieted the rioting prisoners, though many had been killed and others escaped via the land-bridge. The aftershocks removed the land-bridge as S.W.A.T. helicopters arrived.[10] Batman reached the mainland and began helping victims. Later, he spoke with Penguin about his "enterprises."[11]

At Arkham Asylum, many inmates were freed into the public areas of the facility when the quake hit. Joker, Killer Croc, Scarecrow, Riddler, and others took three guards hostage and killed two of them. They decided to tell stories to the third man, a new guard going to school to become a psychiatrist. They scared him into dementia before Arkham's generator kicked in and they were rounded up.[12]

EDIT: There are clear parallels to all the things we know so far.

A) The earthquake happens out of the blue at the start of the movie and it kicks off the whole chain of event (but lack of any damaged buildings pretty much kill that)

or

B) They do their own spin on Tesla's earthquake generator and have a device that uses resonance to mess stuff up
