Cable/Deadpool #44 will arrive in stores on August 22 from Marvel Comics. The issue is written by Fabian Nicieza, with art by Reilly Brown and a cover by Skottie Young.

Here's how Marvel describes the book:

"'Deadpool and Wolverine,' part 2 of 2. One of them would like to pierce Hydra's newest sector commander with three adamantium claws. One of them would prefer to woo and soothe that commander with friendship and silicon chips."

Cable/Deadpool #44 will be 32 pages and will cost $2.99.

Deadpool's head....so funny. :p

I really wonder if his brain rotting from oxygon deprivation would really cause any trouble. I mean, come on, he already got his brains blown out more than once. I think that's worse.

is anyone else digging the covers of c&dp lately?

the one with gambit, issue 42 i think is like one of my faves ever

I don't normally like cartoony things, but yeah, these covers I do like. :D

CABLE & DEADPOOL #47
Written by FABIAN NICIEZA
Penciled by RON LIM
Cover by SKOTTIE YOUNG

Could DEADPOOL's recent actions be responsible for unleashing the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth on Earth?
Can the Crimson Bands of Cytorrak keep DEADPOOL's mouth shut? Will BOB, Agent of Hydra, sprout flame on his head and become the new Dread Dormammu? Shall DR. STRANGE truly suffer through an entire issue dragging our reluctant heroes through mystic realms? The answers are Yes, No, Maybe, Most Likely, but not necessarily in that order. And in a stunning escalation to our simmering sub-plot, CABLE is still dead!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$2.99

Sounds like great fun

Oh, and Skottie Young's covers have grown on me. They're awesome.

So, thoughts on the last ish? It's getting more and more fun, IMO. Especially loved Bob even being able to fool the other Hydra agents.

What's your avvy from?

Bob's cool
'Marital Status: regrettably, yes'

I think I actually have a problem with the colourists and the inker, to be honest. I was looking back at Reilly Brown's pencils, and they aren't too bad. I just feel the inkers aren't doing the pencillers justice.

The entire plot centered around the spelling of a word was genius.

Poor Deadpool and his drain bamage. :(

Nicieza is seriously bringing this book back up to the same quality it was at before it fell into a rut - which I'd say is around the start of the Civil War tie-ins and through most of the 30s. Mid-ish 20s to near the end of the 30s, give or take the occasional issue here or there, were basically running on the fumes of the ignition that had propelled the book up into the 20s.

Ron Lim's pencils easily trump Brown's. I'd really like to see Lim doing regular work on this book. His Wolverine was great looking, the action breakdowns were similarly great, and better or best yet, his Deadpool looked, I think, closest to Zircher's since Zircher. I've liked Staz Johnson's work on the book, too, but Brown really falls below those three mentioned names. Of course, if Zircher came back, it'd be a godsend. Or even bring Mark Brooks back on the title. He did issues 1-6, right?

Well written, though, and quite hilarious. It's nice that Nicieza knew when to stop the bouncing head before he wore it thin. And yes, Bob tricking his fellow HYDRA men was funny. But, I think, what was best was this issue ending the little requiem for Cable that started last issue. It was nice to see Cyclops's thoughts/reactions about his son, and it was nice to see Wade's closure.

I think what'll definitely throw this book back up in terms of quality is Nicieza keeping his characters in the lessened "random humor" that happens (and less is better, as too much makes the book start reading like a freakin' Ben Stiller or Will Ferrell crapfest) while getting them into some bigger, bigger, bigger thing - something equivalent to either of the first two arcs, though "Burnt Offering" would easily be my vote. And I think something like that could be done with just Wade.

I'd pay good money to see Zircher or Brooks back on this book. Especially Brooks, love his rendition of Wade.

skottie young's covers on c&d have been sooo pretty, worth buying the book for them alone :p

Heh, yeah, they're the only time I can say I like his work.

not that I ever thought he was, but can you clarify?
I think it was Joe Q. Been awhile since I read the comicon news story, but some fan asked, I think, about what characters we could look for big things from in the (near?) future, and Joey's answer was merely "Cable."

I suppose it could've been said as a joke, but one of the editors gave him a nasty look, as if he'd just spoiled something. And it'd be really stupid if the guys at the Marvel booth all collaborated together before the meeting just so they could throw red herrings.

Well, that and Carey said that we'd hear from the line Gambit said to Cable again, too, which is a kinda-hint that Cable's coming back. Unless he means to say that Gambit's going to say it to everyone until someone figures it out.

Yeah, it was Joe Quesada who slipped up at WWC and said, "Cable is on the rise", which got dirty looks from the other panelists.

Carey's sent mixed messages out. Some fans said he's told them Cable is absolutely dead and not coming back, and others say he's told them that Cable will have a major role in Messiah Complex.

So a lot of mixed messages in terms of Cable.

Well, even if it can be argued that not all of Quesada's ideas are sound (from the fans' perspectives, of course), I'm pretty much willing to place my bets that when he says something he knows what he's talking about, especially in a case like this. And especially given the dirty looks.

So, I'm guessing C&D will be no more soon? Cable is returning way too fast for my liking.
