Official Contest of Marvels II Discussion Thread

Whoa... wait! In the thread it says Patriarch is mine. I even debated him and everything. So is he Harlekin's?! Crap.... I just started liking him and everything. Was the thread the mistake, or this part?

What?

****!!!

I thought I edited it. The change must not have gone through.

Well, I think Harl said he was going to move Moonstone to the next round. And since it was a random drawing, we could always say you got Patriarch. Then Harl would have someone to debate against. If he was cool with it.

Hey guys, hope everyone that celebrated Easter had a good one, and everyone that doesn't had a good weekend. I got a very painful, but somewhat funny story for all of you.

I really got Zokened on Easter. We were cooking a pot roast and the timer went off to take it out of the oven. As I took it out, the disposable tin I was cooking it in tore and all of the 250+ degree water/juice poured onto me. I started screaming curses and pulled off my pants to get the juice off my skin. My dad and great aunt came in to the scene of me bare ass in the kitchen cursing left and right while at the sink throwing cold water on my crotch. I'm pretty sure she thinks I'm possessed.

I ended up getting 2nd degree burns all over my left leg and...my "special place" wich is just as painful and nasty looking as it sounds. Thankfully it is starting to feel better and there is no real lasting damage, just some scars and blisters that will go away in a week.

Needless to say, Easter sucked, but I am at the point where I can tell the story and kind of laugh at the situation.

I would say I feel your pain, but I hope I never do. :(\

And sue the company!

I too have spilt boiling water on my special place :csad:

You're never quite the same again :ninja:

I was actually not sure which one I wanted to advance, but let JH have the character, and I'll get a debate up sometime soon.

So, I think I'm going to just stop working and let Ahura Mazda and his big traveling job support me for the rest of my life. I'll even give him one of my kids, or my wife or something in return. I think that's fair. Anyone else want to jump on the "Ahura supports me" bandwagon? We can form a club and pay royalties to Ahura (who gives us the royalties to begin with). Anyone?

I see thanks for the potential exchange. Well, you could send a picture of your wife and we could talk ;) :o but I doubt I could afford it. I am sure your wife is invaluable to you and somehow I am not so sure she would be amiable to the prospect ;)

I am sorry to hear it. Hope you get better soon and you get no scars.

Wow, ky, I feel for you man. No man should ever get burns there.

Owwww, Ky. Damn!

I realized my post to Hippy's post never got posted. Anyway, basically what I said is this:

I'm enjoying Marvel more than ever. Even though I didn't like the ending of Civil War with Cap giving up and everyone stopped fighting, I find the way most Marvel comics are linked together to be something I've been waiting years and years for. I think some characterizations are dead-on, like with Tony Stark. (Although, some don't strike me as true, like with Reed Richards.) Plus, we have a great Silent War going on AND have World War Hulk coming real soon. (I can't imagine stopping now, with World War Hulk coming.) On top of that, it seems like the aftermath of Decimation will start to heat up in the X-Men books.

I remember getting out of comics when Peter asked Mary Jane to marry him. Now, I wish I didn't, and getting those comics are proving to be real difficult. I'm thinking with the way comic buying is currently going, these Marvel and DC issues will be just as hard to get. (Look at the price of these current issues on various sites. I noticed the other day on Milehigh, the last Batman Annual is $25.00! And, you can't even get these issues. Plus, just thinking how hard it is to find a first print of Cap. #25.) It's funny that it's cheaper to buy back issues of comics in the 70's and 80's for me than current issues from 2000 to today.

I can see what you're saying but i'm really not the kind of person that's interested in complete runs. It's nice to have it broken but I'd rather just buy the books I like and have gaps than spend money on books I can't stand. But that's just me, I can see why you would choose the completest route but it's just not my cup of tea. Also, as I said, NOT getting out of comics.

Think of it like this. You're spider-man/iron-man/ms marvel type books are currently basically forming one big storyline at the moment. Now I take your point that this can be very effective in terms of grander story telling and scope, but equally the old phrase "all your eggs in one basket" applies as well. If you like the concept of the initiative et al then right now you're probably in hog heaven.

I however don't, so there's really very little for me in those books.

Finally, i'm not saying marvel should change direction, hell with the numbers they're pulling in at the moment it's obvious that somebody likes it, and those people deserve to read these books. All I'm saying is that for the forseeable future, I'm done with mainstream marvel.

maybe...planet hulk was awesome.

Though if I do it'll strictly be the mini, I'm not bothering with the tie-ins after the pisstake that was civil war

Might even just trade wait it

oh and just to be clear

still buying

x-factor
runaways
nova
annihilation conquest (maybe)
the boys
any sam noir books that come out
Thor
Some minis (AOD vs Marvel Zombies for example :D)

I'm going to finish out my run on asm as I want to see how JMS finishes up

I think the only tie-in you need is the Hulk comic itself but WWH is going to be fun.

Also, could someone please tell me the location for this week.

When does voting end again? I'm having a bit of a motivational problem right now.

When does voting end again? I'm having a bit of a motivational problem right now.

I think voting is going to start on Friday and end Sunday.

Although we may have a problem with that as it sounds like the forum will be down again this weekend as they index the remaining threads.

If this happens, I say we keep debates open until the site goes down. When they come up next Monday (assuming they'll be down for the whole weekend), we go back to our normal schedule of voting.

I'll post the location in the threads. I meant to and forgot.

Thanks and what is the rule this week - is the area emptied of people like all the last battles or is it populated?

I mentioned the location in a post earlier in this thread. Since we haven't had an occupied area for quite a while, this one will have civilians all around in the normal places.

I was having voting last for another 24 hours; but, with the site going to be down, figure everyone has probably a good 24 hours, but the site might go down on Friday some time. When it gets back up, we'll post voting may begin and have it go for about 36 hours.

That is just great, the one week I am facing Selene it is a populated area :(

And when i have my characters like empath the area is unpopulated...

Thank God I cancelled my poker tonight because with this kind of luck it would not look good.

Guess I better get something resembling a debate up tonight then.
