I hope I did these right.
Wasn't last week the last week of round 2? Or am I just losing my mind?
If everyone doesn't like it, we can do away with populated areas. I've just seen that having populated areas are sometimes liked. (Plus, some characters are at more of a disadvantage when it isn't populated; so, they do get a bit of a chance this way.) Plus, to me, good guys always have an advantage by having a much better win/loss record than bad guys.
I'm in favour of populated areas now and then. Keeps you on your toes.
It is the luck of the draw at the end of the day. I personally felt like I lost my match largely because this was a populated area this week, whereas I lost Empath because the area was unpopulated. However, luck or random chance mean there are unknown quantities which play a factor and sometimes do not favor the outcome we would like.

I definately see where it is an advantage for villains populated area, but it's not impossible to defend against either. I mean the simplest defense is that a HUGE amount of battles in teh comics take place in cities and whatnot, and the heroes still win even with the innocent people around. If they can do it in the comics, then they can do it here too.Luck of the draw is being flame ******ant and going against The Human Torch, going against The Swamp Thing on Coruscant, or being immune to telepathy and going against somebody who's only power is telepathy. Those are case by case things and don't spread past that immediate match. Having a populated area effects the matches in a bigger way, it benefits half the competitors over the other half.
I always thought that the balance between hero and villain was 'track record' vs. 'use of deadly force'.
