Well, for the 4th day in a row, it's pouring rain in WA state. Borat didn't come to a theater in our town, and there were three movies my friend and I were waiting to see that weren't around here. So, we got in the car at 9:00 pm last night, drove to Tacoma (1 hour away)...then, saw that our showing was sold out. (Damn, I should have used Fandango!) Well, we just saw one of the other movies we wanted to see, Running With Scissors. Anyway, after having dinner after the movie, I didn't get home until past 2 AM.

Dang, I still haven't seen Borat.

Hey Powder. If you go to page 11 in this thread, you will see the brackets with who owns the characters and the first batch of locations.

Why, you want AS's characters? I'd be cool with it if the others are.

Ok, I quickly noticed that we have at least three matches where a participant has two of their own characters fighting each other...including you, JH.

So, you don't have to worry about debating. You'll get to pick the winner.

(On a good note, Annoying Silence is guaranteed a win finally. He has two characters fighting each other.)

I looked it up. There are four matches next week where a participant has their own characters fighting each other: JH, Darthphere, Trigger, and AnnoyingSilence.

Harlekin finally gets a break. He only has two matches. (Of course, unless all of his matches this week end up in a tie.)

I would LOVE to be back but I don't want to commit to something without being sure I can participate...I couldn't even half-ass it....

Well, I will say this. Even if you half-assed it, it would still be more than we are getting out of those characters now. If you happen to start and then decide it's too much for you, just let me know. I wouldn't be at all mad if you had to quit the competition. I'd rather give these guys a chance than let them just get defeated every week. They are just sitting around waiting for someone to save them, anyway.

If you want to do this on a trial basis, go ahead and jump in. You only would have two matches this week. The one in Thread 1 will be a slaughter; your Aurora is facing Adam Warlock. That would be a match you'd have to really debate to the exteme to win. But, your other match in Thread 4, Fixer vs. your Firebird, could go either way.

Right now, you are at a disadvantage. Annoying Silence didn't have the best roster. But, he's only had one match before this, at a record of 0-1. His roster looks like this:

Let powder play man! We've got enough people in this competition that are a bit slow in getting their arguments in and it's still running fine. If you can't debate your character then you can't really expect him to stand as good a chance as other's who have debated but the point is even if he only gets half his debates up it' still going to be more interesting than endless matches with no debate.

Yes I know the characters get split after the second round under the rules as they stand but would it not be better to have more people in the game than simply bulk up people's lists with characters they probably didn't even want.

Way I see it, worst case scenario we're slightly better of with someone to speak for these characters. Best case scenario it makes the game a lot more fun as there is yet another voice amid the throng. Let's bring the guy in and see how it goes. If he puts in one debate then he's done better than AS.

And to powder, if you're worrying about people getting pissed there are several people who've been late coming up with debates and what have you but if you've got a good reason then there's n problem. Ultimately given what you said we are all going into this with the knowledge that you're not going to firing on all cylinders but I still hold to the old maxim. The more the merrier!

Cool, it certainly wouldn't be my first choice in characters but there's a half a dozen decent characters there. I am assuming he didn't provide a list....A lot of Alpha Flight, which can work to my advantage.....alright I will try my best to get a few debates, but I don't think I can invest a lot of time for underdogs and pull out some upsets like last year....although that Adam Warlock match is tempting.....BTW Firebird's Bio leads to Fixer's....

Just a crazy idea to make things more competitive. Since POWdER's taking over for AS, what if we give him a chance to debate the matches that AS missed the last two weeks? If the owner's of AS's opponents are cool with it, and Powder has the time, then we'd have participation for every match and no real free rides.

I've no problem with someone joining mid-season but to redo the matches seems a little unfair. For the simple reason that the people who debated against AS have basically laid their strategies out and also info can be garnered based on why people voted. I'm all for letting powder join up but this i'm not so sure on...
