No, we were just gunning for each other and he managed to get more votes up than I could. Sad thing is that there was one vote that I could have had, but the guy didn't get online in time to vote that would have tied it up. And then another guy wanted to vote with me but didn't think I had enough votes up and didn't want to stick out, so he voted with Brodie to blend in. If those two would have voted right, I'd still be in right now :( It was the first time in the game that I didn't have control :(
That's annoying. :csad: Those two wasters cost you the title. One lazy, one scared.

I just realised one of my characters that wasn't even that high up my list could take out the hulk with a single word.

Ahura...Watch your back :cwink: :woot:

Hmmm I have to go check your list...a word you say

Edit: If you are thinking that Nico Minoru uses the staff of one to eliminate the Hulk I think you may be surprised. it has backfired on her before.

I can remember someone said that they'd put all this into Excel a while back. I'm not sure who it was :O but please could you send me a copy. (I'll PM my details).

Current results are posted. We have quite a few blow-outs, as expected in the first round...but, we also have some pretty close matches. Currently, we have two ties and three matches with only two votes difference between them.

Hey, I have a few questions regarding the matches that I was hoping could be cleared up:

1. When facing someone, do the characters just get the name of their opponent, or do they get name and a picture?

2. As far as knowing your opponent, do all characters know who/what happened in other character's first round matches. I mean, if my foe in teh second round usually couldn't get info on my character, could they get the info from their first round fight, or is it still a clean slate?

3. How long is it between rounds for the characters? I mean if a character is , let's say, poisoned in round one, could thos eside effects possibly still be prevalent in round two? Also, if I had a character that absorbed other's powers (and might be able to keep them for a limited time) in a round, could they use them in the next round, or is this possibly a clean slate too?

Thanks alot for answering these random questions!

1. I always assumed they get an image to go along with the name (since some names belong to more than one person).

3. (skipping ahead) Things you get in the first round do not continue into the scond. So if Rogue absorbs someone's power in round one, she doesn't get to use them in round two.

2. not sure if I understand the question.

In my opinion, the answer to number 2 has to be no if the answer to number 3 is no. Nothing carries over and therefore neither can the knowledge of a previous battle.

Of course, I am not a decision maker so maybe I should just step back and let one decide

I'll get my votes up after work today (around 7:30 Ohio time). I was going to do a quick run through and voting today, but I didn't feel that was fair. So I'll do them later. I have to leave for work now. Bye Bye!

Thanks. Like Ahura said, if it's a clean slate for 3, I would assume it is for 2 as well.

Just to clarify what I meant though, Let's say Tusk won his first-round match by creating copies of himself. If his next round opponent normally wouldn't be able to get info on him, could they know this since he used it in the first round (and maybe they watched). Basically, can characters scout their opponents? (like I said, I would assume it is a "no")

Listen, you all can stop sendin' me reminders to debate and vote. I warned you at th' start of this thing I was gonna be busy, so I get to them when I can. Don't worry, my pornographic memory won't let me forget.

You're right, it's no. All matches are self-contained. The other characters can't be spectators.

One thing that was used last season was the idea that our characters know they're in a tournament and they remember their last matches (or that they at least had matches, but might not remember specifics). I don't really like the idea because it limits the actions of some heroes if they don't believe they have to go all out in every match to survive (yet still stay within character, of course).

In reply to one of the questions, there is only one time where a character will know what happened in a previous battle: If there is a rematch. So, if Prodigy and Donald Pierce end up in a tie and their match happens again the following week, they would both remember each other's previous battle. In this way, the match isn't a repeat of the what's happened before, and the debators will have to factor it in to their rematch.

Yes, you get a name AND a picture. So, with a character like Bloodstorm, her opponent might recognize Storm and make the connection. (But, the picture wouldn't show her fangs, making it known she's a vampire. Really. She doesn't look like someone who'd smile for the camera. Ummmm....of course, would you even be able to take her picture, since vampires can't have their image taken?)

And, starting in the next round, everything is back to normal for your character.

The next battles are posted tomorrow or on Friday?

For most of you, they get posted on Friday, early morning. But, I start them after Survivor on the West Coast.

Remember, it takes me awhile to get everything together, and if you see the first matches get posted, there is a second batch coming about an hour after those. (It takes me a while to go through all the pictures I have in my photobucket from last season to find the right one for each character. Then, I have to find a decent bio for each character.)

Here are the participants who have matches on Friday:

Harlekin, Wiegeabo = 4
Iceman/Psylocke, Zoken, Ahura Mazda, JewishHobbit, Trigger = 3
Midnight Ice, Phaedrus45, Hippy Fascist, DarkHellRider = 2
Darthphere = 1
AnnoyingSilence, Wolverine25th, Kytrigger, Hellstormer = 0

I have a character coming up on Friday that I don't know much of anything about. If anyone can find a decent site, I'd appreciate it.

Ultimus - belonged to the Star Force, he's a Kree Eternal. It says he now goes by the name Demon Druid (although, there is another character in the Marvel Universe that went by that name, too.) I think he might be in one of the old Marvel Handbooks; so, I'll check it out when I get home.

Iceman/psylocke and trigger, just to let you know I won't be able to debate any of my matches this week till saturday: 2pm(us)/8pm(uk) This is because I won't have access to a computer (or at least to a decent internet connection :o ) until then. Just thought I'd let you know so you don't think I've forgotten.

I/P you're gonna get your ass handed to you this week :oldrazz:

just out of interest, since we said we are using most the most current versions of characters (except for some mutants: m-day) does this mean deathloc is the michael collins version currently in beyond?

:woot: The excuses have started already.

What's our match?

Judging by my performance so far I could be in the running for the worst average prize (to organisers: what is the prize by the way?) so any normal sane unretarded person capable of stringing a sentence together should have a strong chance against me. I know that doesn't help you but errr, no, there's no 'but'. :)
