I just checked how many I have after reading your post and unless I'm reading my bracket wrong (which is very possible) I have like 6 matches or somethign this week. And I don't think any are against myself. I'm gonna be a busy bee, but the bright side is just think of how much higher my winning percentage will go when I get another 6 wins :oldrazz: .

well I can tell you right now that that ain't gonna happen since unuscione's gonna get her ass handed to her :p

Oh, we'll see about that...maybe..I actually have a few tough matches. Wiccan, Silver Samurai vs. Power Princess, and (my favorite) Vertigo vs. Kurse. I might have to get sesperate for that last one, but luckily desperate is my middle name.

(I can't believe I just wrote that)

I'll look into posting who has how many matches next week tomorrow when (or if) I get to work. (Those of you who watched Seattle beat the Green Bay Packers saw that we're getting a bit of snow out here this week.)

I have only two matches, and they are going to be much easier than this week. As Kytrigger mentioned, my Power Princess faces his Silver Samurai. I got my one Exiles character, and looking at her bio, she seems pretty damn good.

I think I already have about 8 long boxes of duplicates. A lot came from the collection I bought. Selling them off is cool; but, I thought we need thread for trading comics. The only problem that I can think of is determining value and condition of comics.

For example, I have a bunch of duplicates of Defenders and Marvel Two-In-One....just, some of them aren't in the best of condition. All are readable, but getting these old issues on ebay have resulted in many not-so-good conditions.
8 long boxes of duplicates only

Wow you must have a lot of comics. I was only talking 50 or so doubles altogether.

I'm not too concerned about the condition when it comes to vintage comics as I want to be able to read them multiple times without worrying. Also the poor condition adds in a way to the old school feel. MY UXM 13 looks like its been in the wars.

Well, I was going to pop on and open voting, but I see some last minute debates went up. So, debating is extended for another 5-6 hours for a chance for rebuttals.

Thought I'd let you guys know about an ad I heard on Sirius radio today. If you go to www.wowio.com, you can download selected books and comics for free, and it's perfectly legal. The comics are not from any major company; but, I saw they have some that might be interesting. For that company, I think they're pretty smart. I've been getting Starship Troopers, myself; but, it gives me a chance to see if I'd like any of their other comics.

EDIT: I noticed that signing up might be a problem. I was going to download the Buckaroo Banzai preview, but noticed you have to be a US resident and they want proof of ID. If you have a college email addy, it's simple...but, for someone like me, they want a credit card, and I don't want to give them that just to download a comic that I might not even like.

Heh , I've had problems backfilling my Uncanny X-Men collection so I've often bought large runs which overlapped with issues I already owned. I have three copies of some of the supposedly harder to find issues. I've previously (also when leathered) bought duplicates from a comic shop within the same purchase! I had no excuses as the covers weren't different versions or anything. The store attendant even doublechecked that I was sure

Having to do everything online for the remaining issues is not quite as exciting as the early days when I raided comic shops for their entire Uncanny back issue collection. I will own all the originals one day........

I used to have this big goal of having everything X-Men related... including all the offshoots and such. I was doing so well too, until I had to sell them all. I had every Uncanny X-Men issue from 117 up to current times. I had the whole collection of X-Men, X-Force, Generation X, Cable, X-Man, most of Wolverine, most of X-Factor, most of New Mutants, about 90% of all the mini series from the X-World, all of Exiles, all of All New Exiles, all of District X, Bishop, Gambit, New X-Men, most of Excalibur, etc.

Other than the first 116 issues of Uncanny, I had about 90% of the rest of the X-Men and X-Men related comics. I was about to start including guest appearances as well, and had a decent start on that. Then I lost my job earlier this year and had to sell almost all of it. Now I only have about 300 comics total, about 100 of which are X-Men related. I was very sad. I do have a decent trade collection though, so that's good.

Well, I'll say you'll find more joy in the world than sadness and despair if you look. It's just these bad things tend to take more notice by us. Like with the death of a loved one, I discovered it was the joy that made my heart break...the missing of those moments. Sure, I had moments where my grandma really upset me; but, they are so few.

We're just in a world where the media focuses on the bad. Good doesn't sell. Plus, I would offer that just yesterday, you were filled with joy just from the cooking of a great meal.

Yes, this incident sucks...but, how nice was it that you came along and helped out? That's the real lesson to be learned. It's actually a good story, not a sad one, if you put it into perspective.

Ok, I'm taking my daughter to lunch. Everyone still has a good hour left to debate anything. If for some reason you need a bit more time, PM me.

Just a reminder, once voting begins, you cannot debate any longer. Any comments made after voting begins must be removed. If it's not removed, I ask voters not to read it.

Good for you, although I will admit that it's not always the best course of action.

I was with one of my friends about a year ago and we were walking home form the bars (completely trashed) and we decided to cut through an alley so we could piss. When we got there we saw this one guy (college kid our age) beating the crap out of this older guy (maybe 40's, and he looked homeless). We went to stop the guy from beating the other one up and he got all pissy with us so we basically just threw him arund until he ran away. That's when I heard my friend scream. The guy we were helping got up, pulled out a knife, and stabbed my friend in the leg. I went to help my friend and the homeless guy ran off.

We called the police and they found the wallet of the college guy form earlier. WHen they questioned him, he sdaid that the homeless guy had robbed him a couple blocks away and he followed him and beat him up, until we stepped in.

So stopping someoen form getting beat up doesn't always end up well, but I would say that more times than not, it's the right thing to do (just not our time).

can we have a vote now on this for next season since CERTAIN posters wait till the last minute to put in an opening argument, and yet are on the hype during debating time. They just CHOOSE not to debate till the end...I wonder why :whatever:

My goal was originally the same although I wasn't as bothered about cameos in other comics that didn't relate to crossover storylines. Also I gradually dropped a lot of the weaker spin off titles as the quality dropped and more and more fringe members were used. I've got complete runs of all the regular titles except Uncanny (where I'm 80 or 90 short)

Sorry to hear about you being forced to sell your collection. Did you at least get a fair price?

No, but I didn't expect to. I had to sell most of my comics on ebay (some around here may remember, as some here bought). I had somewhere between 1200 and 1500 comics, down to 300. It hurt, but it was necessary. Lost my job and needed to pay bills somehow. I saved all of my favorate issues and storylines, as well as most of my trades... so I have what I love, but it bugs me not having what I did. Oh well, life moves on.

I wish I'd been around to buy from you. I was looking for a large complete run especially from a reliable party. Much quicker than filling in the gaps as I've been doing for 15/20 years.

There's a lot more to life than comics though. If you really want them you can always get them at some point in the future. I've very much enjoyed collecting them and they're among my favourite possessions but if the radiator one day leaks on them, I'll smash a few things up and then not worry too much more about them. As you say life moves on

So, Phaed said in the debating thread that we'd have to discuss Zemo with the moonstones. I'm all for discussion, but I really don't see why. Like I stated, Zemo has held the moonstones since 2004 and has used them in the New Thunderbolts run as well. If we use the current storyline argument, it'd be Zemo before Civil War, just after the conflict with Genis. He will have held the moonstones for two years in real-time. The storyline rule doesn't add up here.

If that's the case, then it's ok. I thought it was all revealed in a recent storyline; I just couldn't remember.

Wow, that sucks man. Good thing your friend just got stabbed in the leg.:xmen:

I was thinking about the trading thread, and think one of the reasons it might not have caught on was because it was in the misc. comics section. Do you guys think that many people only go to the DC or Marvel section, and avoid other areas within the SHH? I was wondering if it would be better to have a Marvel trading thread, DC trading thread, and a Independant/Other trading thread.

If you want to sell some comics, I am a serious buyer. You can ask JH.

Who is pinny ped? Didn't that person previously vote in the same way once before? It seems a bit weird.

Yeah, that person was the reason we made the posting rules in the first place....although, since they voted for Dead Girl, I really hated not counting his/her votes. It's nothing but a big tease!
