Official Contest of Marvels II Discussion Thread

Sorry I missed out on this rounds voting, I was hoping to get to it during lunch today!

Location: Avengers Mansion

In the fictional Marvel Comics universe, Avengers Mansion has traditionally been the base of the Avengers. The enormous, city block-sized building, currently abandoned, is located at 890 Fifth Avenue, Manhattan, New York City.

It had three above-ground floors and three basement floors. The first three floors were open to the public and had twelve rooms to house Avengers who wished to reside in the mansion, as well as Jarvis's quarters. A portion of the mansion's third floor served as a hangar for the Avengers' quinjets, their primary mode of transportation.
The three floors below ground were restricted to the public and had modified rooms for the Avengers' needs. Such rooms below ground were: Tony Stark's arsenal chamber, the Avengers gym, Hawkeye's test-shooting room, the training room (much like the X-Mansion's Danger Room), The cryogenic storage area, and the ultra-secure assembly room.

The Mansion was surrounded by a wall twelve feet high and one foot thick, as well as an array of high-tech security defenses. Nonetheless, those defenses were often breached by the supervillains faced by the Avengers.

(As per usual, the defenses are shut off. You can venture outside, if necessary; but, not off of Avenger's ground. The twelve foot high wall will be the farthest participants are allowed to reach.)

Ok, both of my matches this week are uncontested. So, again, if Primemover wishes to get some practice debating, he can go ahead and debate me. They just aren't much of a challenge, though.

Korath vs. Puck in Thread 2

Gorgon (Enemy of the State) vs. Attuma in Thread 3

Primemover would be debating for Puck and Attuma.

Wait a second here...I just saw the battles posted and you have put the fallen when I had put the fallen one high on my list.

I had listed the Fallen One ex herald of Galactus and then herald of Thanos not the fallen, one of the six.

I do believe it was suppose to be Fallen from Mutant X. Fallen One, as you point out, is a different character. But, I'll verify this with JewishHobbit. I don't even know if there is much information on Fallen One.

There is a bio of him in Wiki and he was in the Other category. I always thought it was the fallen one and had listed him in my top 5 characters.

Well, I PMed JH. But, I'm sure it's the Fallen. Like I said, we would probably have specified "Fallen One" if he was suppose to be the one used. I can also research later today or tomorrow morning the discussion we had about the character if JH can't remember.

Ok, I finally found Contest of Marvels Discussion thread in which we went over the entire list of who we wanted in for this season. Fallen is actually a carry-over from last season, and it is the one listed. We did, towards the end of our discussion, talk about the Fallen One; but, we determined there really wasn't too much about him and he could be considered too uber for this contest. He was dropped from consideration by the majority of discussers.

So, sorry, it is the Mutant X version.

Well that is just great, I put him in my top 5 thinking he was the ex-herald.

I even PMed the battle based on that.

I am pretty sour about this as he was going to be my top character.

Well my top character (Mimic) got screwed to. :(

That was just a better picture of him, as the other picture is from the Animated Series. But, both can be used for gaining information.
But his powers vary greatly between the two bios.

On the wiki it says:
Optic blasts,
Matter manipulation,
Immortality

And the other says:
enhanced strength and durabililty, draws on untold amounts of energy to direct as heat, light and concussive force from his eyes, convert into an energy form, create dimensional warpgates

I'm sorry to be a pain but it has to be one or the other because of how much they vary.

I'll take a look at this, BTW, what is the timeline for the debating, ie when does voting start?

Voting starts Tuesday, Noon, Pacific time.

Or is it Monday?

I so suck. I don't even remember the schedual, I just wait for Phaed to post it. What would I do without that wonderful hunk o' man?

They actaully aren't that different though.
wiki said:
Garokk is immortal: he does not age and even when killed, he can be returned to life. His petrified body also makes him difficult to injure. Garokk can fire beams of energy from his eyes. These beams can be heat, light, concussive force or can even open dimensional portals, capable of transporting an entire city. He can also turn his entire body into energy. Garokk has some mental connection to his followers. Garrok can also manipulate matter on a sub-atomic scale, he could rearrange the very fabric of the Savage Land

Both say he can shoot heat and concussive blasts from his eyes, create warp gates, is extra durable, and can convert into an energy form. The only power that is really any different is the matter manipulation power, and that he has a mental connection to his followers (which I don't really see me using anyway).

If for some reason we have to use one bio over the other, I would obviously vote for the Wikipedia one. Not just because it "shows him as stronger", but because it is an actal bio. The other bio is basically just those lines describing his power, and that's it. The wikipedia one goes indepth (to an extent at least) on his history and everything.

Debating goes from today until Tuesday, whenever I state Voting may begin. Generally, it's been going until 12:00 PST; but, if debating seems like it's finished pretty much, I will do it when I get to work at 8:00 am PST sometimes.

As for Garokk, just make sure you aren't using Animated Series. I'm not up on the character so well to know which is most accurate. You guys might have to research the character more indepth.

That's what I was thinking but there his appearence is...a mountain. So that bio but he's actually a human form like the other?

yeah, he's human form, just made of stone. Like most character's like this, he has been made different sizes by different writers. I figure, he's humanoid, not like the size of a mountain or anything.

Yeah...hard to fit a mountain in Avengers Mansion.

Could someone help me out. I am trying my best to wrap my mind around The Presence, but I can't figure his character out. What exactly are his powers? Weaknesses? Strengths? etc. I've been researching and though I find bios about his story, none are clear on his power scale. I can bullcrap a write up for now, but I really can't figure out how he works.
