Official Contest of Marvels II Discussion Thread

Thanks a lot, Wiegeabo, for getting the brackets up and running. I'm at work, feeling much better than yesterday, but not in top shape; so, that was really appreciated. Yep, it's the Negative Zone. I'll post the particulars in a bit.

LOCATION: Negative Zone

General Description
The Negative Zone is universe parallel to Earth's. The two have many similarities, but a few noteworthy differences include: all matter in the Negative Zone is negatively charged; the Negative Zone is entirely filled with a pressurized, breathable atmosphere; and near the center of the Negative Zone is a deadly vortex of unspeakable power. Since the Negative Zone is largely uninhabited, several would-be conquerors have attempted to bridge the gap to Earth and take over it's population.

(Above, you'll find three bios on this location. I figure we'll go with the world most know, Arthos. That is where Annihilus is from. As the inhabitants of these worlds would probably get into a fight with the characters, we'll say the location is uninhabited.)

I got a question that came to mind when I was reading Halloween jack'sbio. If someone like him (or Mimic) absorbs a power from the previous round will they still have it in the next round?

No. You start fresh each round with only the base powers the character normally has.

Yeah, you could've just told me and I would've edited it in, but that's okay too.

Glad you're feeling better.

Klaw vs. Famine:

Ok, I just got royally screwed! Why, do you ask? Let me show you:

Klaw's Bio:

Klaw possesses a number of superhuman physical powers stemming from his body's conversion into an extra-physical energy form. In some as yet unknown way, Klaw's body is a stable energy form possessing mass and sentience. This form is not bound by conventional human limitations: Klaw does not need food or sleep...

Need I go any further? Since my character of Famine works on depleting an opponent of their need for food and body, obviously her powers are useless in this match. I very, very rarely concede a match; but, this one is just waaaay too obvious.

Due to luck of the draw,

Winner = Klaw

Just redefined zoken-luck!

That was brought up last season, which is when we decided to not allow it. If we allowed characters to keep what they learned each round, they' be unstopable by the end. Probably too uber for the tournament.

anyone here read much mc2? I read avengers next and loved it but other than that I've only read spider-girl. Is any of the other mc2 stuff worth reading?

Seriously, I need to know what the Zodiac Key is made of, and also, is there any sort of civilization on Anhillus' planet?

Yes, there is civilization; but, the CoM II Beyonder has ensured that there is none for this match-up. As to what kind of items in this civilization would be at hand for a character to use, I just don't know.

I don't know what the Zodiac Key is made of. I remember seeing a bio recently on Zodiac; so, I'm thinking it's in the recently released Marvel 1990's Handbook that came out a week or two ago. I'll see if I can find it in my comics and see if it says anything.

What level of civilization and would they be in one of the abandoned cities?

When MC2 first came out, I believe it was Spider-Girl, A Next, and J2. Both A Next and J2 lasted 12 issues. Along with that, they released Fantastic Five and Wild Thing, which only went to 5 issues. That kind of killed things for MC2, except Spider-Girl. A few miniseries have come out that help explain certain characters in Spider-Girl, most notably The Buzz and Darkdevil. (I think each was 3 issues long.)

(Wow, I just went onto Wikipedia to see if I missed anything, and they pretty much have what I said.)

Anyway, you probably know about Last Hero Standing and Last Planet Standing, both two very good miniseries. I would recommend the books in this order:

1)Spider-Girl (original series)
2)Last Hero Standing
3)Last Planet Standing
4)Avengers Next
5)A Next
6)Darkdevil
7)Amazing Spider-Girl (not enjoying new series as much as previous for some reason)
8)J2
9)The Buzz
10)Wild Thing

That I just don't know. It's something to research or look at an old comic and see what it's like where they live. I'm hoping to find out more when I have a chance to look at some old Fantastic Four comics.

Yeah I read some spider-girl so looking forward to giving some more a try. Thanks :)

Is the Demask bio the right one? And do we have a pic?

It is. She's the AoA version though, not the 616 Ms. Steed version.

This is the only pic I could find of her. She's the one on the left with the pink psychic knives

As for the question that someone had about the Key.... I have no idea.

These should give you an idea

The citys are all below ground but the tech is pretty phenomenal, plenty to make use of here

I finally realized I didn't need that stuff... Scorpio is an android. METAL!

Lame:dry:

By this logic do nico's used spells reset each round? :woot:

Honestly, they probably would (though it's never been discussed). I've always tried to refrain from using the same spell twice when I had her, and if you use the same spells over and over again it gets boring for the voters. The fun is in being creative and imaginative with them.

not over and over but some of the spells used on tri-sentinal would also be effective against ultron for example

The reason is that the tournament is a series of independent battles rather than a tournament of fights. At least from our characters perspective.

I remember one of the arguments was Silver Surfer vs Cassandra Nova last season. An argument the Surfer was that his pacifistic nature would keep him from going all out against Nova. And because he knew it was just a tournament, Norrin wouldn't risk killing her just to win the fight and would sacrifice himself.

So we realized that this would limit many heroes. But by making each battle independent, all the characters are 'fighting for their lives' because they don't know what will happen if they lose. To do this, the fighters couldn't be allowed to carry over anything from previous rounds.
