And now I'm going to apologize in advance for the coming rant because I just have to get this out in a place that's not around the ears of my family because I am trying to be the strong rational minded one that's keeping the others upbeat. But I got home today and realized that my former step-dad kicked my little brother out of the house. Not just kicked him out (keep in mind that my brother has been paying all the bills while he jsut drank and smoked away his money with his tramp girlfriend) and not just kicked him out but chewed him out about how he's nothing. He took a chain and drug my brother's car out of the garage, damaging it, and wouldn't let him in to get the rest of his stuff. He then went on to tell my brotherhow he's leaving him here while coming to take my youngest brother and sister against their will to Kentucky with him and keeping them there (essentially in attempts to dodge the child support that the courts have decided to make him pay). My little brother, who is the tough guy punk redneck kind of kid, who is 19 years old, came to my house (I live with my mother to help her out of a mess that my stepdad already put her in with the bills) nearly in tears. There's no room here so we're making the garage into a room for him. Other crap that my step-dad has done since my mom threw him out months ago has gotten to me and this is just the last straw. I am fired up and I want to go over there and just kick the crap out of the drunk and his tramp girlfriend and take all their beer and dump it out in front of them and make them watch while explaining to him why he's always been a pathetic excuse for a father, a step father, and a person and how he'll never amount to anything more than an inrresponsible drunk and how instead of a family he just has a tramp at his side that will eventually leave him too. Then I'll gladly call the police and show them where his pot is and just have him arrested and wave as he's led into the car. Mess with my freakin' family and threaten to steal my brother and sister. I swear if I was a lesser man I'd be in jail by the end of the night. He actually had the nerve then to drive here and ask my sister if she and my youngest brother if they wanted to stay the night. It took everything in me to keep from running out there and just pulling him out of his car and show him how mean an angry nerd can get. He's fortunate my older brother is in Florida or he would have been left a bloody pulp in our yard.

Sorry, I just needed to get that out. I'll be the happy go lucky Hobbit again here shortly, I just needed to vent before going back upstairs again.

That totally sucks man. I live in Louisville, KY so if he does come to KY, let me know so I can arrange for him to meet some friends.

I've worked two 12 hour days in a row and have aquired somewhere around 12 hours overtime on my next paycheck. I don't know how some people work 6 or 7 long days a week. They're nuts!)

And what happened to Indiana?! My memory hasn't crapped on me totally yet has it? You did used to live in Indiana didn't you? And I'm actually going to be in Louisville the weekend of July 14th to go to the Sting & the Police Concert for my anniversary. Any good sight seeing places there?

Trust me you can do it when you are forced to. I did it for 3 years in an investment bank pulling all nighters quite a few times and appreciating when I was not working on weekends. But the work is often intellectually interesting.

In any case, it is not a lifestyle people maintain more then a few years considering as you advance in your career (and in these areas you either get promoted or fires) you tend to work less hours after you have hit a peak generally in the years 2-5.

Yeah, I am from Jeffersonville, IN (right across from Louisville) When my fiance and I moved in to an apartment together in Aug, it was here in Louisville. Not bad considering I am not really close to work (UPS) and school (University of Louisville) now.

Going to the concert at Churchill Downs huh? There are some cool places to visit. Send me a pm, and we can talk about it. Or, if the stars line up just right, we might be on IM at the same time at some point, but with you working 12 hours and me having school and working 3rd shift, probably not.

Ok, so I have a bit of a problem. Things have gone completely psycho at work at the moment. Mondays are a nightmare, fridays are worse. I'm working half the time on weekends and the other half I'm just totally wiped from the previous week.

This is why my debates have been so sporadic (just about to put up morlun's ky )

Basically I'm faced with a choice, I can keep debating but with only a few exceptions the only time I have free to debate is mon/tues/weds, or I can drop out.

Now let me explain, I have no desire to leave the competition but I feel it's somewhat unfair to keep putting up late debates. So basically (without wanting to go all drama queen) I have to ask are you guys ok with the late debates?

because work's ramped up due to a major client recently this may go on for a month or so or it might be for the rest of the contest.

Let me make this 100% clear, no feelings will be hurt if you think this is unfair and feel it's time for me to bow out. I hated it when other people did it to me so I will completely understand your position. I have no desire to quit but if I'm being unfair to other players i'd hate that too.

I think it's fine if you stay. We all know that because of work your posts will be later than some. I mean that's one of the reasons we extended debates until Wednesday I thought, because some people can't get on until after the weekend.

Also, since there seems to be maintenence on SHH this weekend, what are we doing about debates?

That's a good question. I'll post the brackets Friday like normal. If the site is only down for a few hours, or maybe just a day, we should be ok to go.

If it's down for too long, we can just postpone the voting for another week. So you'll basically get an extra week to debate (or relax).

Another option would be to push voting back from Wednesday to Friday, and make it Thursday to Saturday, or Friday to Sunday. Then take the next week off to get back into the normal routine.

Provided that you've let us know in advance and you've been a great asset to the game, I personally am okay with you sticking around. If anyone does have a problem with it then we'll talk, but as long as there's no objections I say stick around. Personal life always comes before the game.


and about the maintainance... I'm thinking we should just move the voting back and take small break afterwords to get back on schedual the following week. I'm sure we can all need it (after my past week or two at work, I sure can use it). As long as Phaed, and no one else has a problem with it, I think this is a good route to take.

Our anniversary is actually on the 20th so we're celebrating it the weekend before so we can go to the concert. We're excited because we're poor folk and usually spend our anniversaries at places like the flea market... or an aquarium. This is cool!

And Ice, I always forget to turn on Aim, but I'll try to get on more so we can try to catch one another.

I do have one point however, what is happening with Darthphere? It is not like he does not have time to post and yet we have 2 major players that will lose due to the you debate, you win rule. I have hard time seeing Elektra beating Morg and yet no words regarding Morg.

Firelord-Wolverine is almost as bad.

Firelord-Wolverine doesn't count as a debate. This is something that people have confused in the past before. Debate=win only applies (for me) at least, when the debator comes up with a strategy that accurately reflects the character they possess. So even though I could quite easily conjure up a strategy for Wolverine, Zoken won't be getting my vote because he didn't treat it seriously.

Serious debate=win.

Well, the you-debate you-win rule is not a hard and fast rule. It's just what some voters do. If you want to vote for a non-debated character, you can do that.

It sucks we may lose a couple of great characters because Darth didn't/couldn't debate. But that's how it works sometimes.

Which reminds me. I think Hellstormer's characters still need to be given out before the next set of matches. Anyone happen to have a list handy?

Well, I've got a meeting (sort of) at noon. So I'm going to add two hours to the debates. So there's still almost five hours to get debates in.
