I'm in Louisville and just saw Harry Potter. I will say that I enjoyed the movie more than the book, though they cut all my favorate scenes from the final fight scene which were...

Neville standing in the final alone with Harry and never giving up even though he couldn't do spells anymore, Dumbledore using the statues in the fountain to fight with him, and the details of the fight making it seem so desparate

The only other scene that kinda bugged me was

that they didn't explain what Luna and Ginny were doing that got them captured and brought along in the final battle. They were just kinda pulled in, though Neville got his reason in, though without the other two's reason it really doesn't make sense

So yeah, other than those, the rest of the movie rocked. I don't think it was as good as Goblet of Fire, but it was still good. They trimmed the fat from the book and put all the good things in and made it more interesting. Overall, I give a thumbs up.

TINY BIT OF MOVIE SPOILERS

I love all the books..and, the more I think of the movie and what they cut out or what they changed, the more peeved I get. Cho Chang gets royally screwed by not having her friend in the movie, the relationship all built towards the kiss then it ends just terribly, Ron is wasted in the movie and even parts that Rupert Grint was excited about seeing were scraped in the end....My solid B is probably a B- now.

You know he can grow on you in that Death God kind of way . I just noticed that. Somehow Pluto facing a phaed character has become like meat and potatoes now.

Yep, I've got it noted. We'll probably have debating start...but, then we'll be on hiatus until you get back. If for some reason everyone can get debates in before you leave, we'll have voting start right before you leave and can quickly get them in. We'll see how it goes.

Ok, same as last year, we have a tie with two characters owned by the same person. So, we add a new rule: If you own two characters, you still have to vote for who you think would win. This once, I'll let Ky make a decision on who he'd think would win in this match. Then, I'll take the character he wants as explained above in his post. Until then, I can't post the new matches until we get a final vote from him.

Well, I made it to the sweet sixteen. Which is sort of depressing since I made it to the elite eight last season. I was hoping to get that far again. (Actually, if Nimrod and New Sun both won I'd have had a guaranteed spot in the final four. )

Hey, my mouth is agape for how Ultimus made it into the elite 8. I scratched his battle with New Sun as my most probable loss this week.

That seems like an unfair advantage for Iron Man if he gets in.

Anyways, I am surprised that I am still in the competition and that i am in with Pluto who was not even among my top 5 (which I had based on false assumptions).

Whats scheduling going to be like for the next rounds.

I was planning on the 17th of August to go to Marrakesh until the 27th (where will have no internet access) and then on the 6th of September I am flying to Los Angeles for a week.

Of course that whole schedule will depend on me getting a new passport given that my maid put my old one in the washing machine .

Maestor versus Thor is a great battle...one that has kind of already hapenned in the comics (even though it was Hulk disguised as Maestro).

Iron man versus the black panther is like diddle dee fighting diddle dum .

I'm glad to see another 'regular' character make it into the elite eight. It makes every match in the whole tourney important because any character can get to the end.

Basically, it's the luck of the draw. The locations all get pulled, and these were just remaining locations that haven't been used yet. Same way Reed Richards got lucky with being in the Baxter Building. But, if the people in the contest want a more impartial location in the ending battles, I will drop it.
