I think Singer would have brought Cyclops back to grace in X3

me to, he would have not done what Brett did.

And then went to find Logan, blasted him through the window, eliminated the threat?

Haha, no, he wouldn't do that without a reason. But if some things from his dream were coming true, like if he did go to Alkali Lake and Jean appeared before him, recalling his dream, I think he would be just a bit angsy and freaked out

I wanted to comment on your analysis of X2 regarding Scott:

I think things went wrong in x-2 when already at the beginning he's waaay too emo out of the blue in the museum ("I love you I won't let anything happen to you" - that line and the way it was delivered got me annoyed)

I think the idea behind the scene was great but just not played out as well as it should have been. Jean is clearly troubled and afraid, and he really does love her and want to give her some confidence and strength that he's there for her. But that should have taken more than 30 seconds. Either take a break to grab some coffee and find a quiet, private spot to talk, or after the museum do another scene of them together, alone, following up and having Jean give a better explanation of what's troubling her, and Scott giving more reassurance.

That's one of the scenes i'm actually working on in my X3 rewrite, meant to be seen as a flashback.

then he loses to a lady that Logan ends up fighting (and winning)
Well to be honest, against the sudden onslaught and Lady Deathstryke I don't think anyone would have had a chance. Even Logan barely won, and only because he took advantage of the adamantium injectors. Only real way for Scott to win would be probably to blast her with his optic beams full force and totally destroy the body. And Scott by nature isn't known to use lethal force as his first choice.
and worst, he has nothing to do with saving the day. (Storm saved the world in cerebro, Jean saves the jet, Nightcrawler saves the kids - what did Cyke do?

It was unfair, but I don't worry about it too much. I think X2's point was to show what happens when everything goes wrong. Or it was just set up so that Scott couldn't really do much. He could have blasted the doors to Cerebro and opened them, but that would have made things worse, right? Granted he could have been doing alot more shooting and combat to protect Jean after they were reunited, or come up with a plan to shut down the power generation equipment to turn off Cerebro (come to think of it, that would actually be a pretty good idea and very Scott-like!)
Blast his gf?
Well he didn't do that on purpose! :O
Ruined the dam?)
wasn't that Jean's fault? And didn't Logan make it worse by closing the spillway?

by all means...

The idea is great but the outcome made Scott look... How did Marsden put it "I was the woman in the relationship" or something along those lines?

That's one of the scenes i'm actually working on in my X3 rewrite, meant to be seen as a flashback.

I'd love to read it.

True, but if you choose that path and then Scott is gone for the rest of the movie you buildup expectation for his return which, to me, was very anti climatic. Let him do some good, give him a chance to make up for 'failing' to defend the professor...

wasn't that Jean's fault? And didn't Logan make it worse by closing the spillway?.

To be honest I don't remember... I think he blast Jean and hit the wall, but I'm not sure... at any rate it happened because he attacked Jean. Kurt attacked the president, but then again he also saved the x-kids, and Rogue, and helped Storm to get into cerebro. If I didn't know better (and I listened to the commentaries so I do) I'd think that whoever made x-2 didn't like Cyke very much.

I think I remember that Cyclops had a lot mroe to do but it was clipped from the script originally. He was in a cell talking to another prisoner one room over, who's face you never saw. Finally, Cyclops escapes and finds that the prisoner is Warren Worthington, and they leave together or something like that. Anybody know the full story on this?

Bryan talks about a scene in the X2 commentary about how a scene was written where Scott and Prof X "escape" from the base back to the mansion, except you eventually realize that it was all in Prof X's head. It was too much time to spend on a fakeout though, so they took it out. A couple of the clips from it are included on the X2 special features disc though.

haha, too much time to spend on a fake out... yet we get to watch Wolverine get denied by Jean Grey 87 times and nothing comes of it

I watched X-men 1.5, not much was said about Cyclops. Shocking.

And this is another thing about Cyclops character. Sure he flew the X-jet, but remember the landing, and than Wolverine critizised it and Scott said he was sorry. It made him look like he was inexperienced at flying the Jet.

And, I think Ntcrawler mentioned this, it would be nice to see Cyclops being afraid of hurting the people he loves with his beam. It would have added more to his scene in X3. He's afraid of hurting the ones he loves by opening his eyes, but he only hurt himself.

Scott and Logan was at each others neck the whole movie why would that be scene be any different...Does logan like flying??..what did he say when jean dive the X-jet down in X2....someone said "please don't do that again"...Logan said Agreed...you're actually nipticking scene here..their are other great scenes in the movie..Did you look at the scene when he was talkin to the unconsicious Professor X...I'll take care of them....the father son moment??

And I take it you didn't sense a bit of sarcasm in his tone? He didn't say sorry like, "OMG I'm sorry, is everyone okay?!"

He just said, "sorry." He was being sarcastic to Logan when Logan decided to shoot him a glare.

Lol. It's just, if he had as much Training as should have been shown, he should have been able to land it flawlessly. And there are parts in the movie that I liked about him, I'm just debating... that's all.

Well, perhaps you're right. But also remember that they were trying to be stealthy with their arrival and it's funny because Magneto knew they were coming anyways.

They were landing on water and I think they just wanted to cut down on the noise rather than just land it.

One look out the window, seeing fog mysteriously appear out of nowhere and you could almost see him bare his teeth and mouth the word "Charles..."

That too. Plus avoid spraying all that water from the vertical thrusters which would have made quite a sight to behold and ruin the whole point of being stealthy. So just dropping it the last few feet kept things quieter.

If in doubt with Cyke - chop. He was even axed from his own death scene. ;)

Why would Cyclops apologize than, and I don't think he was being sarcastic.

Not since Obi-wan's last scene in Star Wars ANH has a "death" scene been so misunderstood and sparked so controversey

This "Death scene" (though I've been convinced Cyke is not dead by those lovely fanfic writers) can be added to one of the most mysterious mysteries on earth, just like Bermuda Triangle.

Yes indeed, so mysterious that people can't even agree whether it is a "death scene" or not, haha. What are some of your favorite fanfics that deal with this topic, btw?

Sure is a hot topic whether he is dead or not

what's wrong with thinking positive? :) Isn't it better for the outcome to be a living, breathing person who can do more good things in the world, instead of a cold, ugly gravestone?

Aside from X4 by COMIC CRITIC and those fanfic on fanfiction.net, I highly recommend Minisinoo's "Grail" http://www.themedicinewheel.net/grail/grail.html
This story is exactly what I think X3 should be...
As for other slash fanfic of X3 I guess I'll just skip them, coz I think that they might give a guy a heart attack:D

Ah, yes, you know about Grail too? Fantastic! Yes indeed, Grail shows not only the true, beautiful power of the Phoenix, but also the true power that is Jean Grey. It turned what is a crazy tragedy into something that can be wonderful. Isn't it a fantastic piece of work? Certainly puts X3 to shame!!!

Reading it gave me a sense of fulfillment like I was there with the team to help save the day. One of my top 3 favorite stories so far...

Yeah, Grail is an amazing story. Thanks for shamelessly pimping it around these boards, ntcrawler ;)
There were parts in the story I could do without though. I'm currently in the chapter where Jean rises from the lake, and thinks she is a woman named Madelyne Pryor. It's an amazing chapter. The writer nailed not only Jean's power, but also her confusion.

As for Scott returning in a possible X4...I'd say no. I hated the decision to kill him off ever since I read the AICN script reviews, but I remained positive.
I thought X3 was pretty much garbage, but bringing Scott back in X4 would make it even cheaper.
X3 came back on so many plotpoints already: the cure isn't permanent and the professor is not dead. If you'd bring Scott back too, it would invalidate almost the entire movie, making it a worthless chapter in the saga.
I personally would like to see X4 starting its own story: bring the younger characters more to the forefront and introduce some new ones, and have Storm and Wolverine be more like their teachers and trainers.
