You could say that Wolverine was defending Jean's honour... he is perched at the end of Scott and Emma's bed and says "What stage of grieving is this? Denial?" (perhaps not exactly in those words)

And then Cyclops fires him into the yard, and then they have more words and fight a bit more.

Jean was the one who pushed Cyclops to Emma, though... it's just that nobody currently living knows about it.

I love that fight in Astonishing... I wish they'd shown more of it instead of keeping it off-panel, though it still worked the way it did... I avy'd this cell:

Of course I'm not happy.... For me X3 never happened...

That's how I feel too. Either it's just one of those "what-if" alternate realities, or Scott was having a really bad dream, then wakes up and realizes he's right back where he was at the beginning of X3.

As Jean put it in another story when Logan keeps bugging her about her choice, what she wants isn't the same as what she needs. She knows that what she needs is something that's good for her, and that is something she wants more than anything else.
