Dark of the Moon OFFICIAL Dark of the Moon REVIEW THREAD - Part 1

When Tyrese asked why the Decepticons always get the coolest s**t, it got me thinking. What is the coolest or most powerful Autobot weapon/vehicle/etc. Omega Supreme's the only thing I've ever been in awe of.

Oh yeeeaaaahhhh. I found some link to ask.com where somebody wanted to know if Metroplex could beat Trypticon in a fight....whatever those things are lol

You've never played Transformers fight for cybertron?

Sadly, I've been stuck at the part where you defend Ratchet while he repairs Zeta Prime for like a year :O

Do you have it on PS3? I could help you co-op it. After I die many times since I haven't played it in a while.

No, X-Box haha. Thanks though, I'll give it a dozen or so tries today. The game's just collecting dust. I wish Warpath from the game was in the movie instead of Jazz or the Twins

I don't think so
Sentinel Prime used his acid rust gun which basically reduced Ironhide to dust.

Oh yeah he did...I forgot about that. I just remember him shooting him point blank twice.

1. It was a secret alliance formed between only he and Megatron.

2. It was in Egypt.

1. I understand it was a secret but if the plan was vital to the war I'm pretty sure Megatron would've told his troops "Hey don't fire on this ship guys" Just seemed like poor writing to me. whatever.

2. Ok. I can't keep up w/ the difference between the All-spark, Matrix of Leadership and whatever was hidden in the 2nd film.

It felt like an extended episode of Generation 1. It really did. It borrowed the plots of "The Ultimate Doom" and "Megatron's Master Plan" and followed them fairly well. It think if you were a fan of the show you'd see this. Even the weak characterization and hokey villain scheme of world domination seemed like it was ripped right out the 1980s cartoon. I loved that. Dylan reminded me an awful lot of Dr. Arcaville and the humor was toned down. Even the humor seemed slightly like an edgier version of the 'toons humor, except for that deep wang scene. Although I thought Bay brutality did a nice job of counterbalancing the humor.
It felt more like a live-action cartoon than other movies that have attempted that feel. And it was great entertainment because of it.

It was exactly what it should have been and after all, we are talking about a movie that, after the director and writer are credited, we see:

"BASED ON
Action Figures"

1. I think the autobots shot it down. The Ark was being piloted by a bunch of Decepticons carrying Sentinel who just defected that only Megatron knew about. He was locked away. I don't think all the Decepticons knew about the alliance. So, it really could be either side but I think the autobots shot him down and Optimus was regretful of that because he knew Sentinel was their last hope.

...Or it could just be because that's why the Autobots stick around in all their cartoons and comics...

That's not the point, Bay does make some political commentary in these movies. Certain things he does highlights that, whether they be subtle or blatant.

Sure it's the point. If Bay is making a Transformers movie, and (if you've ever watched the cartoon) Optimus Prime chronically makes the point "we must protect the humans from the Decepticons" in the Transformers fiction then I'd say that's why it's done. You can read all sorts of fascism into The Dark Knight and into the notion of Batman in general, but that hardly means Nolan is a subversive Fascist.

I don't think Michael Bay is a neocon, but I do think he's exceptionally Patriotic and also a huge supporter of people in the military. His earlier film The Rock was basically about how the Government, Liberal and Conservatives were a bunch of *****etards who were screwing over the military and their greiving families.

Please don't accuse Michael Bay of being subtle.

I honestly don't care but to me in DOTM the many things he does makes it so blatant. I mean we hear in the movie Optimus say that the Autobots are helping humans with their problems, then we see them plowing through the Middle East blowing stuff up. At the end he focuses on a tattered American flag when the battle ends. Showing the shot of the flag makes no sense in the context of the movie since Earth won, not just America. I just don't think its right to have Autobots trying to solve problems of the world. Just fight the Decepticons. IMO those things are in poor taste since these are complicated issues within our current time.

I saw this last night and really enjoyed it.

I was surprised how dark the moon actually got during some scenes.

After the complaints some had beforehand regarding the subtitle, do you now get why they called it Dark of the Moon? Aside from the obvious.

Well I think I will give my review now because that is the only one that matters lol jk.

Dark of the Moon 7.5/10

Pros:
-A plot twist
-A good amount of action
-fights actually last longer than 15 seconds
-IMO Rosie turned me on more than Fox ever did, and I prefer brunette over blonde.
-Barricade finally comes back to end the fans outcry of his death not being shown in the first movie.
-A way better way to end the series than ROTF.

Cons:
-It makes no sense what so ever why Fox's character would want to break up with Sam after all they have been through. Maybe she thought if she broke up with him the action would finally leave her life and I guess it did.
-I might of missed it but what happen to soundwave? He got treated lilke crap in this movie. Lazerbeak had a bigger role than him.
-How does Megatron go from wanting to help the Fallen destroy Earth to wanting to use Earth to rebuild their home World. Before the War came to Earth he had like 3 masterplains! Allspark/Fallen/Earth Slave Labor! He should of only had one!
-Starscream never stayed true to his character and tryed to overthrow Megatron.
-Shockwave had no important role in this movie what so ever, at least he was more lucky than Soundwave.
- Megatron was a badass in the first movie,in ROTF he needed help to defeat Prime, in DOTM he gets beat in 5 seconds by a 1 handed Prime. He was a joke in DOTM and Bay did not give his character justice. He was not the true Megatron that most Transformers fans have come to love. He was a weak as they come.

In the end not a bad way to end the series. My main complaint is that Megatron was thrown under the bus by Bay.
