Saw this earlier today and it was great. The actions in this were really off-the-charts awesome (especially the battle at Chicago) and the visuals by ILM, as usual, is wonderful. Shia gave a superb performance and Rosie did quite well in her first role and she was far better than Fox. One (although there are more) thing I was hugely disappointed by is to see how small Shockwave's role was, he was barely in the movie.

Overall, the movie was enjoyable, yeah the movie has its ups and downs , but I came out from it satisfied.

Have I mentioned before that I love io9's movie reviews?

http://io9.com/5816415/transformers-3-is-a-movie-about-how-wrong-you-were-to-hate-transformers-2

"After a few hours of seeing Shia get dissed, overlooked and mistreated, the message becomes clear: Shia, as always, is a stand-in for Michael Bay. And Bay is showing us just what it felt like to deal with the ocean of Haterade — the snarking, the Razzie Award, the mean reviews — that Revenge of the Fallen unleashed.....
...It's not really a spoiler to say that the final hour of this film includes a series of scenes where absolutely everybody stands around saying how wrong they were to ignore Shia, and how awesome Shia really is.
That's the reaction Michael Bay is envisioning you'll have by the end of this film: a deep remorse that you ever doubted him, and a profound appreciation for his contribution to the continued awesomeness of the world."

I love io9's movie reviews.

lmao

you can have comedy without having characters that just cross the line of sanity or realism...or more importantly the genre this is trying to be (independence day for example)
And you can also have comedy that does cross that line. It's subjective and most people just don't like that bay is making those types of movies so it's billed as bad when really it's just not what they are willing to accept.

Honestly speaking I thought it worked really well in the first.(and apparently all critics secretly loved the first so, who's to say)

did we really need the scene where josh does his cliche..." im not gonna ask any of you guys to go with me, you might not come back"...etc speech
NO, we don't we just need more silly scenes, everyone loves those.
It seems kinda like a no win situation imo.

My biggest complaint is that if you are going to give us a Robot Apocalypse and our survival depends on the Autobots...stop having half a dozen marines kicking the ass out of Decepticons. Seriously, after Starscream and Shockwave...I was pretty confident we didnt need Prime and Co.

Humanity had this pretty easy.

i actually really liked the scene with the marines strategically taking down some decepticons.... it was a nice step back from the metal-carnage

plus the only reason they were badass was because the autobots trained them to fight the decepticons, they sorta hinted it at the beginning half where they were training in the hanger

I couldn't honestly call DOTM a good movie, but it was certainly a guilty pleasure. I'll sit through plot holes and ******ed Michael Bay-isms to hear Peter Cullen spew awesomeness and watch Optimus Prime shredding jerks.
Hell yeah kind of like a robotic Batman who kicks @ss and never looks back, and I would imagine Peter Cullen would have a say into Prime's dialogue and would agree that there are some times that even Prime has to let loose from time to time.

If there was one flaw in Transformers 3, it was how they portrayed Kennedy. I and another guy in the audience had to stifle our laughter. Was he a robot in disguise? Should have just hired an actor - because CGI humans, doesn't work.

That said? WOW!!! This has officially become my third favorite movie of the summer and the year next to X-Men: First Class and Super 8. I was never really that into Megan Fox, don't know what it was - she just never did it for me. Enter the chick who plays Carly - she's a million times hotter, smooth, slender, she's got curves: the ideal woman. The Duchess.

I've always loved movies that have to do with outer space, so maybe that's part of the reason I liked this film a lot. It was amazing seeing Neil Armstrong and I truly wonder if he too saw aliens or UFOs, Buzz Aldrin did. All of the actors were in top-notch shape. It was also awesome hearing Leonard Nemoy as Sentinel. The plot was actually linear this time, kudos to the writers for keeping it up unlike it's predecessor. There were several changes from the original script (in book form), but I loved how it advanced - killing Megatron over Megatron suddenly switching over to declaring peace for all. Simmons and Dutch are at it again, so are the parents, very enjoyable - the corny humor is there but to less of a degree which helped. The final hour of the film? All I can say is BAD ASS! Especially in 3D. It kept reminding of the scope of some of 'The Dark Knight' scenes - probably mainly due to it sharing the same awesome city of Chicago.

Optimus Prime does come off as darker in this film, he shows absolutely no mercy. But considering how he got there? Any soldier would have done the same. Also I actually loved the editing, the jump cuts to black, I have no idea why - some will probably hate that - but, I felt like it kept the momentum going.

Transformers 1 - 10/10
Transformers 2 - 7/10
Transformers 3 - 10/10

Bay has created a new trilogy formula here, one of the few third films that rises above.

This does seem to present a problem in the TF universe, for just about every other alien invasion film gets away with this.

I'd like to see what would happen in the humans decided to take down prime and co, missed opportunity if you ask me.

That right there would come dangerously close to making me not want to see this.

It was pretty sad. Dude was outclassed after calling him out.

yea, and this will more likely get the posters who hate us complaining about this movie upset...

But Prime has always been the hero, he would always sacrifice hisself for the good of others, at least that's what i remembered him as in any generation of TFs.

and so we dont have anyone complaining that i'm talking about G1; if i remembered correctly, wasnt he willing to have Sam put the allspark in his chest (risking termination ) to save the good of the planet, now he's begging for his life? Since when. That's something megs or starscream would say, but nto Prime.

(sidenote: have not seen the movie yet, but do attend to see it today)

The main thing that's keeping me interested is actually seeing the city I work in get ****ed up, actual landmarks and streets I walk down everyday.

I don't know , it kind of irks me that Optimus went from missing some of the fight and being unable to save Jazz because he was busy kicking ass on under the highway in the first one, to missing some of the fight and being unable to stop his friends from being captured by Decipticons because he was tangled up in wires.

That took away some of his gangster status on that one.

actually all he said was please and then don't
this isn't really a star scream like on his knees campaign. Moreover he had plenty of opportunities to beg in the other confrontations throughout the film. Something about [BLACKOUT]missing limbs[/BLACKOUT] may have forced him to say those two words.

Here's another gem:

"Michael Bay wants to slam you off your axis, like a building being knocked sideways by a prehensile robot penis from outer space. So he can awaken you to the truth. When Asian men thrust their crotches in your face — in 3D — while screaming "Deep Wang! Deeeep WANG!", or Alan Tudyk (!) impersonates a gay ex-Nazi manservant in a weird suit, you are being reprogrammed. Michael Bay is flooding your brain with random input, so that a parade of colorful anthropomorphic vehicles can roll into the center of your cortex and turn it into a whirl of CG tubes."

See, this is why I can't respect a lot of Transformers fans. You're complaining about tertiary characters and whether or not they have dialogue?!? Do some of you actually think before you complain about something?

Nope. Like I said a few pages before, no amount of quality this/these films have to offer stand a chance with this sort of mind-set when "OMG LAZERBEEK SPEEKS????!".

Give me a break. His dialogue was perfect.
After shooting the gov. official down he says "It was nice working with youuuuu". It was great.

and it begins..which to me is the best part of judging these movies...the fans that like the movie complaining about the fans who didnt like the movie...."yup because you didnt like the movie you are in the wrong, and the world is off balance, and you just naturally hate bay, blah blah"...give it a rest already

not everyone is gonna like the things that are done in this world. Accept it, respect it and stop trying to come from a stand point that if anyone shares a different opinion then your own, that they are whats' wrong with this world....

have not seen it yet, plan on it today, and probably will feel the same way about part 3 as i felt about the last two.

somebody said it best...M.Bay is good for the action that's it..everything else he fails in...that's a reality and some of you need to deal with it.

what is so hard about not liking a film...good lord

Then perhaps you should take your own advice. Clearly.

Do you see me getting upset because someone likes the movie, or feels its the best movie they ever seen or thinks it rates 10/10.

i'll answer that for you. NO!

What I really like about Revenge of the Moon is the depth to the action. There was violence, but it was violence with real heart.

Which film?
OOPS, Dark of the Moon, I meant. That would be insane if the moon ever got revenge on humans, I would hate to be on earth during that time frame.

I mean toward the end, in this one, the hopelessness you get from Tyrese talking to Sam about how "it's over", but how even then Sam is just going to walk into the city to his death.. that kind of high-stakes, all-costs emotion I think resonated throughout the final battle.

But what I really, really love is what these movies are and their place in the TF legacy. This is a franchise people are so passionate about that is basically the poster child for a major corporation ruthlessly marketing to children and instilling a lifelong love and dedication to a toyline. The movies could have been better made, realer films but they ARE the ultimate toy commercials and I think few would argue with that. And this is a series who's most celebrated moment for most fans was the 1986 animated film, a commercial affair so twisted that the trailers and TV spots ran the tagline "Does Prime DIE?!?", brazenly employing the children's emotional connection to their favorite toy to generate box office heat.

Considering that, I respect the Bay films as the paramount of this 25+ and counting franchise. It is an entertaining, franchise sustaining entry. What more do they want, Bay?

Humanity had this pretty easy.
Agreed 100%. I was getting very pissed that each time they showed an autobot ready to fight in the last act they would cut to Shia. It was annoying. The humans should have had their moment in the building with the driller and wing suits but then we should have seen Bee, Sideswipe and crew destroying decepticons left and right. There was very little bot on bot. Less so then the first movie.

Here's the thing, the film could be a lot better. Beyond the fact that you can say that about any film. Bayformers really could be a celebrated thought provoking character opus. Anyone who denies this is probably kidding themselves.

The greater fact is, so could Evil Dead.
It is what it's supposed to be and to critique a feel good comedy for not being a feel good drama is missing the point. Especially when the words 80's toy commercial are in the mix.

What I see happening I'd equate to a bunch of critics watching saturday morning cartoons with their kids and scoring them all 1 star for lack of an insurmountable amount of things.

If 3 installments can generate the audience it has without losing a step, than somethings working. Ipod may not be the "best" smart phone on the market but then again any business student will tell you it is. People are ok with doing something as silly as this for Transformers more than most things because it's become a cultural marquee to do so. I've walked into a film class and said Bayformers is an abomination, I got claps, I felt cool. I was cool.

Guys,

Optimus Prime kills Megatron first and then Sentinel Prime. Both had caused far too much devastation to trust, and after what Sentinel did, I'd say it was the right choice.

agreed, but only in the last act.
Prime still got some nice pieces for his trophy wall.
Bee too.
