Here's the thing, the film could be a lot better. Beyond the fact that you can say that about any film. Bayformers really could be a celebrated thought provoking character opus. Anyone who denies this is probably kidding themselves.

The greater fact is, so could Evil Dead.
It is what it's supposed to be and to critique a feel good comedy for not being a feel good drama is missing the point. Especially when the words 80's toy commercial are in the mix.

What I see happening I'd equate to a bunch of critics watching saturday morning cartoons with their kids and scoring them all 1 star for lack of an insurmountable amount of things.

If 3 installments can generate the audience it has without losing a step, than somethings working. Ipod may not be the "best" smart phone on the market but then again any business student will tell you it is. People are ok with doing something as silly as this for Transformers more than most things because it's become a cultural marquee to do so. I've walked into a film class and said Bayformers is an abomination, I got claps, I felt cool. I was cool.

Yeah this movie has too much entertainment value to just pass it off as a one star film. But it certainly has flaws...and a long running time haha.

Okay the TF mythos as a whole isn't particular mind blowing stuff guy and/or girls. Most of it particularly the G1 cartoons are extremely simplistic. I respect the material but I don't hold it on golden cloud or whatever. I enjoy the Bay TF movies for what they are mindless summer action flicks. I am not looking for a overly complex story about robots based on a toy/ cartoon line. Basically I want to see robots fight. As far as I am concerned they have served purpose.

Really diehards and critics were gonna hate this moive no matter what. They already had the mind set of I HATE MICHEAL BAY and so I will hate any of his movies. Example, you all complained that Optimus was to weak in TF 1 because he got owned by Megatron for most of the fight. So they make in stronger in ROTF and Dark of the Moon and you whine he is overpowered.

Okay decepticons are killing humans left and right in the finale battle and Optimus is suppose to show compassion for decpticons Really? O you guys killed humans it's cool I am not gonna fight as hard as I can to protect humans. Well I am at it hey Megs wanna stab me in the back and kill me again? Seriously, your complaining because Optimus is a warrior in this?

The only thing I might agree on is the ending. ( haven't see the movie but read the novel). I like the truce ending in the novel over the movie ending.

I hope there is a reboot in the future. I hope its tailored just for TF diehards. Then if it flops they will only have themselves to blame. Not saying the Bay movies are great, but I sick the the whinny fans who are pissy because the movies weren't done how THEY wanted it to be done.

Actually they say Prime is a pansy in this, I disagree.

It's true that a bayless sequel will probably make a fraction of the revenue. Unless they get a big name director. And there are currently only three that are as big or bigger.

though vaughn would be a great choice.

Worst film ever made

well almost.

^ hahaha "Its Awesome" "Best movie EVER" "Optimus Prime #1"

All the complaints Ive heard on the movie here on the boards have been pretty solid so far. The critics are the ones who are bashing it too harsly but that was expected.

It would be nice to have a film where the bots are the characters focused on.
We saw 90% of all bot battles in the 2min an 30 sec trailer. The movies 2 hour and 40 min and most of the time is just spent jumping from one weird ass character to the next. Some of these new characters were better suited for Alice In Wonderland.

I'd gladly trade one G1 purist TF movie for 3 Bayformer insults.

and I'm sick of people slamming the G1 mythos. Most of them only saw a couple of episodes so they feel that gives them the right to dismiss the entire series of comics and tv episodes.

The movie was just a little better than TF2....it still has pointless scenes that are long....the actual robot fighting scenes were short....the focus on the humans was amazingly too much...the building took forever to fall....

honestly the building put up a better fight against Sam and the humans than the decepticons did...

and why did she ask women who's better (Fox or Rosie)? obviously chicks are not gonna vote for the bigger competition(megan fox aka their boyfriends wet dreams)

Dreamwave comics were great but short lived. The Marvel comics were schlocky art, incredibly stupid shock value plot points, and meandering story-telling. I read many of the old comics as a kid and I've seen every episode of G1. I love it, but not because of its quality storytelling. It was good at being what it was supposed to be, as are the Bay films.

For every cool, interesting or deeper episode of G1, there were twice as many more akin to "Auto-Bop". (That's the one where the Decepticons open up a downtown hip hop club called Dancitron, using the power of dope beats to hypnotize humans into slave labor.)

Brilliant post.

I just came back from The sold out noon 3D showing of DOTM, IMO this was so much better than ROTF. I thought the war aspect was greatly showcased in this film (I'd have love to have seen The Autobots find a way to revitalize Cybertron in the end similar to how it occurred in the end of G1 animated series {The Rebirth, Part 3} But in the end The Autobots are victorious in the war against the Decepticons with the help of Sam and Humanity .

I thought the pace of the film dragged at times but no where as much it did in ROTF. The story was pretty straight forward and pays homage to two episodes arcs from the G1 series The three part mini trilogy "The Ultimate Doom and the two-parter "Megatron's Master Plan, ". I like how Bay added a unique twist to the first mission to the moon as a secret operation to recover alien existence and tech. However I felt that Sam story at the beginning was anti-climatic considering in ROTF he not only saved the world but it pretty much was established he was important and had a connection to the Transformers (Technically he should not be struggling for a job). Humans alliance with the Decepticons was a little far-fetched and i'm surprised that the human were actually dumb enough to even trust them. The worst was Patrick Dempsey's character Dylan Gould what an *******.

As for the transformers themselves it was nice to see The Autobots continuing their alliance with The military while still hunting down the remaining Decepticons who now are greatly diminished from their last battle
(Megatron was basically shell of his former self damaged beyond repair, broken, and defeated), (I'm surprised Starscream didn't attempt to assert himself as leader of the Decepticons, he actually felt pity for Megs which is surprising considering he's always wanted to be in command.) (Soundwave hardly did much) (Shockwave looked cool and those drillers he controlled were pretty wicked but again he didn't do much.) (Surprisingly Lazerbeak had way more of a presence in this film than expected.) (I'm shocked that Sentinel Prime was more of a threat than either Megs or The Fallen. He was just absolutely ruthless and down right evil for his cause. Major Props to Leonard Nimoy who totally owned the role and was basically Galvatron in this film

On The Autobots side
Optimus Prime was awesome in every scene he was in .
Bumblebee shined as a true hero
Ironhide (SON OF A....) Went out like a trooper
Sideswipe wish their was more of him
Ratchet was hardly in the film
Mirage where was he in the final battle ?
The Wreakers and Wheelie were more useful than expected .

Still the action was great and overall the audience I was with enjoyed the film and clapped at the end if this is Bay's last film at least he went out with a bang .

the building never fell actually... its still floating up their somehow...

and it only took one little plane to bring down the twin tower lol

Again what was so terrible about it? Because it did'nt follow G1 cartoons to the letter? Because Bumblebee is not a beatle? Megatron is not a gun? Because humans are in it? Because your personal fave TF did'nt get enough screentime or died? All fanboy nitpicking in my opinon. Your entitled to you opinions but why did you see this in the first place. It seems you hate Bay and the previous 2 movies. Does't make sense to me to waste money on something you know you will hate going into.

Um pleast tell me where I made one complaint about any of that. I barely remember the transformer cartoons from the 80's.

I liked the first Transformers, it was fresh and while not perfect, it was a fun ride and made you want to see more. The second movie was absolute ****. While this movie isn't as bad as that one was, it's still no where near the first one.

This is like the transformers movies for crack babies. People with extremely short attention spans, who don't care about things like, plot and character development.

I like Shia LeBeouf, but these movies have done a total disservice to his career IMO. He needs to go back to doing movies like "the greatest game ever played" and "holes", where he seemed charming instead of an annoying little prick.

G1 is very silly, sadly nostalgic fanboys can't see that

The interesting thing is that most people that complain about these weird characters will happily sit through Alice in Wonderland and not roll their eyes once.

Moreover, I honestly can't imagine sitting through Battle LA at this point. I never saw it mainly because I knew I'd spend the whole time waiting for Optimus to fly in and twirl around. But again, there are many that enjoyed it sans autobots.

Ridiculous. I want to know what makes a person an "avergae moviegoer"?
People who don't spend all their time on the net? Don't most people spend all their time on the net? Aren't we all "average moviegoers"? People get thrown into this lump sum of a group but what does it actually mean and who does it apply to?People may not be die-hard Transformers fans but that doesn't mean they can't pick a good movie from a bad one, depending on their tastes. And tastes vary. People know what they like. Doesn't mean they should be thrown into this group of brainless drones. That's the kind of studio talk fanboys hate. And yet, they apply it to everyone else who isn't a fanboy.

And why does Transformers get ridiculed for being "dumb" all the time? Was Green Lantern not dumb? Was Thor not dumb? That movie had probably the most annoying human characters in a superhero flick in a long time (and one being an Oscar winning actress GO FIGURE). More annoying since they were trying to be taken seriously as opposed to the comic-relief characters in Transformers who are purposely writen to be odd-ball goofs.

And why can't Transformers be given a 10? I gave it an 8. It could have been a 10 had it not been for the gigantic runtime and few scenes here and there that bothered me. But overall they have no barring on the quality of the film as a whole. I hate Big Momma's House btw, and some of my favorite films of all time are heave thought-provoking dramas. Is that better for the elitist army of movie snobs who can't appreciate things for what they are? Can I be cool now?

Had I've been interviewed I probably would have acted the same way. I also find it very telling how all this time fans ***** and complain about Prime not having a trailer. Now he has a trailer and all you hear is "LAZER BEEK SPEEEKS??!!".

Absolutely ridiculous.

You think Battle LA is transformers without the robots? You are kidding? Well I guess you didn't see the movie.

Battle LA is basically about the Marine Corps/military life, the Aliens are a backdrop. It couldn't be anything further from Transformers.

The Laser Beak in DOTM should be leading the Deceptions, STRAIGHT UP.

yea, I'm talking about the way it was sold moreso.
But from what I saw it was humans shooting off screen and military operations against giant pillars and junkpiles for the majority of the action.

I bring it up in lieu of people not being able to stand the constant military operations in TF.

You know what kills me? I know people who LOATH Transformers but LOVE Jackass. I can't with these people.

yea but jackass is supposed to be silly
Transformers is supposed to be serious
big difference.

That's not a really apt comparison because they're different movies. Unless your comparing the humor in each movies. Bay's humor is so lazy though at least people of Jackass are creative with what they do. I personally can only like Jackass for short periods; after too long it just gets tedious and annoying for me.
