I dont think the problems with these films have ever been that the Transformers are too far from the G1 selves. There some shady choices character wise, but I thought they were bad choices given their characters within the past Transformers films. Not cause of "they wouldnt have done that in G1". Theres Some bad choices overall that would have affected characters in any film. The bots are just too small of a percentage in the movie. Yes there will always be a human element needed at some point in the film. But we dont need to only follow the humans for something like 2 hours and 20 min in a 2 hour and 37 min film called Transformers. We saw 85% of all the bot footage on the spots and trailers, and it wells under 10 min. Thats some bs.

Some people's argument is, if you want a TF story about the actual robots, watch Beast Wars or Transformers Prime. The only way they could really give you what you want in that sense is to make a fully CG movie. You know the infamous story Bay tells about them literally melting a rendering machine trying to do Devastator.

Transformers has always had human characters. You won't ever see a 2 hour movie with only robots in it. You have to have a human element.

You're not getting the point. Yeah, G1 had human main characters. A total of two, Spike and Sparkplug. Chip came in after awhile, then there was Carly and Dr. Archeval. And I'm not even counting the third season. That's about the extent of major human characters.

The movies are all about the humans, with the Transformers having some lines thrown in.

the story and character arcs alone showed that actual thought went into the script this time, everybody stepped up their game for this sequel and it showed IMO. it was a great conclusion to the trilogy. question though, i heard a rumor that if any more transformers movies are made, that speilberg might direct them. is this true?

It's just a rumor, but I find it unlikely that the berg will just let this franchise go. It just makes him and paramount too much bloody money. It might actually be the most successful film this year so no, Berg is probably not done. Bay is though.

nice review man

The only way they top it now is to just bring on Unicron and the Quintessons.

you said you don't remember good lines from the new movie, I showed you it had the same lines. how can you say you don't remember any good lines if it had the very line(s) you loved so much.

it's a case of selective hearing if you ask me.

moreover, you've hardly proved the original has good writing.

wow, just wow. do you look at everything from a completely different lens. Do not act like i did not clear my point to you. Given me lines from pass movies, does not prove the movie havd any GOOD LINES OF IT'S SELF, but actually lines from another movie.

so in simple terms, for i did not mean good lines from any movie, but lines that were done by it's writers (and for the sake of making you get this point since i'm saying it for the 1000 time) lines that were originally from these writers not writers of the past.

I've clearly said that and so many ways, you are the only one putting up a fight not to get that. Everyone after i stated that understood it, why you havent it is beyond me. But continue to defend this tooth and nail and look at some fanboys as being misguided and clearly can't see the "way of bayformers in it's artistic form"

and for the record those are not your words, but how you approach things.

hey thanks, i haven't actually say down and written one in a while, but it felt good lol. i kind of hope speilberg does take up the reins, its doubtful, but that would be really cool. they're probably going to find some other high profile action director to do it. something this expensive, (and after michael bay doing the last three) i really don't see them giving it to some nobody.

emm now to me this makes sense, but apparently to some posters, you are not making sense. You just dont understand Bays vision.:whatever:

Just got back from seeing. Won't be seeing it again.

quick thouughts:

- Rosie was no better or worse than Fox, acting wise.
- Bay finally put the last nail in the coffin, when it comes to Megatron.
- Shockwave......what a waste
- The first act was terribly slow, for no apparent reason

I can't see how ppl thought this was better than ROTF. It was the same in the sense of being all over the place, plot wise. The only improvement was the toning down of the ridiculous humor.

The best thing about DOTM is the fact that Michael Bay is now done pillaging and raping one the favorite aspects of my childhood, and hopefully in about 5 years or so, someone with some common sense, might actually do this franchise justice.

DOTM - 6/10

that last part was somewhat agenda ridden, but can't please everyone.

Why does it always seem like you think everyone cares what we go on about?
Anyways, Who said anything about defending this tooth to nail, I gave this last film a 6.5. It's like you think I'm going about this quote issue as hard as I can or something...

I'll say it again, you said the movie had no good lines, I said it did, you said what? I quoted the very lines it copied from the movie you said had good lines. I find it funny.

Now I'm going to stop dancing around this issue, The movie has plenty of both "good" and "memorable" lines for you see these are separate things. The 80's film was almost entirely memorably silliness but it's a subjective matter.

Ironhide: Why are we fighting to save the humans? They're a primitive and violent race.
Optimus Prime: Were we so different? They're a young species. They have much to learn. But I've seen goodness in them. Freedom is the right of all sentient beings. You all know there's only one way to end this war: we must destroy the Cube. If all else fails, I will unite it with the spark in my chest.
Ratchet: That's suicide! The Cube is raw power, it could destroy you both!
Optimus Prime: A necessary sacrifice to bring peace to this planet. We cannot let the humans pay for our mistakes. It's been an honor serving with you all.

Optimus Prime: Sam, I owe you my life. We are in your debt.

Optimus Prime: [to a dying Megatron] You left me no choice, brother.
Ironhide: Prime... we couldn't save him.
[hands him Jazz's remains]
Optimus Prime: Oh, Jazz... We lost a great comrade, but gained new ones. Thank you, all of you. You honor us with your bravery.

Starscream: This is Starscream: All Decepticons, mobilize.
Blackout: Blackout incoming... All hail Megatron!

and that's just from the aliens

you win, you got me to waste my time to do what what was obvious. Now what are we going to compare "Soundwave rules, Constructicons suck" or whatever the the frig he said lol. I mean...really.

just about everything said in this spot is good and or memorable

After seeing the movie just now...

I loved the action scenes in Chicago, most of the other stuff was just medicore.

I was a little annoyed with Sam this time around it seems like the only one's that didn't annoy me all that much were Simmons, Carly, Epps, Lennox, and Mearing. And I'm starting to get sick of seeing Ken Jeong play almost the same character in everything I see him in.

Now, on to the Transformers themselves; nothing major just my own little gripes.

Was Megatron just hiding during half the battle until Carly found them? I almost forgot he was there.

Shockwave, yeah complete waste. I think even Soundwave did more than him, at least Soundwave got to talk; I personally liked that Laserbeak spoke.

I think it's kind of funny how in DOTM and ROTF, there's always a Decepticon character that you forgot about from the first movie who suddenly shows up in the last battle from out of nowhere.

I liked the Wreckers, I thought they were pretty cool even though they didn't get to do much; kind of reminded me of Autobot hooligans.

Prime's speech at the dam was perhaps the most memorable piece of dialog in the entire trilogy. I felt chills.

And Daniel, and Carly.

As long as you spend a good chunk of that time exploring the personalities within the Transformer ranks so we actually care about their struggles and conflicts then I think that's good enough.

I agree with that. I agree that I wanted more of the main autobot cast like Ironhide so that his death means something. That is a script issue.

It felt like they cut some of Optimus' ending speech, he didn't even do the "I am Optimus Prime" part.

I think they should've trimmed the battle scenes....BUT...that **** was so impressive. So I dont know.

Yeah, as great as they were they went on way too long.

If bay didn't want to, I don't see why the producers didn't trim scenes
shorter running times mean more plays = more money.
come on berg.

IMAX man. Imax can only be so long. I think 2hrs 40 minutes is as long as IMAX can be.

Can anyone confirm whether Ratchet had a single line in this?
I couldnt get into the movie at all, due to the fact that I got ripped off via LieMAX, and the guy next to me texted the entire time.
I plan on seeing it again, in a real IMAX, before I give my verdict.
