Official Halo Thread

Sprint should be default. It makes the game feel less clunky and more frantic. In every other big shooter you can run so I was happy that Halo added it...especially in campaign. I want to be in a vehicle 24/7 because they go faster than 2 mph.

My favorite is tossing a sticky grenade on someone trying to AR me to death, then going into armor lock and watching them run around me like an idiot until they explode. If any of those times were against you, Asteroid-Man, just know that I enjoyed it. :cwink:

I hate it when I get a sticky, they go into armor lock and it bounces right back at me. :(

I always thought it would be cool if you could pull a sticky off of you and throw it back if you were quick enough. Just the front though, you can't get one off your back. Maybe have a button prompt come up on screen like COD does. I also think you should be able to throw back frag grenades or kick them or something if they don't cook them. I know it's a lot like COD but COD has a few great ideas that I think would make Halo a lot better.

Spartans have no time for such nonsense! :o cooking grenades would be pretty rad though.

Armor locks are cool and make the game more fun and more challenging.

Haha no worries. I actually find it awesome when I get stuck - that's skill. :D I think most of my kills are with grenades anyways. In Halo 3, whenever I'd get killed, I'd stick the guy right before and get a "death from the grave" medal. :awesome:

THIS is annoying. Stupid Armor Lock...

You realise that there is a radar to avoid having that happen right? Otherwise, there's just as much of a chance for someone else to start shooting you from behind when you shoot someone else. You need to look around and understand your surroundings. Armor Lock is unbalanced and it's noobier than noob-toobing. If you suck at the game, you take armor lock. If you don't believe me, take up my challenge and come play me.

That's a load of ****. If you are ACTUALLY being unbalanced I'll call you out on it. I expressed my dismay for Armor Lock and Invis and the majority of others agree with it - it's like common knowledge among the Halo Reach players, but guess who disagrees? The Armor Lock ****es.

Holy **** dude, thanks for telling me that there is radar in Halo! I've been playing since CE and never knew that until now.... Now I can play fer realz instead of running blind and spamming armor lock on poor guys without a chance...

I agree with Pat, so called "skilled" games cry about any way they get killed, armor lock is just an easy target. I'm glad I have such pro's around to help me understand the game now so I don't have to rely on it anymore and can use true skill powerups like....Sprint.

I don't mean to be an ass... But if I'm going to be told I suck because of the freaking armor ability I use based on the opinion of the massive amount of whine that complain on the internet... then I'll risk sounding like one...

I will continue to use Armor Lock because I'm good at using it and if that bugs people...then so be it.

There's nothing like ending a sword *****es killing spree with a well placed, well timed armor lock into melee.

That being said, at least I do get respect for my awesome stick 'nade abilities. I've often had people message me with "awesome stick" I swear most of my kills are sticky kills.

Bottom line is this: I don't profess to be the worlds greatest player... I don't often try to be the best... but I'm good at Halo... in fact it may be the only shooter I'm good at online. I can play with or without armor lock... I use it because its fun and I really like to see people whine about it, or hear them complain afterward... more so if I only have one armor lock related kill... its as if I tipped the whole game in my team favor, lol.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, 99 percent of the time, when a gamer is whining about something being unbalanced is usually because they don't expect to be killed by anything, and when it happens they cry fowl. Sure people can use certain things to their advantage, especially if they're not that skilled at other weapons or armour abilities, but if you can't counter a guy with armour lock effectively, then you don't deserve to call ANYONE a noob. People using armour lock noobishly are exceptionally easy to beat, and if they aren't then they're not noobs. It still requires co-ordination and strategy as well as good timing to use it effectively.

Also, sprint is probably the most noobishly used ability at all. Pretty much everyone uses it to rush into a battle to get a kill and then dies themselves, basically serving no purpose whatsoever, OR they use it to rush to the power weapons, which in and of itself could just as easily be called noobish.

Also, did you guys see this?

Master Chief is Changing For Halo 4
Frank O'Connor says the redesign is for story reasons.

343's Frank O'Connor has explained why Master Chief looks a little different in the reveal trailer for Halo 4, hinting that his personality is going to change as well.

In an E3 interview with Official Xbox Magazine, O'Connor, formerly of Bungie and the Halo series' Franchise Director, had this to say: "There's some story behind his new look... There are specific reasons why he looks the way he does and why some of his behaviours have changed. We'll see in good time."

That means changes to his personality as well as just the armour, then. Intriguing.

Some of us noticed the changes to Master Chief's Spartan armour in the E3 reveal trailer – in particular, the gap in the armour around the groin that was previously covered by a shiny green metal plate.

Bye-bye, Spartan codpiece! We will all miss you.

Rod Fergusson from Epic Games talks about the phenomenon of 'unbalanced weapons' a lot, and how most of it is manufactured by hardcore gamers who can't accept a gamer they identify as lower skill being able to beat them. He points out the irony of them suddenly calling things 'unbalanced' when they don't stop to consider that perhaps the reason they've always done so well is because it already WAS unbalanced, in their favour.

lol I bought Bungie pro coz it was like, 320 points or something which was weird coz I thought it was 800.

anyways this cap is the main reason I fell in love with Speedflag on Wayont:

hahah I didn't think I could pull it off, the adrenaline rush was amazing.

Haha. nice. That map always tends to be mass chaos when I play on it. My friends and I won a flag game on it last night, left party chat into game chat and questioned the guys if they knew the game was a flag game...

It was like running through a Michael Bay movie. Seriously.

daaamn I love those kinds of matches. lately Boneyard in BTB All-Stars is hectic like that lol, and I kinda miss BTB on Countdown coz grenades go off every second til somebody wins hahah it was the best.

I don't dislike them... but I prefer them to be like that in Slayer. :p

Here's another speedflag goody. Two of my team quit when Blue scored, leaving the three of us Reds to defend our flag half the match. I got pissed they wouldn't stop coming and bum rushed Blue base in the last minute and we surprisingly ended up tying the game lmao they would have totally won if they would have stopped trying to go for the 2-0 victory.

I have 1 more render minute left if anyone wants a short clip processed.

I don't dislike them... but I prefer them to be like that in Slayer. :p

hahah true. I don't mind just messing around in objective tho, it can be fun sometimes.

I'm once again GOOD with the DMR again... YAY! Took me a while to get back into the swing of things after my break but that skill returned, lol. I'm also getting MUCH better with the Sniper Riffle and THAT was a gun I often refused to touch.

It's also one gun that I can easily give props to people that have been able to master it. I've seen some impressive kills (I have a buddy that is a legit pro at sniping) made with it over the years and honestly, it kind of scared me to even attempt them.

I've managed to become fairly good with it though.

....I'm still going to veto the heck out of sniping maps though. :p

So...anyone else excited about the announcement of Glasslands (sequel to Ghosts of Onyx)? Really seems like they're setting up Halo 4 with all the new books. And there's hope that Halsey and the surviving Spartans will be reintroduced to the series.

Awesome!

Part of me also wonders if we'll see mention of Jun at all? I have a feeling he's going to play a part in Halo 4 somehow. There's a reason he survived.
