The Official Mass Effect thread - Part 1

I don't know if it's normal, per se, but I think everyone was used to that look on him by the time the game starts.

I remember reading that GethSaren was actually only supposed to be seen at the end after Sovereign has upgraded his implants but they apparently ran out of time and used it throughout.

Aha! They really should try to bring ME1 to the PS3 after all. Plus fixed details like Pre-Geth Transformation Saren. And of course using the ME3 engine like they did with ME2. So all 3 games look equally as good.

I'm all for them remaking ME1 and getting the trilogy together as something more mechanically and technically consistent. I don't know what the legalities of ME1's deal is concerning Microsoft but I hope we see those get sorted out one day.

Were there any sort of legalities? I thought it was a time constraints problem. Because of the changing game mechanics between 1 and 2, it would have been like working on two different games.

It would be an incredible surprise if they'd announce ME1 for the PS3, the same day ME3 gets launched. They could sell it separately and make a sweet deal that anyone who buys ME3 new, gets a code to download ME1.

*Edit*

I read up on the whole deal again. The biggest problem is that MS has the publishing rights to the first game. Damn them. Couldn't those rights be bought back though? Though would EA even want to do it?

Probably not. If they could've gotten the full game ported over to the PS3, I can't imagine they would've invested in making the comic instead.

Do you think it would be possible to get around these Publishing Legalities, if instead of porting the original Mass Effect, they do a remake? Kinda like MGS. Sony has the publishing rights to MGS1, yet the game was still released as a remake on Nintendo's Gamecube, with the added subtitle Twin Snakes.

I'm not talking about making a night and day difference, but adding some new paint, a subtitle, some stuff that wasn't in the original game and maybe tweaked scenes and it could pass as a remake and essentially new game.

I don't know. If it is possible, I suspect we won't see it until well after ME 3 gets released, though. I personally doubt we'd ever see it. BioWare seems like the kind of company that wants to keep pressing forward, not rehash old games. Sucks for the PS3 crowd, granted, but there you go.

I agree, but they could always farm it out to another studio.

Right.

As long as they don't have Shepard doing a backflip onto a missile and then jumping like fifty feet in the air. :funny:

Lol. I was surprised of how stylized Twin Snakes videos are. It's like the 90's remake of an old action movie
