I really don't see an actual full on fight between Batman and Superman. If there is a fight, it'll probably be more like the fight in Batman: Hush where Batman is more along the lines of being overly cautious because he knows that he can't beat Superman.

I liked the cancelled redesign of Aquaman where he was wearing an armor.
How long will the first story arc last?
6 issues?
8?

maybe the first story arc is 6 issues where we only see the team being gathered.
Maybe they're going to do the Darkseid story arc after that

I think its about six issues then the title starts taking place in the present

As long as Batman doesnt actually beat Superman

Though these two fighting yet again doesn't sound exciting to me no matter who wins

Pretty much. As of now, this book is a failure to me purely from the fact that it seems like the team isn't even together by issue 4. This is taking decompression to a whole new level.

Unlike most i don't have a problem with that as i like things to go naturally instead of shoe horning all the team into the first issue

I don't want the story to be rushed but if the team isnt together by issue four then I'll just have this face

It just seems like Johns is writing for the trade and padding things out if he's not going to have the team together by the fourth issue

This coming together naturally would be easily done in three or four issues. These guys are superheroes, and with the exception of Cyborg, they all have their own books (so no need to give them a ton of character development focus in JLA). We've got the big threat, right? (I'm hearing about Darkseid, which I like, which means I might get this in trade.) So have him be that big threat, have the League be the first (or only) heroes to show. Have some minor "this is gonna be hard for us to get along because we all have different MOs" character stuff, and then beat the crap out of the bad guys when they find that they mesh well.

There's no need for this to be a year long story where every new member kicks the **** out of the other guys before they even get to the bad guys.

I think it's a six issue arc and then the book moves to the present day with a bigger League. Johns and Lee are already working on the second arc of the book.

It still seems to me that DC's doing this backwards. We know the JLA, and like I said, most of them have their own books in which they're the focus, so there's no need to stretch it out. You know who people don't know much about? The JLI, and that team is together in the very first issue. I love the Justice League, they're probably my favorite team in comics, but this treatment (and distinct lack of green) is disappointing me greatly.

That makes it seem like it's impossible for a team to come together naturally over the course of one or two issues. Which it very much is not. The writer just has to want to do it that way, which Johns clearly does not.

But Justice League International and Justice League have two completely different tones and two completely different reasons to for their team up.

True, but that doesn't mean that there needs to be so much time taken to bring the team together. I mean, isn't Darkseid involved in this? Isn't he kind of a big deal? Won't it be disappointing if the League is only fighting him united for one issue out of six?

But what makes Justice League work in this manner is that these heroes don't know one another, they don't know what the threat is, and it feels more like fate is bringing them together. And this story is set in the past to deal with the formation of the League and how it got the DCnU going. If it were set in the present where the heroes all know each other and whatnot, no it wouldn't work.

Justice League International on the other hand is being brought together in response to the Justice League. You had someone sit down and pick the members that they want as opposed to seven random heroes gathering together to fight a great threat. The United Nations picking and choosing a team helps set the tone of the DCnU.

If I were going to compare this to something, I would compare it to Brad Meltzer's run on Justice League of America where he had Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman sit down and spend almost the entire arc picking and choosing which members they want. Now Justice League International should show Meltzer how to bring a team together right.

Hey, you know what worked really well? Waid's Justice League: Year One, where all the heroes were emerging around the same time and came together because they had one gung-ho dude (Barry) pull all the others together and convince them that it just made sense to work together. Simple, logical, satisfying, and without a hint of the heroes randomly attacking each other for no apparent reason. There was a name for that back then... What was it...? Oh yeah, good storytelling.

What Corp said. The story can be done in a short amount of time, it's just that Johns wants to milk this.

Yeah, we can. And I think we just did. Now if only DC could too. :argh:

LOL, like that's ever going to happen :awesome:

DC will never accept a Justice League founding roster that does not include Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman.
