I think Justice League's biggest problem is that Johns is writing a Jim Lee comic. If there is one thing that Johns is really good at, it's showcasing the artists that he works with and allows the art to show off it's full potential. Think of his work with Gary Frank, Francis Manapul, Ivan Reis, Scott Kolins, Ethan van Sciver, and Doug Mahnke, there's a reason why these artists really like working with Johns.

Jim Lee however, is not the greatest storyteller when it comes to his art. It's all about visual flair, but storytelling, not so much. But Johns is really letting Lee's art shine here and it's kind of a detriment to the series storywise. It's still a good book, but it's clearly Johns' weakest book.

I couldn't agree more with this. Exactly the way I felt when reading it. All of the characters feel a bit thin when compared to their solo books, but that's to be expected when it's really about getting the team together and letting them fight a common threat. It's probably the worst book on my pull list (of a dozen or so), but I'm going to stick with it because it still is a pretty fun book, and Lee makes it worth the monthly 4 bucks.

Oh, I'll agree that this is boring me due to me being a long enough time reader. But I'm sure for new readers it is not. Which is why I said I will enjoy this more after this arc I'm sure or at least in the last 3 issues since most of the intros have been done say for Aquaman's which will be issue 4 (and I like Aquaman :o :awesome:).

I grew to like Aquaman because my friends would always automatically make fun of him when they found out I was into comic books. I didn't know anything about him at the time, so I read him mostly out of snottiness thinking "they just don't know anything about him." I was largely right.

and it's hard to find out more about him since there are only about 4 trades that DC has printed for him. :argh:

Ugh, I know. They stopped on his most recent series long before they ever even got to the Sub Diego stuff, which was the really good part of it.

Yup.

I'm desperately hoping the recent Aquaman love makes them put that run up on Comixology.

Justice League #3 had such a great blast of action, but i can't help but to think Wonder Woman comes fof as abit of an idiot here. I know they're trying to establish the whole warrior princess thing here, but wouldn't you think she'd try to study and learn the people too, get her secret identity up and running as an Diplomat or so, i guess she's not doing that since Amazonians are still a secret, so she's full on just being Diana 24/7 and kicking ass instead. The action was wonderful with Superman showing off his herculean strenghts by using a truck as a baseball bat and just smashing down so many Parademons, fun cameos from some scientists of DC universe and heck Darkseid looked pretty nice, but that's due to the very little detail he was shown. Loved Aquaman's entrance and his introduction, Aquaman for the Field Commander of Justice League!

I thought Aquaman's intro was kind of odd. If he had simply said "who's in charge here?!" that would have been fine but that extra "I vote me!", i sort of like "huh?". Where did that come from? Granted its only a few lines of dialogue, I'll wait til next issue to judge but still.

...Count me as someone who enjoyed the issue, which shows just how much both Superman and Wonder Woman have benefited from the reboot. Geoff Johns, IMO, wrote Wonder Woman a lot better than he usually he does, and he continues to show Superman as a supreme badass. I liked all the easter egg references like the S.T.A.R labs crew.

That said, I dont really care about the Cyborg arc. The main strength of this book is definetely watching the icons interact with each other. And Aquaman at the end was pretty funny.

Huh? I haven't read the issue, but yeah, that sounds really odd to me.

Anyway, I'll probably pick up the trade, but it seems to me that the most interesting aspect of this story may also be detracting in some ways. Portraying the world's greatest heroes in their somewhat bumbling ways before they refine themselves is an interesting concept and good spin on the whole retelling of the League's formation for the umpteenth time. It also seems like Johns might be going a bit too far on that, though, as some of the stuff I'm reading about that seems to be coming off a little too over-the-top to the point of just seeming very off. I'll still pick up the HC, though, and see how it plays out for myself.

I flicked through issue three and Wonder Woman was surprisingly fun in this issue given who was writing her

Still not in love with this book but issue three felt better than the last two issues

Seriously?

Fail, DC. Fail in a whale

They need to start reprinting more stories in trades. There's so many neat stories that have never been collected including the Sub Diego stories

Gimme my Sub Diego DC :argh:

Let's hope so

I'd love to have those trades just so I could shove them in people's face and be like, "Aquaman doesn't suck, YOU suck!" :cmad:

The thing I've always thought funny is that DC's Aquaman is viewed as lame, but Namor - who is pretty much a grouchy Aquaman - is viewed as one of the great el primo badasses of Marvel.

I was shocked to find out that superfriends lasted for 9 seasons

It's 'cause Aquaman doesn't stalk enough of his fellow heroes' wives.

I have most of that Aquaman run in single issues. I'm missing like 4 issues. It's good stuff.

Just finished reading #3 and it's definitely my favorite so far. I like the little nods to past characters like Orr from "For Tomorrow" and the name dropping of Dr. Morrow, and Professor Ivo. Plus w/ Cyborg's dad I'm wondering what kind of project they could've been working on.

Jim Lee's art is still top notch to me so I'm definitely on-board for this run.

I know nobody else who reads comics in my part of the England, so I was never aware of the Aquaman hate until I read some of these threads, what is the reason?

Not to veer too far offtrack but I never understood how Captain America and all the other heroes regard him as an ally. Didn't he like flood New York once and kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people?

And he acts like a watery date rapist and doesn't understand that blondes do not want his horrible undersea loving

Didn't he threaten to drown New York if Sue didn't make out with him or something in the Ultimate Universe

It's 'cause Aquaman doesn't stalk enough of his fellow heroes' wives.

Aquaman has too much class and dignity to act the way Namor acts toward Sue and Emma

Also Aquaman doesn't sleep with his cousin
